And if your front tyres are screaming, you do it too harsh.. :)

They might be ;)

But I'm struggling to get enough lock on make the apex if I take a narrow line in (which I know is faster).

First I would just drive the track a few times as slowly as I can so you see how "much" lock there is actually needed. :)

No, that's called understeer :P

Seriously though, I've been using racing wheels for nearly 5 years now and I can assure you, the most lock I've ever used in normal racing on track (not including offs) is about 200-270 degrees, in extremely tight hairpins such as at Monaco.

You will never, repeat, never need full lock on a 900 degree wheel under normal racing conditions, unless you're trying to either do some serious drifting, or you love the smell of burning rubber ;)

Since you refer to the ol' DualShock controller, I think it's probably just your driving style. You've developed the typical manic throw-the-car-around-the-track-and-pray approach the DualShock requires. It's manhandling. The DualShock can occasionally produce faster times than a wheel, but it's not really driving.

Now that you have a wheel, take Timppaq's advice and unlearn some of the bad habits DS teaches, and learn the finer points of wheel driving. It's poised and precise, yet aggressive. Most of all it's more realistic, and you'll appreciate the physics engine a little more (including its shortcomings).

Trust me you'll be glad you did!

:lol::lol: With the way he drives on the video.... he doesn't use N1 tyres for sure... I wouls say S3 at least but I trust it's not on Pro physics...

I would love to see wjat they would do if they play the same rules

I didn't notice the video until I saw your post (went back to check it) and frankly it is insulting (not really but almost) that they get a F1 driver to give us tips while he is playing with easier settings, and watching his lap it wasn't even all that great.

Indeed, this is what I tell my Nephew all the time when he plays, I had to show him a lap in front of him to show him how little steering is really needed when done properly. He just keeps turning thinking he is going to get some magical grip from it, but in the end he can't straighten the wheel fast enough and gets snap oversteer or runs too wide on exit.

Stotty if you want to know how others do it, check youtube, I am sure there is tons of videos on G25 driving in GT5P.

Well, this is what we are all fighting for, do ya want it, well do ya?

I reckon that if the fitness test is to see if I can run to the toilet, grab a can of coke and roll a smoke without sweating/getting out of breath inbetween online races, I will be OK.

If the organisers will paint a green driving line on the track in the 24hr race, I will be OK.

If I can use night vision goggles, I will be OK.

Even if I were quick enough in the trails (can only manage a 1.24.xxx), I would have to think hard bout this one, even though they would not expect a lot from a virtual racer turned real 24hr racer, still gotta be a lot of pressure/stressful...

Anyway, good luck all!

That made me chuckle! :)

I'm with you on that one!
If I can open a can of beer and roll a fag whilst hitting the apex in turns 1,2 and 3 I'm happy!! :)

The human body and mind is a strange thing!

I've been trying to knock a 10th of a second off each session I have on the acadamy and sort of done it each time.

Yet I was still languishing around 200th.

Had a quick go tonight, concentrated on being smooth, and knocked 0.6 seconds off my best!! :)

Now sitting at 101st with 1.22.183.....may as well carry on trying now as the divorce is probably just round the corner!! hehehe! :)

Hi guys, i;m oretty new here, but been reading for a while.

I started this time trial this week (only got ps3 last weekend) and managed to get into 2808 place. Last night i managed 1555 place, so, watch out guys, i'll be headng the leader board in a couple of days at this rate lol.

Seriously though, i thought i was on ok driver till i tried this, just shows the difference between people who have been playing gt games for years, and those like me that have only been playing a few months.

Matt.

How do you get one of your times deleted? My mate (Alip944) has set a top ten time but his first corner wasn't clean. He wants to get it deleted so he can try and set a clean lap time.

I'm sure you can't. Deleting records only deletes offline info. Your mate has pissed a few people off already so it should be removed like the cheats (Accidental or not) from the French GT Academy.

@WayneGTC what is the best contact link to get the bad laps removed from GT Academy. Should we contact sony UK?

Maybe here? http://uk.playstation.com/help-support/grief-reporting/

Finally!....I've broken into the top 100! :dopey:

Well just, 97th!!

I take my hat off to everybody running a sub 1.22

I did 1.22.046 today and can't see how I can get any faster.

My aim was to get into the top 100 so I'm pretty happy :) although I bet by now I'll be back out of it again.

So, they gave him grippier tyres because he couldn't handle the car with N1s. ????????
I wish he would have spoken english, it would be nice to know what are his hints and tips for the track.. Me thinks his driving lines suck, big time.

Good news that Alip944's bad lap has been removed, just hope people aren't timing the cheat technique to land 11-20 place.

andy_cowley without Manual Clutch does a great T3 & T2. His T1 is 34.427, so I think a 1'20.5XX is possible (as Sphinx said earlier on in the thread) with DFP or G25 Sequential as I've done T1 34.042 a couple of times but I mainly get a 125-225, so its well up for grabs still.

In Holland the fastest (and clean) time is now a wopping 1'20.0xx 👍

I'm now stuck at 1'21.6xx, but I can still see some room for improvement. :)

I saw your improved time when I got home tonight from work. 👍 Too bad that you lost it in the final corner. However, I still do expect you to be the first one to get into the '19s. :nervous:

Edit> Uploaded that very fast time (hope it works, fingers crossed)

As you can see I managed to climb into the Top 20, again! Already hit 16th last week with 1'21.091 but when I checked today I had dropped to 22nd. So I'm pretty happy to finally have broken the 1'21 barrier 👍

i could be in the 19's for sure if i had a g25.....:ouch:

unbelievable though that with my new dfgt i have a disadvantage over a 3 year older wheel.....very frustating when driving a corner(for example the one before the tunnel)i do it perfect only to see the g25 driving guy blast past me in the tunnel just beceause he gains speed using his g25/clutch.......makes you think about the contest it selve doesnt it,.....i meen, what are they looking for??the best talent ,or the best setting at home to win the first part of the competition?????????????......

well whatever,if nobody will knock me out of the top 20 i will wait and see what they will challenge us with next...👍

spyrrari.

Hello!

Update from Sweden.

Eiger Academy

1:st 1.21.132
20:th 1.22.488

I´m 6:th with 1.21.843:sly:

Good luck to all of you!

Hmm..
There seems to be very strong GT communities in Europe after seeing all those superfast times of some countries. I just ave a feeling that there is not so much dedicated peole for GT5P and for the Academy here in northern Europe countries (although I don't know the times in Norway). To drive into the top 20 is not very difficult, which is good for me :indiff:. My efforts in the Academy close in a week or so, because of the holiday.. :nervous:
