I'm the first actual US player at #9. Sure that will change a whole lot though since there's obviously more time out there.

Yeah I figured that Let_Canada_In guy was actually a Canadian using a US account, so I didn't count him.

Just checked the myGranTurismo.net overall rankings and I'm 3rd in the USA for Round 4.

Didn't expect that....

Edit: 6th in Round 3.

Saw that last night.
I can't figure out how that works, all my times in round 4 are lower than the top 500 yet I'm not in the top 5000 thousand? I must really stink at math or driving.

Do all countries compete against each other, or does each country have its own 16 winners, and its own GT Academy?

The USA has it's own competition, so the top 32 will advance to the National Finals where 16 will advance to Silverstone. Germany has it's own contest as well, and I think Russia but don't quote me on that. All other eligible countries are competing together.

Not all countries displayed in the rankings are actually running in the main contest.

I wonder if people are going to rush through Round 7 and Round 8-1 to 8-4, just to be able to get to 8-5 as quickly as possible. :D

I believe that's the one that count's.

I'm really hoping it's something that's longer than these 30 second events we've been seeing though. If it comes down to the end and the top guys are all separated by 5-10 thousandths, I'm going to be annoyed.

I'm hoping for a 3 to 4 hr enduro. None of this: crash 10,000 times for 1 good run.

My guess is full lap at Motegi in the Tuned GT-R.

You can almost count on it being a full lap. And i agree these 30 sec things are a bit tedious. I'm just doing the minumum to get by at this point. I don't wanna burn myself out at this stage of the competition. Now if there were weekly prizes for the rounds that would be a different story.

I just began Round 4, just got done doing 4-1 @ the Nurb., I am currently at 21.3 ...it's hard to figure out where to brake in the beginning. Anyone know where a good braking point is?

There are some blackish spots on the edge of the road on the left, I've been using those, braking just before the second darker section.

If you're talking about the second right-hand corner, just after you top that small hill, I barely used any braking at all. If my memory serves me right, I just turned right, let off the acceleration, SLIGHTLY nudged the brakes, grazed the curbing at the apex, and then smashed the acceleration all the way to the second-to-last corner. If you do it like this, though, the first car you have to pass is in a terrible spot to do so. In my opinion, you pretty much have to cheat to get by him, taking the slight left turn where you meet him far, far inside. I think I had two wheels quite deep into the grass. There's really no other option, though. You can't pass him on the outside and expect to post a high-ranking time.

this would be awesome, would separate the consistently fast drivers from the one run wonders who DQ 1,000 times first.

also make it one run and you're done, no restarting once you start  would add that extra element of pressure that real drivers face

I'll keep that in mind, thank's! 👍

I think you are giving me tips for 3-5, the one where you are the R32 and you are catching up to the other 2 cars ahead.

Thank's anyway though. :dopey:

Hi Guys I've been browsing this forum since last years Academy (finished 80th in the west) i remember RS1600 turbo saying that whom ever is wining now will most likely be the winners, so when round 8-5 Come's along i would recommend finding your best now, but things always change.

I've just got to say the competition is tough!!! I've been trying to break into the top 250 for round 3-1 (circuito de madrid) I having a hard time trail braking and getting the car to point through the apex.

5890 place 3-1 16.585

Also,

Has anyone been having issue's when updating rankings? seems like the GTA2012 server's are getting blasted.
