Is it too late to enter GT Academy 2012? I know it started 9 days ago, but in one of the front page stories (https://www.gtplanet.net/gt-academy-2012-launches-today-in-15-countries/) it states you can join at any time between May 1st and June 26th and play catch up. My PS3 died months ago, so I can't exactly log on and find out for myself. Luckily, a generous friend is willing to let me borrow her PS3 for GT Academy, so if I can still join, I need to pick up the PS3 and get started. I'd really appreciate if anyone can confirm whether or not I am eligible to compete if I start this week.

Marry this woman.

Anyone got any tips on Round 2-2, the one @ Tokyo Route, I am currently standing at 26.420 and am trying to make it into the leaderboards.

What's the best way at tackling that first & last corner?

I don't have access to my PS3 at the moment, but if it's the one I think it is, the first corner is all about the braking point, and for the remaining corners, focus on finding a smooth line, with as little steering input as possible.

I wasn't able to go too quick there myself, gave up a lot sooner than I usually would, got like a low 26.3. My friends' top time was almost a flat 26 so I know it's possible for me to get down around there without needing any alien like skill.
But this section is one of the few sections that has a few different fast ways of getting through it (since it's admittedly a bit longer or more complex than most).

But you really have to be dainty with the brakes and aggressive with steering input.
Braking before that 100 m board's easy 'cause it's a great reference. But if you find yourself missing the apex and going wide, first thing to do is brake earlier at the start. But the earlier you can get back on throttle to exit the better. And don't power on too eaely that you end up too far on the curbing and have to throw your way off before the barrier closes up. Just ride the edge of your car on it for good momentum down that small straight before the left.

This is really the whole section here.
Go as far right as you can to set up for entry in the follow-through.
Getting as close to the wall on the left side as you can, clipping your left side over the small curbing there, then modulating the gas a bit to stay above 70 mph is key, then ride on top of the huge curbing on the right as balanced as you can so you can be on full throttle for as long as possible to the line.

^^^thank's guys. Everything said is pretty much what I've been doing, I just need to keep perfecting it. :D

haha, wow man, cool to see you around again, have time for running any series on the weekends these days?

hehe im afraid not man, its been hard for me to find time for GT. havent played but a time or two since last years academy. i spent about a half hour each on the final 3 of these academy challenges and was able to get into the top 100, so i was pretty happy about that. probably fell way down the list by now though. hope to see you and some other friends go far 👍

if they allow alumni to compete i might make some time for it though! :)

hi mr spec :dopey:

The GTAcademy facebook page just confirmed that one of the next rounds will be using an R34 Skyline GT-R, shall be good.

^^sound's good, just checked the NA facebook page, "REMINDER - Round 3 and 4 of GT Academy 2012 begins on Monday, 5/14. Here's a little something to look forward to" and it shows a pic of the 370z & the Top Gear Test Track. :D

I would've liked to see the R390 Road car featured; it's a lot more lively than the 4WD GT-Rs, and it's a Nissan:sly:

Not that it matters, but I'm going to try to see if I can get into the 38's just to see if I can pull it off. Steering sensitivity decreased from 7 to 5 gives me a smoother run. Perhaps sensitivity set to 4 will be the sweet spot.....we'll see later on today.

I just noticed you can get gold in 2-5 without passing the yellow car.

I botched the first turn and normally I would just steer into the grass to trigger a restart, but for some reason I decided to finish the run. I made no effort to pass the yellow car, just followed him to the finish. Gold by a tenth.

Same with the Leaf one. 'Easy' doesn't really cut it.

Where do that chart come from?

I have been struggling to get in the top 5k in the round 2 challenges. Any tips? I'm using DFGT with Stock pedals.

Watch the replays of the top 10. Do what they do.

I just knocked half a second off my time in 1-4 after watching the #1 replay.

Automatic? Switch to manual! That'll get you a couple of tenths.
Indeed, but I want to see how far I can get the Auto.

I've knocked off some time for the Auto trans. I might try passing on the right side of the Red S15 later on. I'm enjoying the comfort softs, I'm going to have to equip a C6 ZR1 for the ring, for some true madness time trials!

Thank You. Well given I'm not on that list I don't need to worry about being out of shape. lol

Seriously, given there are 517,880 players and growing, to be in the ten thousands isn't that bad.

Keep in mind you are looking at a list of all the countries mixed together. You need only worry about where you stand within players from the USA.
