Heh, just watched the video from the OP again and find it funny that the video author finds the fact that the dashboard clock in the GT demo doesn't work while the clocks in some of Forza3s cars do is worth a mention but no other mention of any interior detail.

Towards the end of the video it shows the GT car putting a wheel onto the grass, it would've been an interesting comparison to also see the Forza car put a wheel onto the grass.

Thanks mate, now go on playing with your real spaghetti bending simulator

I just ask, what you play? GT5? lol

I just saw that on XBL they released the Nurb GP track....for 400 microsoft points, they're nuts. What if I want to get Nurb GP+Spa+Monza+Imola? 1600 ms points (23€)?? Kiss my butt seriously...

5 euro for 1 track is insane... but hey it's microsoft..

I'm lost for words.
I would have used 400 ms points for FOUR well known and complete tracks (variations included), not for one...

I was just checking Youtube and i saw this comparison of Forza and the GT5 TT demo. even though it is a bit unfair to compare a demo with a full game, we get to see how both games compare. they are both on component cables in 720p which IMO is a bit unfair to GT since it runs so well in 1080p with HDMI. Still, it's worth checking out. here's the video:

Flawed comparison. PS3 has HDMI and GT5 can output 1080p.

These videos being in 720 don't really make much a difference via youtube. Here is a video I recorded at 1920 x 1080 for the specific purpose of comparing a 720 vs 1080 video.

As you can see, it's not even noticeable. HDMI recording is too expensive, and doesn't provide much benefit, if any, via youtube.

you're not missing much. Watch the 720 version.

I don't care which game has better graphics or sound, or which one has better physics. All i care about right now is that i'm currently enjoying forza 3 while 90% of the people here are still waiting for their simulation racing game, which probably wont be released until late 2010. But when fall 2010 comes around, i'll be at the store with $360 in hand ready to pick up a PS3 and GT5.

snip...
look on page 1 andlisten that 370... sounds just like it should... find real videos of it on youtube and you will see... i just hope that sounds in gt5 will get better and better as we all saw in news few days ago...

cheers mate!

just listen the sound on Forza... Kazunori! listen zhat and make it better in gt5!

I believe that the 370Z actually sounds somewhere between the two. The tone of the exhaust is overdone in FM3, it's too nasal and "feedback-y" - also, there doesn't appear to be any intake noise, or the engine noise itself. Forza's soundscape sounds decidedly empty compared to GT5TT, and I hate hate hate (hate!!) the way the engine pitch changes! That 430 sounded like it was short-shifting in Forza... also the timbre didn't change at all over the rev range

EDIT: GT5, on the other hand, has too little resonance on the exhaust (most people would probably interpret this as "meat"), and the gas-flow is too audible. The engine-sound is too heavily mixed (as with many cars) and also an apparent lack of intake noise, though this may be hidden somewhere in the engine sound. The wind and road /tyre noise may be overdone, too.

How can you even tell with the music so loud?

Anyways, that's how the car sounds, just not as throaty.

This seems typical of many games, over-exaggeration of key components of a given car's sound in order to satisfy the Fast'n'Furious crowd. I was trying to keep an open mind about Forza 3, but now I've been put off somewhat.

Also, I don't care about making friends online, I have too many to keep in touch with as it is (and it's not that many!!) - that doesn't mean I don't enjoy the experience of racing people online, though!

Call me a fanboy, but I just don't like Forza. But the one thing that frustrates me is that people do not realise how "faked" Forza's graphics are. Most of it isn't real time, the classic case brought up of the interiors blacking out, sure, you might not notice it if your not looking for it but it just makes me feel cheated. Its that attention to detail that makes me really like GT, ever since GT1 PD/KY have strived to not just make a perfect game, but to show their passion and reflecting that in their games. You can really see the effort in GT, whereas, in Forza it just seems as if its a game wanting to make money.

The lighting is no comparison. GT is almost perfect, Forza track looks like during susnset. Forza looks more like a game, GT looks more like a movie. You can see how world reflects in the side mirrors in replays. In Forza the mirrors are black.

In terms of Graphics, can we all agree on the fact that GT5 (GT5-P, GT5-D) is unsurpassed, unparalleled?

When i watch GT5-P replays:    :O 👍

When i watch FM3 replays:  :nervous: :boggled: :indiff:  :ouch: :yuck: 👎

I may have exaggerated a bit here , but that's generally how i feel about each game...

so i am not afraid to say that i agree with "Ollie1066" and "Phil_2001"

I have played/owned GT5P, GT5TT, GT4, and all three Forza games. Here are my opinions on the games:

Forza is a great GAME. But I cannot call it a sim! It feels too "safe"; there is no "drop kick you in the gut" moments you get from racing in a sim... Almost everything can be saved. The graphics also feel very "cartoony". It doesn't feel... genuine. The feel of the game also does not feel right. The car customization and multiplayer is fun though.

Gran Turismo in general (in my opinion) embodies passion for cars and translates it into a game. For GT5P and TT, the graphics are mindblowing! They look real. I think it will get even better when the cars can get dirty and damaged... that is my one main gripe for the game; everything is so PRISTINE! That is the only real thing I find FAKE in the game (besides reverse lights and skidmarks and that stuff). I just feel comfortable in the game. The great thing is that that comfort can turn into nerveracking fear as you go over the edge of control and lose it. I cant really comment on the multiplayer but it looks great so far!

I dunno. R2 and R1 cars with all aids off can be a handful. I agree though that forza not even once made me feel like I was playing a sim.
Online racing is pretty bad and to me the storefront kind of killed the community. Yes it's nice to sell stuff online BUT being able to sell liveries and tunes online pretty much made it very hard to find good tunes for free. Everyone wanted money for everything whether good r bad. Of course you can't previes or edit any of the tunes you buy so you have to wait for reviews from others before you decide to buy. It's a great idea but it needs a tad more work.

One thing i also noticed is that on LeMans during the Mulsanne (i think that's the name) straight, if you look left/right, the barriers don't really look like you are "zooming by them". They actually look like you are going backwards! What the heck!

Turn10 should let us TEST each tuning before buying them, like we are able to do in offline mode.
It's as simple as that.

but they never will. If they did, one person could buy a tune and then sell it as their own or give it away for free.

Not at all.
GT5 looks real.
FM3 looks like a videogame.

👍
I've seen this phrase before, and it would be a perfect slogan or ad for GT5. So I put it in my sig. :)

PD would never slander another video game in any of it's campaigns.

I've seen this phrase before:)
Well I wrote the same in general discussions about a week ago :D

Not if there's a direct button for testing on a selected track....
And how could they sell them as their own? There's always the lock icon:idea:

YouTubes 1080p doesnt make any real sense at all, even on my monitor which has a native res of 1920x1200 the difference is way too small. The compressions is too strong.
Yea... I found it pretty pointless. I won't do any long captures at 1080 anymore, unless specifically requested for something.

Um, you might have seen the wrong pics or something.

That's from the demo when I first downloaded it. As you can see, you can see the world being "reflected" on the side mirror and the rear view mirror.

edit:
oops.. you're talking about replays? I'll have to check, I don't normally play the game in replay mode.

What makes the difference is how the developers manipulate SHADERS. That's what makes the cars in GT5 look REAL
PD win at that, hands down.

Example: do the gloves in fm3 look real?
You perfectly know GT but let me remind you that alcantara looks exactly like real alcantara on these sparco gloves, not to mention the rest of the dashboard. In forza everything look FLAT, plastic, fake, videogame....whatever you want to call it...
It's not only about the quality of the textures, it's also about shaders, how a specific surface looks depending on the lightning
gran-turismo-5-prologue-screens-20080306100215311_640w.jpg

IMO
FM3 is Oren-N.Diffuse Shader/Blinn Specular Shader
GT5 is Lambert Diffuse Shader/CookT. Specular Shader

If GT5 is so perfect why doesn't it have skid marks or reverse lights then? Does that mean that Forza is more perfect then GT5?

Because PD is too busy with useful features.
