What a wonderful time for my ps3 to stop working. :grumpy::mad:
Stuck at 2:18.279 until i fix it or get a new one...

i restarted it and it was scanning for last saved data and now its a black screen the hdd light is solid yellow, and i cant turn it off unless i unplug it...

should i unplug it or wait?

Did you try pressing and holding the power button until (hopefully) it turns off? That's the hard reset. If not... I'm truly sorry for your loss.

I'm getting my laps killed at Copse too. It's just a challenging corner with no room for going too soon or going wide.

Also, i feel like i'm losing a lot of time on Vale. I just hard to get the car to rotate/drift by letting the brake pedal just softly.

It worked, its slow now though, time to backup my saved data, thx :)

The best information you can possibly get is by watching the replays of the best in your region or indeed globally. Watch it in the camera view that you use and keep all the info on screen.

1st time watching - Take in the line that is used, you might see something you haven't thought about before.

2nd time watching - You should focus on the gears that are used and more importantly, the amount of throttle that is used on exits. You can also look for braking and turning points, but a ghost is better for that.

Don't worry, everyone struggles with Copse (Turn 9), sometimes you run wide, sometimes you get by, and that rare occasion that you nail it, it's just brilliant.

Try to maintain the highest speed throughout turns 10-14 whilst not sacrificing the next corner. Focus on a good angle for the exit onto the straight because that is very important.

Hope this helps :)

I've got Copse pretty much nailed down, I down shift to fourth, wait a certain amount of time after the shadow and then flick the car in, getting the rotation whilst slowly lifting off the brake as I turn. If I clip the apex at 88-90mph I can usually just jam the throttle on really early giving me a great exit. Unfortunately I'm far from consistent through Maggots and Becketts which is where I usually ruin my laps :(

Will try these tips, thanks guys. 👍

I keep referring to GT academy as Silverstone. I'll say "I want play some more Silverstone." am i the only one?

The last part of the track is difficult indeed

I have not seen your replay, but I have gained a lot of time in stowe with later braking, and less braking.
According to gears I try to get early on the pedal in third gear

Ok, thanks for the advice guys. :)👍 I'll look at several of the top leaders in the US and in the world and look at their replays and ghosts.

And keep a eye out for niNJasPY55 on the leaderboards, especially the US GTA LB, for a updated time with replay.

Down to 2.20.607 Copse is straight up wrecking me right now, I lose so much time in that corner just making sure I don't run wide. Maggots and Becketts is just as bad. Decided to try and keep it smoother and not try the crazy sharp turn ins the top guys are doing.

Why I GTA.

On my drive home today I started thinking about why I enjoy GT academy. Some people GTA because they have a shot at making the finals. Some do it to prove a point. Some do it just because it is there. Then something dawned on me. I will never:

Run a 100 meter dash in 10.059 seconds
Run a mile in 3 min 54 seconds
Raw Bench press 685 lbs
Do 43,700 push-ups in 24 hours
Shoot 4960 consecutive free throws
Bowl a 285
Score 2280 on the SATs
Have a 2750 chess rating
Solve the Rubiks Cube in 5.82 seconds

All those achievements have on thing in common. They are within 5% of the worlds highest score or world record.

But what if there was something that I could get within 5% of the best score out there. Well GTA is that something. Each year the best racers can compete in a global competition.

When you are 6 seconds off the pace it is easy to get discouraged. But to be within 5% of the current fastest time you only need to run a 2:23.6. Currently I am only 3% off the pace of the top score. What if I could put in a lap just 1% faster. That sounds like a goal I can achieve.

I have no delusions that I can qualifier for the finals. Simply put that is for the aliens. With practice I can get close but the top drivers can get closer and do it much faster than I can. So best of luck to the top drivers. For the rest of us lets just try to be 1% faster.

Thanks shane for the little tips, sorry i cant quote am using ps3 but yeah i tried all last to improve my time but i cant yet, on my ghost i had really bad first sector 38.1 really bad but my split on Hanger straight was 1.38.3.. i absoluted cained it threw copse maggots an beckets.. an i can gain a tenth on last section, every lap i nail first sector am like 5 tenths up coming to copse but then i lose like 2 tenths an then threw beckets i see the shadow appear like a bad remake of jaws :( i have tried changing ghost etc.. to chase guys like yourself doesnt help it just makes me lose focus easier or i end up trying to catch up on brakes.. my cornering braking throttle is fine i just cant nail a bloody hot lap.. hot lap would see me in mid 17's :(

Just reading what shane said about Copse, sometimes you run wide, sometimes you get by an the other time you nail it.. i need this attitude just go for it an have faith in my ability that i can be in that situation many times, when i did my 18.130 i was 2 or 3 tenths down first split an i was just getting hang on brooklands an luffield so i said right lets keep going an i knew my ghost was to conservative threw copse so i just followed an nailed it kept momentum i just need to repeat it ffs :(

i keep on stuffing the first turn...then i am always plaing catch up.
need to keep on trying :/

Well my usual video every year is about to come on later today 👍. So if you are struggling it should really help! Hurry up youtube is all I can say :)! You even get wheel & Foot cam!

I updated my time from 2:24.73 to a 2:22.81 tonight. Come to think of it, I finally mastered the Stowe corner with variating speeds :D! But I'll still practice even more with that corner.

But when I complete my lap, the first corner makes it tough to hit the sweeping right corner you first meet after passing the start/finish line. Gonna keep trying later and see what I can do. 👍

nice!
looking forward to that :)

I have never used braking markers etc i just go by instinct lol.. I should maybe have a look at some people's brake markers, am not bothered about qualifying as i havent a license yet i just wana get my best 3 sectors in 1 lap.. Its so mentally draining.. I havent slept yet, i just wana beat myself an get into 17's.. I think i need couple of days break...

Should be a great watch! 👍

Just wondering who in the top times actually has a valid drivers licence so they can progress absolutely guilting if they don't have one

Out of the top 31 as of now I count 7 ineligible people that I know of. Between either being on the show already, being too young, or not being a US resident.

This is where it gets so confusing you can be out side the top times in your region but half of those can be ineligible due to lack of a licence so you can be right up there in the result without knowing it I'm 203 in my region with a 2.19.7 but who knows how many have that all important drivers licence so for all I know I could be much further up

If anyone wants to know how to do the first sector, watch my lap, just did 2:17.022 and the first sector was 37.579, completely messed up brooklands and stowe otherwise it might have been a 16.7. Be quick to save the replay because I might break into the 16s shortly 👍

Will definitely have to give this a watch, don't beat it until I'm back from work! ;) Best I've managed in the first sector is a 37.8 so definitely got time to find there.

2:19.512

I'm hoping to crack into the 2:18's if I'm lucky (unlikely), but since I'm moving at the end of this month, time is kind of limited. But the wife is gone all this week! :D

Having fun getting used to the physics. I almost want to say the tires break a little too soon, but then again these are Sports Hard tires, right? So I think the tires feel good.

Is it the top 250 from each region move on to Round 2?

37.5! Great work :)! I can see the possibility of that but to nail that takes something! So great stuff 👍
