I think Sony is setting us up for a "surprise" release. It will lessen the PR sting of the delay of the Nov. 2nd planned release. I'm guessing we'll see that Butler guy leaving the "move" house, and going to Indy or something in a week or two on the TV.

If it did come out on the 23rd i'm unsure if i'd even get hold of it on release day. They might as well just release it a week later.
This is very true... if Sony wants to make any money and get the greater share of the Holiday seasons shopping spree, they better get on the bandwagon FAST, the sooner the better, if people dont know GT5 is coming,
they will buy MS Kinect or spend all of the allowance now on the MOVE, no more budget for GT5... Nov 2 release would have been perfect!
I really don't think it matters when GT5 comes out from the point of disc sales. I think the important thing is Sony's view on PS3 sales. If they need to maximise them in the run up to Christmas, then they must announce a release date soon. Even if the release date is post-Christmas, people will still buy a PS3 prior in anticipation of GT5.
I agree with you on this strategy, but if people dont see GT5 out, they might as well by the Kinect instead,

I just got an order update email from amazon.co.Uk saying my GT5 collectors edition will be shipped on the 17th of december.
I still have the email to confirm it.

Did you know that your Amazon UK can still email you to say that the game will be there in January 12th 2011?
As for me, i got an email for a long lost friend, he told me GT5 will be released December 10th.
(of course, he didn't tell me what year tho?)
