Its new I am from IVG, they confirmed there will be two CEs for GT5

It only refers to PAL region though. It doesn't specify whether Japan or North America will get 2 Collectors Editions. They probably will, but we'll have to wait and see.

Oh no, Standard and premium collectors edition.

Brilliant 👍

The ultimate edition does sound amazing in premise, hope it is actually limited so its worth the value. However saying that the games about 4 months away wouldn't mind this being available for pre-order soon

I just read on another website that theres possibly two collectors editions. The second collectors edition is going to be a lot bigger and car related. If there is a second collectors edition with a special GT5 wheel I will certainly buy it.

Out of curiosity has anybody driven GT5 Prologue with both the new GT5 wheel (the one with that big red adjuster wheel) and the G25? If so is the new wheel as good with Force Feedback towards the G25?

The FFB isn't as powerful on the DFGT as it only has 1 motor compared to 2 on the G25/G27 and it feels a little more fragile, like it may break if it's on too high a setting. I think it is slightly smaller too, and I don't think it can be bolted down to a surface like the G25/G27 can (It can be clamped down, but they can come loose as someone found out in GTacademy while in the final Nurburgring race...)

It's the pedals and lack of stick shifter that let it down the most though. Probably more worth it to get a G27. If you can still find a G25 new get that instead, it's so much better value. Wouldn't advise second hand though.

As a matter of fact, it can be damaged :P

Only scratches and dirt :p (And performance)

Thank you for the info. I already have a G25. I was just curious about the DFGT because it has the buttons to adjust settings while in a race. Ive also built a temporary wheel sand with a few bits of wood I had lying about.

Sorry for going off topic guys.

If theres only the announced collectors edition I wont be buying it. Im not interested in whats on offer.

Just map the buttons on the shifter to do it...although it would be nice having it on the wheel...

If there are going to be 2 CE's then I think the difference will be that the cheaper CE will have a die-cast GT-R without a cockpit!

Also, when you throw it at the wall, only the premium CE will break and show the inside of the car. The standard CE, however, will just be dented :sly:

Well if there are ''2 limited edition'', I do hope the biggest does come with the contents of the smaller limited edition. Like the MW2 limited editions.

If it's anything like MW2 then you would probably get a Racing Helmet. I would probably pass if it was just a helmet.

The other CE is supposed to be bigger than the announced CE with more content not with less content than the announced CE. Also I dont understand why people wear racing gloves , racing socks / shoes , the racing suit or helmet while playing a racing game. Its just a game.

On the issue of the DFGT and G25, I own both, and find the DFGT to be better with Prologue and the TT demo, since they're directly compatible. Force feedback is very similar. You trade off the clutch and shifter of the G25/27 for an awkward button assignment. Frankly, I'd wait for GT5 to get closer, because I'm sure that PD and Logitech will work on a real Gran Turismo purpose built G series wheel. If not, and you're not a clutch and shifter fiend, the DFGT is a great wheel, and cheaper. But a new G wheel for GT5 is practically guaranteed at some point.

yeah this is what im worried about, I want to buy a DFGT, but I keep thinking to myself that a new wheel is coming out......at the same price

Same reason why racing drivers wear gloves as they grip steering wheel.
That doesnt explain why people playing racing sims wear gloves. Ive driven real cars , raced go carts (not those crap go carts on tiny tracks btw) and I use my own G25 without the gloves and my hands grip the wheel just as well as gloves do. Also race drivers wear gloves for protection in case of a crash or fire.

Plus your hands can sweat, which means gloves are useful, because they can be washed easily, unlike your wheel cover (Or handlebars in the base of a bike).

I've read a lot here, used some of the great tunes, but haven't posted. I had not played gt5p in a few weeks and wasn't watching the news on it. In that time I completely missed the release of the CE. It is now preordered. Can't friggin wait to drive the mclaren, it and I are going to spend countless hours on the ring. I just need a wheel now....

I went today and make my pre-order for the GT5 at a shop in Lisbon called GAME.

I asked if they were already doing pre-orders for the CE or for the normal version only, and the guy replied "Which of both CE?" This puzzled me and I try to find out a little bit more.

To make a long story short, the guy seemed to me rather balanced and not making "wild guesses" out of his hat. I told me that there is no solid information yet about the CE for Europe. What it seems to be "on the table" at the moment is a CE similar to the one announced at E3 (model+book+key chain), and a more "complete" CE which is rumoured to include a Logitech wheel.

For all the matter this is nothing solid, and it should be took with a pint of salt at the moment. I posted it to see if this seems anywhere familiar to anything someone might have heard of.

Oh, btw, he told me also that the release information he has at the moment is 7th or 8th November.

AGAIN PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THIS AS ANYTHING SOLID.

That sounds plausible.

However, if it's a DFGT count me out. If it's a new Logitech wheel (DFGT upgrade, maybe with a clutch, or a decent stick shift?) then I might just go for that. Providing it's under £200 (For the complete package).

There is at the moment, a huge gap in the wheel market. the DFGT retailed at around £80-100. The G27 retails at around £220-240. Some people may want a decent wheel but feel the G27 is too much and the DFGT is too cheaply made (Wheel is too small, pedals - particularly the brakes, not enough feel and are made of plastic etc.). The G25 is well out of production now, so it's difficult to get hold of one of those that isn't used. It would be a good marketing move, and I feel a lot of people who don't own a wheel may consider stretching that little further to get a new GT brand wheel with the new game.

The Ultimate Edition will probably include a t-shirt, poster, maybe a helmet, maybe a racing wheel, a book, probably a making-of DVD, an autographed copy of GT5, and maybe a 1:18 scale model of the GT-R. It also might be that the "Ultimate Edition" is a PS3 Bundle. And the price might hint at a price drop for the PS3.

Stig's helmet?

I doubt they'd sell the Stig's helmet at 1/4th of its normal cost. On the Simpson website, it retails for about 400USD, and assuming the first 100USD was the original collectors edition, there is no way they'd be selling the helmet for 100 bucks.
