"The Gran Turismo 5 Time Trial Challenge contest will run from December 17, 2009 through 5PM PST on January 25, 2010, and the game itself will be removed from the PSN store on the same day."

So this bothers me, we are only allowed to play this demo from December 17th to the 25th of January. I'm excited, but its only a month. If they were going to do just a month, they should've added a track that doesn't go in a wide oval. The Nurburgring would've been a better choice because there's so many sections to master, and can literally take months to be perfected with one car. BUT- this will be better than watching videos and reading any news on GT5. I'm looking forward to driving in circles! :D

You can only DL it for a month, I doubt they can make it unplayable after a month.

Read the bolded part please

The GT5: Prologue demo from the Japanese Store was also removed after a month or so and i can still fire it up, just like GTHD Concept.

EDIT: By the way, if i see one American complain again i will freak out.
Everyone will be able to play it, US and Canadian users just cant participate in the Academy but win tickets for the Indy 500.
This is not directed at anyone here but i get annoyed how often i have to read "we Americans cant play it" which is false.

Yeah. If you download it to your HDD doesn't it stay there until you clear it off personally or can they access your PS3 and delete it without your permission?

It will stay on it until you personally take it off. The only way Sony has access to your HD is if they are physically there.

Its not longer available in the store itself, but it remains on your HDD(without the online functionality I imagine after the date) and no, Sony won't delete it from your Hdd.

I guess I'm the only one that noticed the tires are on backwards on that 370Z... Generally PD are anal about attention to detail.

If you think going to an Indy(worst series in the world) race is anything comparable to a chance at becoming a professional driver, then you should think about it again.

They can place a date/time limit on how long it remains accesible. After that it is just an unplayable file.

I've run across it in timed online beta tests and any rentals from the video store.

But it just said it would no longer be available on the store.

Having been to both Indy oval and road races, I disagree with this. And I would love to go to the Indy 500. That is where they go all out.

But you are correct, it is not even close to getting a shot at becomeing a professional driver.

Cool beans then! This is going to be epic! There is talk of the track being Indy, but I don't think that is a challenging enough track to be deciding someones future racing career off of. What are ya'lls thoughts?

@Ismoke: I know that, but there are so many people complaining that they cant play it (mostly random guys who couldnt win against the pros anyway) which is wrong. And by the way, a live Indy race is awesome, if you dont like it, fine.

but I don't think that is a challenging enough track
You know theres a GP track in the infield?

Did not know that. Probably should have.:dunce: Thanks mate.

I'll probably do the same thing I did with the Forza 3 demo...

Play it so much that when I get the full game, I never want to see that track again.

They can easily deactivate with code included in the download, it can be time sensitive, just in the way temporary trials of software can be downloaded off the internet for PC's.
Or at any moment in time it can be deleted as soon as the PS3 is online. Remember how thousands of E-reader owners had their E-books remotely deleted after they even fully purchased them legitimately. They were refunded the money to their accounts, but they were not asked for permission it just happened (due to licensing errors of the publisher). It's the equivalent of buying GT5 in your local shop and then a few weeks later they break into your house and take away your game but leave you the cash it cost you and an apology. It's outrageous but legal in the remote online context.

Well damn. Maybe you could copy the data to your flashdrive card and then they couldn't delete it, unless they have some sort of tracking device in the game code and on the date, they come over to your house , break down the door, hit you in the face with the back of the rifle(should you refuse their vocal request to dispose of the data) and take the card from you.

For me I want to compete worldwide, so if all we get is a trip to Indy, no thanks. I want the world competition :D But it is odd that Japan isn't listed either.

You would think if they were going to take it to that many countries, they'd do something for Japan as well wouldn't you. Surely they'll at least get the demo as well...
