ppucci: 100 % agree with both. GT4 'manual' is a waste of time, many things are not even mentioned or properly explained (like the arrows in b-spec mode....we all know now what they are, but still.... same goes for the data logger. I bet 95% of all gt4 users have no clue how to use it properly and what to take out of it). I also bet that you would have found a lot of the people in this forum who would have produced a more informative manual (made with passion and care) in less time than PD did...(just look what pics alone you find on this page...)

As for the wheel: I bought mine just last week, and I really start to enjoy it (obviously as I get better). But I had about 8 different sheets of papers, paper bits with it, some written in dwarf sized letters...Not impressed at all....Thank God for GTPlanet and the Wheel-threads.....

So PD: If you want to give your customers a better manual for GT5....look no further and call some people in this forum up!

Now there's a thread idea...

Constructive criticism for PD. And I don't mean just plain griping about what cars are in the game or not, but actual ways to help improve the whole thing from packaging to the final race.

i.e. the interface in GT4 looks cool, but works so much more clunkier than in GT3, etc. etc. And I've been dissapointed in every manual AND in the game guides too.

the Versus book for GT3 was far better than the Prima book for GT4 but neither of them got it right. The tuning pages were just the scroll bars from the game put in printed format really and Prima never even touched on B-spec.

But would any of these companies even bother to read or listen to what we here at GTP might have to say? THAT's the question...

Eurogamer: Are you still planning to release an online version of Gran Turismo 4 this year, or will this have to wait until the next version of Gran Tursimo?

Kazunori Yamauchi: That's an area we're still thinking about.

Eurogamer: So it's still undecided whether or not an online version of Gran Turismo 4 will come out this year?

Kazunori Yamauchi: Yes, that's still undecided. Maybe this year.

Eurogamer: Obviously, you will have answered this question many times, but what was the main reason for dropping the online portion of the game? Was it a problem with PS2 specifically, or something else?

Kazunori Yamauchi: There were lots of reasons. The game itself is huge in volume, and we felt that the online services were not ready to support the online game, and so the decision was taken to first allow people to play and experience the volume of GT by instead providing it offline.

Eurogamer: How do you feel about other popular racing games at the moment, such as Project Gotham, Burnout and Need for Speed? Do you see them as competition or do you see Gran Turismo as a different genre?

Kazunori Yamauchi: First of all, my feeling aside, the users feel that Gran Turismo is different, and that their aims are different also. GT has kept to its simplicity and has aimed to improve its quality and try to bring it to the highest possible standards, and based on these high quality standards there are possibilities for the future where we will be implementing lifestyle aspects such as street racing and modifications. Currently GT allows for lots of freedom for players, for GT to have many faces, many characteristics maybe, there are possibilities where that will grow in the future.

Eurogamer: How do you feel about Forza Motorsport? Obviously, Forza allows people to modify cars in this way. Is this game instrumental in your wanting to allow users to do the same in GT?

Kazunori Yamauchi: Areas such as modifications to cars are areas that I'm always interested in, and I've always wanted to include them, but to include them in GT4, I felt that the overall quality would have been reduced. I'd just like to remind you that there are 700 cars in GT4. To maintain the quality we have achieved in the game would not have been possible if we had allowed users to modify the cars.

Eurogamer: Do you think the speed of console hardware is becoming irrelevant and it's down to the imagination of the games maker to produce better experiences?

Kazunori Yamauchi: Exactly. Games must not rely on hardware specifications, but on the creativity of the developers.

Eurogamer: When we interviewed you in 2000 in Tokyo, you told us that after working on the next GT game, which turned out to be GT4, that you would like to work on something else like an RPG. Do you think that this is going to be possible, or is GT now too big for you to leave alone?

Kazunori Yamauchi: That thought has not changed at all. I would still like to do something.

Eurogamer: Within Polyphony Digital?

Kazunori Yamauchi: Yes. Within Polyphony Digital. There is a plan which is proceeding. But I'm also thinking that it will take at least three years to show something, and then another additional period to allow it to be readied for release.

Eurogamer: About PSP. Obviously you're making GT4 mobile for PSP. It's a bit of a silly question, but will it be a full version of GT4 on a handheld, and will it support wireless multiplayer?

Kazunori Yamauchi: Firstly, the answer is no. The PSP game will not be the same experience. Secondly, whether you will be able to play against each other wirelessly, the answer is yes. I've changed the focus of the PSP version of the game. The focus is on playing together.

ok time to liven things up a bit. here some of my favourite airborne pictures i've flashed to my computer. note: NONE of these have been photoshopped, i PROMISE.

there you have it....even at 100% complete there's always plenty of fun to be found in this game! take off, aey?
There's a forum for GT4 pictures. It's called (interestingly enough) GT4 Photo & Video Galleries. Please put your pictures in there, everbody, unless you're actually illustrating some technical point under discussion.

Please use the search function next time..

BTW I used the Toyota 88C-V (Minolta) which is the car acquired in the El-Capitan Endurance. All stock (no oil change) except for tyres (Hard = Front, Super-Hard = Rear)

This is exactly the right place to ask the question - the search does not always give the wanted answers and can be time consuming. One post in a large discussion thread is not a problem for anyone.

Additional cars worth trying include the two Nissans R89C, R92CP or the Pescarolo C60s. The Minolta however should give the easliest win.

ty fellas appreciate that i finally got an answer to a question ive been stuck on for quite some time now im about 43.9% done with game its gonna be a long ride lol. Thanks again!

its not photoshopped. i did that on cathedral rocks trail II reverse. pin it right at the last turn. youll see.
It seemed photoshopped to me. I'll give it a try, it looks ridicilous tought....

I'm guessing the significance of the blueness and 1998'ness of the car makes the car significant because... you own one? I used to have a list of a bunch of used cars on my computer, and I'd hate to say this, but please use the search function. Id do it for you, but I'm mway too lazy right now.

At long last.... Finished almost all the missions.. 👍 I only have MISSION 34 to do. It's quite hard and I've seen several videos on it but I can't seem to remember each corner and chicane let alone at what speed I should tackle it. :)

Don't try to memorize it through the video. You can take advice from posts and tips from the video, but when you pass the mission, it's going to be because you created your own flow with Nurburgring. Getting to know the track is the only thing that makes this mission tough (Yes, I waited 123 seconds), getting to know the car isn't that challenging, even if you are using a DS2

I've done that with each of the missions and it helped tremendously. I don't memorize the video just get some concepts like brake here, attain xxx mph here, draft there etc.. :)

haha cool, and good luck with that mission. Its a pain in the ***, and I'm sure plenty of people will agree with those 6 words.
Edit: heck, you probably agree with me too (you should anyway)

Please don't tell me to search. I am an avid supporter and user of the search function, however their is no resource that states the color of the used cars as they appear in the used car lots. The significance of the "blueness" is that the 98 prelude type S isn't available in blue, however, I know I saw one in the used car lots. I have restarted the game on a new card and i have been using the GT4 used car list and one of the family cup races to advance the game day to where the preludes turn up. I'm at day 211 (yes I've entered and quit the race 210 times) and so far no blue one. I ask of you ye ol GT comunity, does anyone know what day the special blue 98' prelude type S turns up?

Dont take that search comment offensively. I found a webpage before. Here, I'll edit my post when i find the file or whatever it was I used. It showed car color too. Sheesh

Edit: cant find it, but I totally remember it was a link posted by a GTP member in a car list thing. I used search and couldnt find it 👎 . Thats strange, because I had a list from a different website that someone posted a link to, that included color in the list, but it was on my other computer that got messed up.
