OK, I have a question or two

Why don't journalists ask Sony they're not giving us the release date? And if journalists HAVE asked, why don't they tell us what Sony's answer was?

I know they asked Kaz and he replied about the discs being pressed/stamped but it feels like there have been a couple of events since that and no one has asked.

They are a very strict company. Go ahead and ask them whatever you want, they ALWAYS have the same response, "We don't comment on rumors or speculation".

When they want to tell us when the game will come out, they will do so on their own schedule, not when anyone in the media just casually asks them about it.

Because journalists are uncovering political scandals, reporting on wars, writing about newly discovered cures, and the like. Their audience doesn't care about any delay.

The only ones who could/would ask, because they have an audience that cares, are the PS3 mag/blog guys. They're hardly journalists, but they're the best we've got. And they wouldn't dare ask for fear that their access to Sony games/loot would be forever revoked.

It's ridiculous for Sony to hold the anouncement that much. If thet don't know yet, tell us. If they do, make the ***** anouncement. Gone gold, right? We're waiting, damn't!!!

Make an announcement that they don't know anything? Are you serious? How stupid would they look? "Hey folks, attention please. Ahem, we have nothing to say about the release date at this moment. Thank you"

I think it'd be kinda mean if they made an announcement to say "we don't know yet". I think they're waiting until they are 100% sure at this point when it's going to be released.

Sorry guys, but I really think it's going to be next year sometime hopefully before the holiday season (2011). Think about it... No mention of anything and then boom, release date next week! Not gona happen. They have stopped all the marketing for this game since the push back. Sony is going to want at least a solid two months of heavy marketing before any release. Just my two cents, but I sure hope I'm wrong

I kinda agree that everything on the internet is /b/ now. Granted I don't really browse /b/ that much, but I've been on 4chan (as well as 7chan) before it got big with that FOX News bit. Making something mainstream really turns something gay. It becomes hackey while it was actually humorous when it wasn't popular.

The least Sony can do is tell us the new release date for announcing the release date of the new release date. Wait..:confused:..I'm confused.

That's been my hunch since early this year. Even when it got close to 11/2 I never really felt like it was actually coming out this year.

After it got delayed then I REALLY felt like it wasnt coming out this year. Then came the rumors that a new release date would be announced by the end of October, which of course came and went.

As far as im concerned everything reported at this point is just more internet rumors. Sony hasnt officially announced that it was coming out this year, that it's gone gold, nothing. And it's already November. All we have is some site that noone's ever heard of saying that Kaz said it should be out this year. Yeah I wont put any money on that one.

It's pretty much at the point where even if anything is announced I refuse to believe it until I see the actual game with my own eyes. And Im sticking to my prediction of spring 2011, somewhere around march or april.

Can't see that happening, regardless of when we get the game, for a couple of resaons.

Mainly - Once the disc is in your PS3, there will be zero difference between versions, aside from a couple of bonus cars, which I'm sure were modelled ages ago.
Also, they can't possibly make people who have paid more for SE or CE wait longer than those who get the standard version.

You've waited a ridiculously long amount of time for this game. Even though you're impatient, like I am as well, if they announce tomorrow it's coming out in March, you'll wait just because you have to. It's really not that big of a deal relative to how long we've already waited. There was a time years ago when people thought that a 2008 release was too long.

In this case if they feel they actually NEED til march to finish it, then it's probably for a damn good reason. If there is some critical bug that caused the delay that will take some time to fix, do you really want to spend $60 on that?

In your hypothetical situation, I think most of us would still pay 60 bucks for a critically flawed game because if anything, it would force sony/PD to get a patch out ASAP. Secondly, unless Kaz is lying, the game has already gone gold, so its been finished for a couple weeks now.

There is no real proof he ever said that aside from what 1 random website said. And if you read the IGN article, it specifically says that it's only reported that he said that.

Ive never seen a game in all my 25 years of gaming go gold, with no release date, no definitive proof that it's actually gone gold, no word from anyone close to the game, so in this case with the development history of this game, I would take that rumor with a grain of salt.

How would you think that that's even remotely plausible? When it's released, the Standard, Collector and Signature Editions will all be released at the same time. It might appear that stores only have the Standard (or at the very least have significantly more Standards than the other versions in stock) but that will be because they're either holding onto the pre-orders of the Collectors and Signatures or they are selling them out.

Stopped reading there. Have you ever heard of jalopnik before? Every game that goes gold has an official announcement about it. EVERY game. I have never seen a game go gold without a release date, with no OFFICIAL word from anyone about it, and I dont mean some random site noones ever heard about.

This is a very typical internet rumor. News articles are labeled that when there is no supporting proof from any credible source close to the developers or publishers, and none of those people have even mentioned anything about it going gold.

Several other sources have confirmed the same thing and so has Sony.

If you're right trust me I'd be very glad to hear that. I just haven't seen anything official yet. I've been waiting so long for this game that anything outside of official press releases means nothing to me. And even those im pretty skeptical about at this point.

I'm not going to get all fired up about playing it this year until it's actually in my hands.

Ignorance isn't an excuse; Jalopnik is a pretty well known automotive blog. I question if the game is actually complete and being pressed too, but that description is in no way close to what Jalopnik is.
