GT5 EU Road Laws: Why?

I've heard and seen these rooms but I don't know what they're about. Is it just driving under 40mph or something and if so, isn't that just boring?

While i don't understand those rooms myself there is a good reason to drive the tracks slowly sometimes. Pros often walk through the track they are going to race on to have a closer look at the track details and conditions and i have sometimes driven laps at slow speed to do the same in GT4 and GT5. You can see a lot of track detail that you might miss at racing speeds this way.

Personally, I love these rooms, they can be great fun with the right people. You've just got to play along. Like today, I got pulled over, and I explained to the person who was a cop that I was being chased by a rabid weasel.

Did you happen to have one of these attached to your car?

I find these rooms pretty fun as well, if you're with the right people and use generated tracks at Toscana or Mt Aso.
Usually, the speed limit is around 130 km/h, with an occasional cop or two chasing after the speed violators, which tends to be everybody on a straight. In the rooms I've been in, getting caught doesn't result in getting kicked, just getting your car severely damaged.

The few times I've been in a room like this, I put on some lower grip tyres, turn abs off, and just cruise around the track at the allowed speed, until I get to a lone straight, at which point I often decide to floor it.
It still surprises me how satisfying it can be. 👍

I've tried these types of rooms. It's hard for these rooms to stay organized. But take out your favorite open top for a drive, not a race.

As in real life, the urge to floor it will always kick in.

I think these kind of servers would be better if everyone wouldn't drive some super car around the track. Usually I get hit when driving my little S13 or Evo IV.

I use to drive and cruise in these rooms now and then, talking on the mic etc. I hardly race for real in gt5, the closest i come to racing is street drag on ssr7 and indy.

Mostly I figured it would be full of people roaming around in supercars being annoying. But that's most of the online anyway, so I might try one.

They are fun I bring a GTR Spec V to it and I always tell them all the upgrades are mainly for grip, cop tried chasing me in a s2000 Amuse, I won. I never get kicked but if they don't catch you then you have to slow down and just drive normally until you see them. SSR7 is my domain

It's realistic compared to actual real life for starters and the speed limit is usually 70, not 40. I find these lobbies very good myself, I've got a group of friends that I have who are in the lobbies that we set up almost all the time and I find it pretty good to see everyone's cars. Though they don't actually follow the rules much But I don't like anyone else's public lobby, because almost all the time you're guaranteed to see an FGT or an X2010 running around and it's just really annoying.

In such rooms you can drive the track backwards (where allowed, for example at La Sarthe) as long as you keep right (ideally half the participating players on each direction). Some rooms might have "special rules" as no speed limits on certain areas, etc. If well done/executed by the participating players, they kind of recreate what a free roaming mode would be.

Nothing does, but common sense can at least halt you from trying. Although no one in the public lobbies really bothers to use it

Makea about as much sense as playing house, in say Demons Souls.

I understand the racing aspect can get boring in this game....but reallly? If you are bored go get into your real car and drive around your neighborhood. Better yet get SIMs and you can have the social part. Dunno...just trying to help.

You can drive around and take in all the little details that PD have put into the game, without worrying about a Red Bull smashing your car into oblivion. I know you can do this offline but it's somehow not the same. Plus every now and again a 'police' chase can be fun and it gives you an excuse to pull some stunts
