Found deep in the caverns of the interweb... :D

I don't understand why many people want damage!when i drive in gt I don't try everytime to crash my auto for that we have Burnout! ther're many future more important in gt than damage like weather cicle day/night and PD lost so much time just to realise that damn damage!without damage I think that we are playing GT5 right now!!(sorry for my bad english)

Agreed 100% And it was not lost in translation. Amen.

@ evilneal. Yes there were no lambo's, GM cars were missing and certain BMWs were lacking in the guide. The publishers of the guide are in no way conected to turn 10. So I would assume it would follow that PD would have no responsibility for the guide and some cars may miss out.

Edit. Funny thing is Porsche are in it. Figure that out

Prima published the Forza 3 guide and Piggyback Interactive published the GT3 and GT4 guides, hopefully the GT5 guide will be complete although I'd probably still get it even if it had a few omissions. Surely they wouldn't leave out Lamborghini!

As far as I'm concerned, if GT5 does not release soon, it is and remains in good company:

Atlantis
Beowulf
Cenodoxus, or the Damnation of the Good Doctor of Paris, told as an event justifying the sanctification of St. Bruno
Celtic Legends
El Dorado
Fountain of Youth
King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table
Legends of Africa
Odysseus
Philosopher's stone
Ramayana Legend of Rama the prince of Ayodhya
Robin Hood
Romani legends and Romulus and Remus
Shangri-La
Vlad the Impaler; stories of his cruelty have attained legendary status, most likely spread after his death by his enemies.
William Tell

No matter how you feel about it, we are not playing it, and likely will not for a while yet.

Perhaps I am daft (likely) but I fail to make the connection? The posted list is either legend, myth, or historical accounts from various authors and historians. I am not all that well educated so would you mind connecting the dots for us "simple folk"? Gracias.

We probably would be playing GT5 right now if it weren't for the damage modeling, but too little too late... everybody asked for it so now we must wait for it.

I hope this at least stops the punting. After all... bumper car physics isn't exactly going to fly in 2010.

True dat, and it would be nice to see some over aggressive drivers have a reason not to perform the "pit manuver".

Yes we have a game for crashes, one for skidmarks, one for reverse lights, one for good sound, one for good physics, one good graphics, sum them up and you get the "real driving experience". Pardon me but it's not GT. Just call it the game with best graphics, and it'll be over.

As for the crashes, for me it would be enough if cars are reacting to each other and spin their rear end on touch like they do in reality and not acting like 30 ton bricks always bouncing off the wall and drive after touch as if there never been one. But they have decided to make visual damage in the game so it has better look real now. They have inspiration in many games which got it many years before so I would be surprised for them to make worse damage system than competition.

Showing old builds is another topic. Honestly, I don't understand Sony's and PD's presentation of GT, I can only say that it looks very amateurish for such a big franchise to me with all contradictory declarations and all those "old builds" which is term I started to be alergic about.

... or call it.. The Real game that no-body will ever be happy with and always find something to complain about because that is what keeps them happy Driving Simulator.

There's a good one ;)

How do you expect us to be happy with a game that lacks features other games have had for a decade?

Who's "us"? And what "features"? Nobody on this forum Knows what "features" are in the final version of GT5......Do you have some inside info your not shareing or do you often try and start "debate" with no facts to back up your "opinion"

I usualy ignore posts like this but come on your making very vauge statements which have only one motive behind them, dare I say verging on trollisim? 👎

GT5 has acquired this magic image that it's going to be totally different than the builds we've seen and everything is going to be a ok. The truth is it's not going to be much different and you know it. The game had to be released in a month. It got delayed by SONY (clearly KY was unaware of any problems unsolved or much work still left to do the day before the delay was announced). This means the game is already done and the last month is used for shipping, setting up servers and promotion. They are hiding many features, but many of the ones they've shown pretty much suck. KY even told us to forget about features like skidmarks.
Face it, GT5 will be a great game, but it will not have good sounds, good smoke, skidmarks, good A.I., good scenery or real damage on 82% of the cars.
Through the years PD have eagerly shown the things they have done very well. The ones they are trying to hide are the ones they are not so sure about.

Errrr.....that would be KY, wouldn't it?
Indeed lol !
I was asking for a quote in fact, as the quote I have in mind is "Skidmarks should be of no concerns". Which could either mean that we shouldn't bother about skidmarks as it is only a detail or that we don't have to worry as skidmarks are planned for the release.

Skidmarks will not be in,
Kaz was pretty clear about that...
Guess the motortrend interview, but I'm not sure.
So.. your first explanation counts!

Ok, the exact quote is "Skidmarks should be of no concern". I'm still unsure what it means... Both explanations seem to fit in that quote...

yes, but the way he's telling it..
I bet 90% of us take it as a no...
including me.

The truth is...

... unknown, and anyone posting speculation as fact will be dealt with by the moderating staff.

That's true, I don't say it's impossible,
but I hate the discussions always are about the same things...
I'm just tired about skidmarks and track counts!

I THINK Kazunori didnt plan about day night cycles and weather changes at the beginning of GT5 project. Kazunor said we have weather system is done but we didnt decied yet to implement game 2 months ago.IT shows at least they didint plan dynamic weather and day night .When they showed first damage gameplay video. the people didnt like it so much..This situation make Kazu sick and then. he and his team wanted to struggle better damage to implement the game. PD didnt hope there is a lot people interested in Damage too much..GT has never damage system until now..Absent of damage didnt affect the sales of GT series.BUT now Kazunori saw bad reactions from people about damage. He was shocked and returned the work more on it.Damage is really Cuz of delay and Kazu s ambitious.

Please Gran Turismo 5.. hurry up and release yourself.. be free.. be free!!

If damage is the reason for the delay, why do they still create new cars for the game?

Oh, I see the authorities got involved. Go ahead and ban me for saying what I believe is true. How come when I say it's going to be one way it's speculation, but when someone responds that I'm wrong and it's going to be the other way it's not?

Well you made it sound like it's a fact, so Famine has a point... On the other hand I don't get why it's ok to say things like damage was the reason for the delay?

BTW I don't get either why most seem to think damage will be included in online racing, I mean I really hope it will, but logic says otherwise. :ouch:

At least collision physics seems improved judging by TT demo.
It's cool PD takes all the time they want, but then they should get the basics right finally.
I read an interview with KY after GT1(!) release and he said he wants realistic damage (and skidmarks and basically everything interviewer was asking for...) for next game, you know how that ended, right?

I'm pretty sure I said "anyone" and didn't say "ban"?

*looks again*

No, it rather looks like I'm right there.

Say what you believe is true. Say it as much as you like and as often as you desire. Don't pretend that, because you believe it, it is "the truth". Unless you have a secret, unfettered line directly to PD, what you believe has no bearing on "the truth".

Not a complicated concept, surely?

This is just a thought and in no way am I stating it as a fact. March looks like it's going to be quite a busy month for Sony in Japan. In addition to releasing GOW3, they are also going to start sales of Torne - a device which effectively turns your PS3 into a HDD recorder capable of recording digital TV broadcasts. There will also be a 250gb PS3 package intended for people who might be tempted to buy a PS3 for the Torne peripheral. Maybe Sony thinks it would be too much to release GT5 at the same time.

Don't they already have that in the shape of Play TV?
