That's because it would become a different version, it would go from 1.0 to 1.1 or 1.01, or whatever it is patched to.

I don't buy the release day patch theory either. RDK got to the end of the game after level 17, and can't access a bunch of features. It doesn't make sense that you would need a release day patch to proceed past that point. Plus the message states "this version". That would mean it became a different version after the patch.

I believe it was uncharted 2 that encountered problems once you progressed to a certain point causing the game to freeze and not move along any further. As far as what the message said when a patch is released or an update doesn't the games save file update and say version 1.04 or whatever. I not near my Ps3 so I can't tell you for sure but I'm pretty sure.

I believe it was uncharted 2 that encountered problems once you progressed to a certain point causing the game to freeze and not move along any further. As far as what the message said when a patch is released or an update doesn't the games save file update and say version 1.04 or whatever. I not near my Ps3 so I can't tell you for sure but I'm pretty sure.

If the game is so broken that a release day patch is necessary for the game to even just be playable, we would have seen another delay and not a release day patch. There is absolutely no way that there will be a day-0 patch for something that major; all of the people who don't or aren't able to connect their PS3's to the internet would be screwed over and Sony would be in deep water. While a day-0 patch is acceptable for minor bugs and faults, I guarantee that there will be none for such a large fault. Guarantee.

I do believe that there will be a release date update. I don't think the game will be as some say. . . broken. I don't think what we've seen so far is a completed game. I think what we get might be more open than what we've been shown. However I wouldn't be surprised if certain features like standard car rims we're made more open if they aren't on release via update. I don't think those who don't go online will get a broken game. But much like every other game they will be missing out most likely, on quite a few things. Specially if there turns out to be some extra cars and tracks presented in an update that couldn't fit on the disc.

People without internet must also be stuck with old PS3 firmware. Hey, they bought it knowing how much of a role an internet connection would be. Yes, its not the best of situations, but...

Ok but you are assuming the game is broken. You are not taking into consideration that the reason he this message is because it is for an online mode. Also the argument that he sees the end credits at level 17, didn't GT5P end before you did all the races?

what if the feature they tried to access is an online only feature.... and to get online you have to have the patch... if you don't have the patch you can't use the feature.... that seems perfectly reasonable if the feature is an online only feature.

Yep. That is the strongest evidence that it's a release copy. But it's not too hard to imagine the packaging being copied or stolen.

Look, if this is the game I'm playing next Thursday, I'll be stoked. It looks great.

But there is real substantial evidence that its not. I've decided to abandon caution and place my bet, because lets face it what I really want to be doing is playing the goddam game, and having these insane conversations with other people who are feeling the same way is a lot of fun.

And I reckon it's a preview.

Yeah but... that wasn't intentional.

As for the "version" thing... that most definitely exists as an error message in retail copies of games, and I'll give you an example right now: Rock Band 3. If you try to play the DLC track "Afterlife" by Avenged Sevenfold the game refuses to load the track (due to an unintentional glitch) and informs you that the song is not compatible with your copy of Rock Band 3 and suggests you upgrade (which you cannot do as there is no newer version).

I suspect the reason the message exists is because at some point in the game's future, there may be an update that affects the track files and requires the latest version, but equally that it may not happen, but the message is inserted into the game as a precaution.

I'm taking the long route with this answer, but yeah... games will say stuff like that when the content isn't available yet. Because the online content literally isn't on the server (or the server isn't online) the game incorrectly assumes the only possibility is that the server has been updated beyond that version of the game.

As for whether or not the leaked versions are the full game or not... I dunno!

No, when you earn A class license only. Then you earn S class but not necessary all races.

No, they tested it with an online feature and he got the same message, but he first noticed it trying to access 'museum'. I don't actually know what that means, but it was implied that this was offline.

Oh btw guys, we've had dev teams in the past confirm that Sony's terms & conditions forbid locking core functionality of the offline portion of games because not everyone has internet access. Online sure, since you... need to be online to use online stuff anyway.

If it was s huge update on day 1 alot of people would not be able to update because of not having a broadband connection. Who knows whats going on I don't really care anymore until next Wednesday.

Or it could be that the museum feature is in fact online or require a release day patch. I just feel that people are reaching a bit with this not the full game stuff. I could in fact be very wrong but I feel after all the debate we just had, their isn't any real evidence or reason for PD to release a game that looks like the real game, but isn't.

Just read it man NOT IN THIS VERSION. the same message i got in the GT5 demo when I tried to go to career mode, it must be a different version for the final game. From watching all those videos and not seeing a pro/standard physics selection, and people say the skid recovery and the car settings are the new way to adjust the physics make me laugh. In the demos of GT5 they had the same skid pad recovery etc settings and still allowed the player choose standard or pro physics.. Mechanical damage is lacking in every video no scratches dirt accumulation, IMO this is not the final version of GT5. Stay tuned.

main issue though is I believe the only way to use the PS3 online is with a broadband connection.

It could be the theory that, these are copies given out by sony, to sony employees, deliberately. But their copies are still locked for a certain feature or point in the game. This, In order to let people know the game was actually finished, and that there is no legitimate reason for delay again.

They would take down the first couple of videos to make it seem real and exciting.
