It might be technically accurate to refer to versions that way, but the in-game messages are addressed to a lay audience, and I think the distinction you are making would clearly be lost on most general users. Surely the message would be "You need to download an update to continue", or something.

There must be something fishy with these versions, if they cannot access features because of not being online they would get a message saying something about not being connected.
If it was s huge update on day 1 alot of people would not be able to update because of not having a broadband connection. Who knows whats going on I don't really care anymore until next Wednesday.

Its the biggest stretch you need to put the whole thing together, and it's not that big of a stretch...

It could be the theory that, these are copies given out by sony, to sony employees, deliberately. But their copies are still locked for a certain feature or point in the game. This, In order to let people know the game was actually finished, and that there is no legitimate reason for delay again.

They would take down the first couple of videos to make it seem real and exciting.

a sort viral marketing? with an incomplete game, lacking a lot of features? Wouldn't it work better with the final polished, perfect version? Ok kaz is completely mad, but not so much I hope :D

No one quite understands it, and there just seems to be no end to unbelievable plot twists, but when its all over it all makes sense. (not quite :P )

Or it could be that the museum feature is in fact online or require a release day patch. I just feel that people are reaching a bit with this not the full game stuff. I could in fact be very wrong but I feel after all the debate we just had, their isn't any real evidence or reason for PD to release a game that looks like the real game, but isn't.

So, im guessing, not all tracks will be availble at the start...as weve seen in those recent videos

almost every new racing game doesent reveal every track right away, correct?

True... to an extent.

One problem though.

PD have already announced the official and final track list on their website, which has been verified by the vids we've all seen, and the numbers match what Kaz has been saying all along.

Therefore, the chances of any other tracks beyond what we've already been told about it pretty much zero.

I don´t know if i enjoy more the gameplay (me of course) or seeing the replays...i have a Full HD 46" and the GT5 Prologue is incredible...just waiting for my signature and laughing a lot seeing comments here...:dopey:

Thanks for the time stamps on the video I really can't explain maybe you guys are right, or maybe their are features that didn't meet Kaz's standards so he omitted them. It could really go either way. For the record I hope you guys are right but I try to look at things from both sides.

At first this board was real sour after the first delay. People were being mean for no reason, people posted spam all day, made you not even want to come here. Now it actually is quite an enjoyable experience. I could see this community having a ton of fun on line with each other.

I hear ya, thats a good way to look at it

but im just thinking about it in this way, I trust the gran turismo team because ive loved gran turismo since I first played it....so whatever they send out is going to be spectacular no doubt

I just want to take pictures in game and zoom into rims and lights haha

I've tried to stay really level headed about this. I mean, I'm a married man with young kids, and this is a video game.

But I'm giving up. It's just got way too mental. I've put on my ceremonial tin foil hat and I'm jumping in with the crazies. :crazy:

I know ive said this alot today, but I work in a video game store, have for the past 5 years, and this is the ONLY game I would go on a message board for

I dunno, I just have feelings for Gran Turismo
 
It's funny, I play a ton of different games across all genres but this is the only message board I frequent that has to do with one single game. GT really is something special!
 
Hey guys, I'm getting off of work and just now catching up, but is it possible this (RDK/Tekken) is the build from the NYC/Times Square Event? That was the one they were hiding, and it is where we first saw tabs on the track selection screen, and where we discovered Cape Ring.

Still haven't caught up on all of the facts, but I just wanted to throw that out there.

Because of the risk of getting too much information leaked, things they may not have wanted leaked.
I am one who believes there are more tracks then what we saw in the track list leak, and maybe, just maybe a couple extra cars in the car list.
Along with the lack of confirmed and witnessed features (Scratches, level of damage, etc.) (Through demos, vids, etc) along with that message saying "This feature is not available in this version".. Ultimately it seems that these copies are either locked, or aren't the real full copies.

I could be very, very wrong though.

These copies are polished, with the features that are inside. For example, the copy doesn't have to be un-polished if it doesn't have scratches in it, it just doesn't have scratches. Plus, for example, wouldn't it be more of a surprise to come home on the 24th and find that the damage is even better than what you saw in these gameplay vids, etc.

:trouble: First delay?! Prologue came out in '08! We've been waiting since '09 with Kaz's "sooner than expected" line. Still everyone feels better knowing it will be in our hands soon. :)

Its not the NYC/Times Square build. Although all the tracks were there, as I stated seeing Cape Ring and SSR7 in the list when I played it, the amount of cars and options shown in Tekken's build were locked then.

I agree, Ive been saying that there is no way Kaz and the gran turismo team would reveal everything, all tracks and cars to us, especially since he explicitly said he wanted to surprise fans
 
The dirt could be limited only to the rally mode. Only one car (eventually 2 perhaps) in the track could free some resources for dirt, scratches, more dust and that kind of stuff.

And interestingly, it was the only one with Cape Ring on it. Maybe this is an evolved version of that build, which works like the retail version, but is limited on its functions.
