I'd like to wait to see the track/car lists on the official GT websites because, as it is now this is a very disappointing list and reinforces all my statements made here yesterday.
People who are happy with it I'm glad for you but you have to learn to be tolerant towards other peoples disappointment. And I like to consider myself as a fairly balanced guy and I think that anyone who want to analyse what we now at the moment about the game cannot be happy with it. And specialy those who call themselves "die hard fans", which is different of fanboys.
The spirit of GT has been since the beginning the the praise for car culture. No matter if we are talking about rallying, gt's, tuning, oval racing, so on... as long as it have an engine, 4 wheels and a motor, that was the point. And WAS seems to be key here...
Up to GT4, including, the encyclopedia of cars (as some like to refer to the game, when convenient...) had two major gaps: the absences of Ferrari and Porsche, maybe the two most iconic auto manufacturers in the automobile history.
With GT HD we had the happiness of getting the inclusion of one of them - Ferrari - and thus the expectation towards the first full game with the brand (GT5P was a DEMO, as also some also when convenient like to refer - specially in comparing the series with its major competitor...). After seeing the (supposedly) official car list and having in mind the "self-proclaimed" status of "car encyclopedia" / "more than a game" and, as told by the developers, "expecting perfection" one can only feel... sad.
I'm sorry but to not include cars as the 250GTO, the 250TR, or from more generic brands (so we don't get complaints about the excessive number of Ferraris... ) as the Ford Cortina Lotus, for example is not, at least to me, understandable...
As I've stated today this game, independently of the ground breaking features it has, does give the impression it has been rushed. It is like they spent 90% of the time producing those groundbreaking features and implementing them, creating breath-taking visuals, but spending so much time with it that near the end is like someone (Sony?) said to them: "Ok, that very nice but how many cars it'll have? At least 1000 for sure!?"
Someone said before (replying about the absence of the Jay Leno's Tank Car) that "this isn't GT4 2010 edition. It's GT5". I'm sorry but this IS GT4 HD 2010 edition with special features in it...
I tend to (or, naively want to) share Famine's (apparent) opinion that the track list may not be correct. I mean, the absence of tracks as Infineon, Motegi, and others is unbelievable. Specially those two considering the Nascar and Super GT association with the game.
I have the game pre-order (CE) and I will get it on the 24th and play the hell out of it. But honestly this isn't the game that was expected. And sure it isn't the game we have been hinted through the years we would get.
