Gran Turismo Spec IV Thread: Autumn Ring, Sugo Circuit, and More

I usually roll my eyes at posts like this but hear me out!

In Spec II we got 2 GT legend cars (400R and 190E)

In spec III we got 3 GT legend cars (Mines R34, Espace and FTO)

So does that mean in Spec IV… (Mugen Civic, ???, ??? And ???)

I mean idk if the 2CV and M5 counts as legendary cars from GT, but maybe they add the Minolta 88C-V or potentially the Nissan R390 GT1? I'm just speculating on which legendary GT cars would make its return to the franchise.

Ruf Yellowbird something, alongside the Tribute. The event at Ginza took place last March; it will have been nine months by December, which leaves enough time to modelise the car.

It took PD ten years to fix the Nismo GT-R LM and they still haven't updated the Suzuka logo; I've given up hope trying to understand their logic when it comes to this stuff :lol: that way I'll be pleasantly surprised when something drops.

I see, it this way. If you had to go to a hospital for a hip replacement or to remove a wart off the end of your nose, which would you want done first, obviously the hip replacement because that's what you need. Whereas the wart on your nose is strictly cosmetic. As I see, the suzuka logo as cosmetic and fixing the nismo gt- r is an actual fix.

I think it'd make a lot more sense to add the TS010 rather than the 88C-V as far as Group C Toyotas go, if only because it's arguably a profoundly important part of Toyota's history in prototype racing. Without the TS010, we wouldn't have the iconic TS020 and so on. Otherwise, I totally could see the R390 GT1 being added as a Gr.2 racer, especially as the various prizes for the Nations Cup Viewer's Campaign seem to be paying homage to the GT4 "Black Cars" quartet.

Indeed. My guess for other iconic GT cars that could be added in the second half would include the Nissan GT-R '07, or perhaps the Lamborghini Diablo GT-1 that raced in the JGTC. Speaking of that brand, I wouldn't doubt the idea that we could get the Miura SV, if only to have a non-prototypical and relatively more affordable model of Miura that also comes in multiple colors - and also is a later revision of that prototype model we have, so it's not like they'd look identical even if painted the same color. There's also the BMW M3 (E46) GTR that raced in the ALMS but that's arguably more iconic to a different franchise lol.

At any rate, I'm just pumped for all these fascinating features, like the driving experiences and concierge.

The "iconic" GT cars I miss are the following:

Nismo GT-R LM Road Car
Nissan Stagea 260RS
Nissan R390 GT1
Daihatsu Midget
Lister Storm
Mitsubishi Evo IV / V / VI rally car.

If just one of them arrives in December to celebrate the 30th anniversary, it would be an excellent xmas gift.

The FTO wasn't a GT legend car, and it doesn't mean there will be 4 in the Spec 4 update. Safe to say there will be equally cool stuff in the other 6 though
 
I must agree with something: the car selection isn’t quite up to the level of a Spec update yet. This isn’t necessarily a complaint, it’s a solid selection, but it definitely falls short when you see what came in Specs II & III.

Surely we got half of the cars yet to be revealed, so there’s plenty of potential. The M5 and the Mugen Motul Civic are excellent additions and I love quirky slow cars like the 2CV and the Stepwgn. But even so, it’s not looking that good for a major update car-wise.

Let’s hope the unknown remaining 6 cars turn out to be something more memorable to properly celebrate the series 30th anniversary.
 
Keep in mind we got the Demon, Polestar, Tesla and 296 road car. So, not legends either and just being new to the franchise. I wouldn’t call the 190 E and Mugen Civic legends of Gran Turismo cars. More like nostalgic cars of the franchise.

I’d say a legend of Gran Turismo could apply to individual players. The Renault isn’t, in my eyes, throughtout the years of my play from the first game to today. Probably the Mine’s R34(definitely a legend outside the game, if anyone have watched Mine’s decimate Best Motoring competition) over the 400R, to me.

Look at the cars we’ve gotten outside of the Spec updates that may have wowed better in the spec updates.

We just got four cars in the last update. I guess the twelve cars equate to four cars per month for the last quarter of the year.
 
I'm very happy about the car viewer feature being added. This was just what I asked for in that "small additions" thread last year, so it feels like I've been heard.

Autumn Ring is one of my favorite GT tracks, so knowing that it'll return is great news. This game is kinda lacking in shorter, twisty courses, and the distinctive scenery is a bonus. I'm not familiar with Sugo, but taking a look at the layout, it seems like it should be pretty fun as well.

I’ve been saying for awhile they should bring Autumn Ring back because it’s a great track and it showcases Autumn colours. They’ve got an expanded layout, I really hope they include Autumn Ring mini. It’s great for karts. If they don’t, yikes.
 
I really don’t want to seem like I’m predicting and I’m not, but with Opera Performance being brought up over this year and having the decals in the game for a good while, the Opera S2000 is indeed a legend of the franchise and outside the game. It’s amazing performance in the GT4 Tuner Grand Prix is legendary. A car so light with not a lot of power was daggone near unbeatable.

The last quarter is 4 months so that equals 3 cars per month.

Edit: WOW. I have no idea what I was thinking when I posted this. What I meant to say is that we have 4 months left in the year and that would equal 3 cars per month.

Maybe it’s a legend because the FTO has been in the saga since the first game, plus the FTO LM too.

But for me the Mugen Motul Civic, M5, Skyline Super silhouette, 190 evo and Espace F1 are not legends at all. Two of them only appeared in GT2, and the others have been in the series since GT4 and only the M5 got a premium treatment in GT5 or GT6. But an original GT legend like the Nissan R390 GT1 is still not in the game, that racing beast deserves some love!

Lots of such cars from the JDM market were first being experienced by the western hemisphere.

Even though cars are added each Grand Turismo, there are still legends in each line up.
The HKS dragsters, BTCC Racing modifications, Calibra DTM, Stageas, Legnums, Yellowbird.

Again, I’m not the authority on what are the legends of Gran Turismo. Many of us can call what we feel are legends. What are the cars that rose above all others that would absolutely get the fantasy Gran Turismo Legends award?

I posted awhile ago about one of wife’s friends saying Gran Turismo to her was a blue with white stripes Viper. I’m sure we can all agree that is indeed a universal legend of Gran Turismo, not just her own emotions of Gran Turismo.

I'm not following this line of thought at all.

It's not a "legend" if it was in one game in the past but no others since (until now)...

... and also not a legend if it's been in the game continuously since GT4 (except GT Sport)...

... but it is a legend if it has been in the game continuously since GT2 (except GT Sport)?


Is GT2 the start point for legendhood and only then with continuous appearance (except GT Sport)?

How about the Mazda 787B, which first appeared in GT3 and then every game since including GT Sport?

To me I love all of the cars you mention but I also love the kei cars and it would great if they add the kei cars from 90s the Auto am. That car is part of the my legends coalition

The M5 isn't "legendary"? What are you thinking? It made it's video game debut in GT4 before customers got them! I learnt how to tackle the Nurburgring with it in GT PSP! And we haven't even got to the engine. Hell my next blog post that's going up on Thursday is about the E60 M5. Maybe that will change your mind.
 
Yeah, the Del Sol LM was very cool.

I guess I can see how the 190 E road car is thought of as a legend of the franchise. Possibly due to tackling the Nordschliefe behind the Skyline Pace Car.

I preferred the DTM car. However, overjoyed when the road car reappeared in Spec II.

I know it’s far fetched, but I love to speculate😅, so:

-RUF CTR Yellowbird
-Autozam AZ-1
-Tommy Kaira ZZ-II
-Opel Calibra DTM
 
Yellobird and AZ-1 out of those are more likely because they've appeared in datamines and plus their licenses will be easier to get than the other two. Put it like this I wouldn't say no.

Who holds the license for the Tommy Kaira? I know that they were bought out a while back.
 
Curious to know if we'll get more of the fictional F1 cars in spec 4 like we did the past couple of years. Something like from the late 90's or early to mid 2000's (Formula GT from GT4 as an example)
