Am I the only one that likes the GT4 career mode more than GT5's? Not talking about graphics, tracks, gameplay or anything else; just strictly the career mode. How many of you feels the same way?

I do for sure, I think it was a lot better infact purely because of the A-Spec points system.

I'm disappointed with the length of it, and with the fact that doing the licenses have little effect on which races you can enter. I personally liked the way you worked your way up through the licences. I'm also missing the manufacture races (especially the Clio cup and some of the one make races), they added to the games lasting power.

I like that the licenses aren't important anymore (I could never pass them, always had to have a friend get the last two for me). Other than that, I preferred GT4's career too.

I loved the A-Spec points in GT4. I liked that you had to get the proper license to run in the races. I liked that you could re-win and sell the prize cars and I liked that there were tons of races to keep you busy for ages.

Yet what GT really needed was a multiplayer mode which we now have but it still needs more added to it. Prize and XP awards, leaderboards and not just those stock time trails from GT5P but a leaderboard that you can record the times you actually turn while racing or hot lapping the tuned cars from your garage.

I hope they give us either the credit and xp awards or leaderboards in the next update. At this point the credits and xp are the most important imo but both need to be added asap.

Some of the manufacturer races in GT4 were very good. The Clio mentioned above was good, The Speedster challenge was very good as were several of the others.

I was also a bit shocked to see that in GT5 almost all of the races had been shortened and tire wear and restrictions removed. This was a big factor in GT4 that I was looking forward to in GT5.

The only thing I miss form GT4 is the sheer number of events. If we had that many in GT5 (preferably with more laps than we currently have) I would be even happier with the game than I am now. Oh well, I can hope for some DLC I guess.

I agree with you ....

Haven't played GT4 in a long time, but it seems there was a lot more to do in GT4. Also why are license tests in GT5 if they don't dictate what races you can enter? Seems a tad unrealistic

GT4 was a better game than this were gt5 is a better simulation than gt4 was. And to have a leader board were going to need car classes cause if not the same cars are going to atop of the leader board. (X1) So we cant have leader board till we get car class

Its a shame GT4 cant be made/updated with the graphics of GT5.

I for one would buy that in a heartbeat.

I much prefer GT4's way of doing things. I really feel i accomplished something by doing the license tests, just to enable me to enter certain events.

Once im done with GT5 i will go back to GT4 and start from scratch seeing as i have a wheel now. I always used the DS2 before. Should make for an even better experience. Yeah the graphics and physics may not be like GT5,........... but it is GT4 you know?

I think that the career mode was much much better in GT4 and here are the reasons.

More events
Dealship events
License tests had a meaning
Special Missions
The ability to save and to qualify in the championships
Events had restrictions

To be honest, I think the "career mode" in GT5P is better than GT5's career mode.

To be honest the only reason I'm not playing GT4 alongside GT5 is because the paddles don't work on the Driving Force EX and I have to use the R2 + L2 buttons. I'm sure I'll live though.

Do you know if there are any issues with the DFGT and GT4?.

By far my favorite event in GT4 was the Opel Speedster Challenge, I am highly disappointed that GT5 does not include this.
I would much rather have that, than any NASCAR stuff.
Go Karts were pretty fun though!

Don't own one myself but I've seen some vids with the gear shifter working, I imagine the paddles should work too because it looks like it's closely related to the DFPro.

I spent brief time playing GT4 and it was a long time ago so I don't remember much. Did the events include actually racing the AI, unlike GT5?

I miss GT4 as well, too bad I've sold my PS2 and games long time ago...

GT4 was such a complete game, better career mode, better rewarding system, better B-Spec imo, even the lame rally racing has more events than GT5...

You get the whole picture.

Yes I miss GT4's career so much, i remember being so overwhelmed by the sheer size of gt4 and there was like 5000 events :D I was never bore of it, I like the fact there were easy races to earn big money, so I could play the game at my own pace.

GT5 forces me to grind just so i can buy my favrite cars, it really doesnt allow me to progress the game at any pace I want. Im progressing like a snail because cash is so hard to obtain in this game, and i keep seeing my favorite cars at the used lot so I never have enough money to buy a car for an event. So really everyday I just grind because i dont have a choice.

I find gt4 better in everyway besides graphics. Hell I rather prefer changing rims on 800+ cars like in gt4 then only changing 200 stupid cars that i rarely use, and only 15 of those can be RM'd!! What is this, honestly. GT5 is as tiny as GT3 in my oppinion :(

p.s I miss NA challenge, 4wd challenge, MR challenge, etc etc, there was just about every challenge for every drivetrain, turbo or N/A, everything is just BETTER! :(

Although i'm having a blast with GT5. I can't help but think about what they've been working on for 6 years. I'm assuming GTHD, Prologue and GT on PSP took up 3 or 4 of those years? The game to me feels rushed and unfinished. The career mode isn't very lengthy at all nor is it extremely challenging. Lack of XP in on-line mode seriously blows. I played yesterday on-line (btw, Nascar on-line is a blast until you run into clowns driving in the wrong direction) for a good 5 hours and have NOTHING to show for it. Makes no sense to me.

I miss a lot about GT4 but the A-Spec is what I miss most. After getting 100% (darned Mission 34 took forever) I spent hours getting to 100,000 A-Spec points. And it was fun.

Not only were there more events in GT4, but the events were also longer.

There were "Championship" races that had 10 separate races in them. There are many events GT5 that are only 1 race!!! 👎

There were some races in GT4 that you needed to pit because of the number of laps. Now the only races where pitting is needed is in endurance. 👎

Speaking of that, why do we learn how to exit the pits in the NASCAR challenge and restart after a caution if there are no races that require you to pit? And there are no cautions. 👎

SuperGT without pits? 3 races? 👎

I think the length of the events is more of the problem than just the lack of them. If they were longer and had more individual races and more laps, I think there would be less disappointment.

The DFGT works well with GT4. You do get a bit of the death wobble on some tracks that shows up in GT5P but nothing that can't be dealt with. When I got my DFGT I went back to GT4 and started over. I ran like 80 races or so and enjoyed it right much. Graphics are pretty hard to deal with after playing the later games though. It's like you can not see far enough ahead on the track and makes corners a bit tricky. Gets better after you begin to adjust to it.

Set it to 480p and use componet cables to connect to your tv for best results.

GT4's career mode is HUGE! To this day I'm only at 87% (still have some endurance, manufacturer & the really hard rallies left).

Thanks for the tip 👍

Im only at level 19 in GT5, so it may take me a little while until im done with it. When i am, bring on GT4. It will be like the feeling you get when you put on those fav pair of jeans that fit just right :)
