GT5 keeps freezing. Very close to giving up the game completely.

In the last week I've experienced so many issues trying to play gt5.
The only way is to log off the PSN otherwise the game doesn't start. I haven't been able to log into gt for 2 days! Please note that the ps3 has no issues logging into PSN itself, it's just GT5

What's wrong with gT5 servers??? I'm really starting to have enough of this waiting times!

Even when I finally manage, the game freezes every 5 minutes!!

There are so many causes of network lack of performance that I won't list them here. But it seems a problem with your network and not with Sony's.

I've had the same problems for a couple of days now,tried joining a friends lounge and it wouldn't let me no matter what i did.(nat type1 or 2 doesn't matter)The same for online matches.👎

Took me ages to get online yesterday. Game froze a number of times.
Eventually got on and hosted a room.

Doesn't sound like a problem my end.

ps3 connects to PSN without any problems....GT5 freezes ALL THE TIME

Depends on your router, but I'm wired and I do it just to make sure I never experience any hiccups on my end while playing online.
 
I had a problem today that was kind of odd. I was able to join a lobby, then not able to race. And they weren't in a race, just free mode.

edit:
Maybe GT5 wanted to be the "big brother" and not let me race X1s and GTs with a suzuki cappuccino.

I've had no problems at all since the first few days after the games release.
 
Could it be I have a defective disc, I wonder?
What's the likelihood of that?

very unlikely that some things would work and just one thing would be effected if the disc was defective
 
I too think it's something related to the connection to GT5 servers.

for example this morning I tried to launch GT5 before going to work and it wouldn't even load to the selection screen.
so I quickly signed out of the PSN, and instantly it worked

why on earth is this happening I wonder?:grumpy::grumpy:
I y can play "off-line" no problems, but I never experienced any such issue with any other game with my Ps3

I obviously have the latest patch installed:ouch::ouch:

my wireless internet connection on the PS3 works fine (NAT 2), and connects to PSN almost instantly so I don't really know what to check apart from trying DMZ

Then one day i was firing up the game and it says my date and time is wrong (as it always had) i thought what the heck and exit the game and went to settings for time and date, had that automatic update and i have not had 1 single probem with online play in GT5 since.

Could be some strange coincidence but could be worth a try ;-)

that's interesting as when I launch GT5 it actually says something like "check your time settings".
I never cared as my time is actually correct.

what automatic update are you talking about though? how do I fix this?
I think I have my PS3 on automatic time setting
 
I have a problem also, I have a friend and whenever we are in the same room we can chat together but we can never get on the track together. We found this out because one day I joined a room he was in and did a few race but he was never in the race, I asked him if he was gonna race any and he say he just won the last race, when on my screen I won the race, I am not on his screen, and he is not on mine, if he is the host of a room it will not let me join, we became friends because we had a good race on the ring together so we have raced together, y can't we now?
 
I too will add my name to the list of those people who have never had a problem. In fact, GT5 is the smoothest online experience I've had in months. My friends and I all agree.

Let me just state this though;

1. You must set your Playstation to a static IP address. Get it's current address in the Network settings and just set it up identical.
2. You must foward all the playstation ports to the IP address you selected in step 1. The ports required are shown here. http://manuals.playstation.net/document/en/ps3/current/settings/connecttest.html

If you don't know how to forward ports get someone who does or see if you can find a guide here. http://portforward.com/
3. Do not, under any circumstances, put your PS3 in the DMZ. This is a huge security threat and whilst there aren't any known exploits for the PS3 at the moment there soon could be.
4. Yes, you still need to port forward if using a wired connection.
5. You should be able to join lobbies and games without doing the above but you can't guarantee how good a connection you'll get. You most likely will not be able to host without doing this.

I cant remember the exact specifics of it ( I know my way around a PC backwards but not the PS3 ) but you'll find it in the "Network Settings".

As an online gamer you either have to have someone who knows sort you out or you need to know a little bit about single range IP addressing.

I also have a launch Ps3 (60GB).... maybe it's a more common issue for older consoles, as the game pushes the PS3 to the limits?
please note that it can't be overheating, as many times the games freezes after 1 minute of having the console on.

btw yesterday during one freeze I even manage to lose a gift paint.... after finally unfreezing, the game said "failure to upload"...lost..bye bye

I have done a complete reinstall of the files and port forwarding and the first results are promising!!!!!
 
I always have problems, have given up online racing unless it's a GTP event that have been scheduled. Very annoying, as that was the feature that should have made GT5 a star compared to GT4. Just haven't worked yet, disappointment.

You still need to. DMZ basically bypasses all security functions of your router. It essentially makes it like the router isn't even there. It doesn't matter if you are wired or wireless, it will help.
 
i did forwarding not DMZ
so far it works perfect....let's see how long it lasts
 
I was definitely too quick in saying it's better....

it's as slow as before....

the on-line implementation of this game is hopeless.....
