The included diecast car is an exclusive 1:43 scale 2009 Nissan GT-R Spec V with a custom Gran Turismo livery designed by Polyphony Digital, produced by well-known collectible car maker Kyosho, who have been making some of the best collectible diecast cars for over 20 years. The 300+-page exclusive Collector’s Edition book from Polyphony Digital will be essential reading for GT fans, containing everything from the history of the automobile, to driving techniques, professional racing tips, car and engine basics and tuning know-how, and reference data about Gran Turismo 5. I want to warn you that the Collector’s Edition has a limited run, so pre-order it quickly if you want to guarantee your copy for position, the Stig on the Top Gear test track, and much more. The exciting pre-order program for Gran Turismo 5 offers exclusive and beautiful in-game cars as bonuses, including the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, Nissan GT-R GT500, McLaren F1, and more. Each car features an exclusive and stylish Gran Turismo-themed “stealth” livery custom-designed by Polyphony Digital, with select performance upgrades over the standard versions of the cars available in the game. Pre-orders offers will be coming soon at participating retailers for both the standard and Collector’s Edition versions.

Wait, you mean to say you only get to drive as The Stig in the Collectors' Edition? I'm in.

Damn why can't gamestop.ca or amazon.ca or .com get preorders for us poor canadians.?

GT is the only game where I play the current version up till a new one comes out, this collector's edition is so worth it.

Collector's editions are allways crap, whether we want to admit it or not :D

Buying CE is more to about showing respect to developers and brand. I have not decided if i buy CE or not as the PAL version has not been announced.

The 300 page book will make it worth the higher price for me.
GT always had an extremely good play time/money ratio so its worth it anyway.
Compared to a movie or a tank of gas for the bike its a really good deal.
(Mind you, gas is at ~1,45€ per liter! here)

I'm not that concerned with the book; if it just has stats and images of the cars, it's really not worth that much. If it has a bunch of insight into the 6-year process of bringing the game into our homes, that'd be interesting. If it has "driving tips", it's still not very useful to me personally since we've had those numerous times.

The DLC cars attract the completist in me, and the car model is worth the extra outlay on its own. Plus I imagine its value can only raise over the years...

So, is anyone else a little confused about these DLC cars?

You get a voucher for 5 DLC cars with custom liveries if you get the CE, but some of the retail places (Amazon, Gamestop, etc) are including these with the purchase of the game.

So, does this mean that whoever gets the CE will get all of the cars that are being offered as exclusive content? But if you do not get the CE, you only get the cars specified for that retailer?
The 5 cars with the Collector's Edition have not been detailed. It should be assumed that they will be different than the preorder bonus cars. So, if you get the CE and preorder from Gamestop you may be getting seven different cars.

They are exclusive in the sense that you don't need to buy x5 copies of the game from x5 different retailers to get all the cars (which would cost you more than just buying the CE)

Don't get offended when I say I'll believe it when I see it.
Til someone official says something, I won't choose sides as to what I think the deal with these 5 cars is.

I know anout the SLS AMG, the GT-R and the McLaren F1, but has anybody else heard what the other two cars will be?

What GT-R? Amazon has the sls and gamestop has the F1, who has the gtr?

Yea, after re-reading the official site. http://us.gran-turismo.com/us/news/d5232.html

I think you have the most plausible explanation.

And if we get 5 exclusive cars... I hope it is five different F1 cars. ;) I know that wont happen.

No offence taken. :) It is really just an assumption based on what we know so far.

The article that disclosed information about the CE said that 3 of the cars were the SLS, Mclaren F1 and Nissan GTR with two more to be disclosed at a later date.

Because the pre order cars are looking like being the same as the CE cars (Amazon/Gamestop) people including I have assumed that the rest of the cars (or at least some of them) should be pre order cars too.

So assuming that, some other retailer like best buy I guess should have the GTR since it is the only other car announced.

This fits with the companies that did pre order bonus' for GTPSP (gamecrazy has shut down now so theres only 3 major retailers).

I guess then assuming the CE and Pre order cars are the same you can get 3 of the cars by pre ordering but only all 5 if you buy the CE.

I see that you're from toronto, did you preorder your's yet? I would preorder from the states with amazon.com had it already so I could ship it to a shipping depot across the border, but paying brokerage for having gamestop shipping it to canada is nuts

I'm just eating the cost with gamestop 👎

Just asked at my local Gamestation about the pre-order, they said the details haven't been released by Sony yet (Which I already knew - I was hoping I could pre-order it in advance, seen as we already know there is going to be a Collectors edition here too), but then he went on to say I could pre-order the standard edition and then upgrade that when the details are released.

I said yes, because the great thing is, this shop doesn't require a deposit on pre-orders. I mean come on, I could just go buy it elsewhere if the price isn't good. If other places don't have it in for cheaper, or are out of stock, then I have one already reserved.

Win-win :D

All I have to do is go back in a couple of weeks when the details are released, and upgrade the pre-order. They should be releasing details of the CE on the Europe playstation blog. Gamescom will most likely be for new features.

Actually, it said three of the pre-order cars were those.

I see nothing in any official news that tells me that it looks anything like that. what I do see is Internet forums jumping to conclusions and misquoting press releases. Please, be careful. This is how all the GT rumors get started and where all the haters get their "PD LIED!!!" defenses.

Thanks for clearing it up actually. I thought myself when I read the article off the us playstation blog that it actually said those cars were part of the collectors edition not pre orders. In my haste clearly miss-read it.

People who are going off about "PD lying" need to go take a dip in the antarctic. So someone lied/someone misread something etc. who cares its still just a game and I for one will enjoy it whatever the final product ends up being.

Amazon.com has now put on a preorder for GT5 Collectors. one says "sign up to be notified" and other says you can preorder now

I called customer service about the difference in the 2 and they say basically it's just because they are getting the items from different distributors hence the different ASIN numbers.

YES I just preordered off the listing that is available for preorder, thank you amazon for the 10 dollar giftcard from god of war 3 hehehe......so happy I got mines from amazon instead of crapstop.👍

good for you

Amazon has since taken off the "sign up to be notified" place holder to clear up the confusion.

Canadians can now preorder from amazon.COM and ship it to a shipping depot in the states of their choice, so they won't get dinged a brokerage fee from couriers.

cheers !

I checked Amazon this morning, saw it still wasn't available, and pre-ordered at my local Gamestop. Oh well, at least I don't have to wait for it to ship.

They fixed all the issues with the preorder placeholder shortly after I called in and the customer rep was like "oh!, ya we're gonna fix that now"

You guys in US can order at ur local gamestop, in Canada, EBgames (gamestop.ca) has yet to even announce any pre orders for this collector's edition
