Anyone think the loading times are a bit long when menu surfing?

Menu load times are HUGELY decreased if you sign out of PSN, for some reason.

Hopefully this is just a temporary problem, while servers are overloaded.

Does anyone else have the problem where it gets stuck at the loading screen for the Snow Challenge Rally? It's happened twice already.

The game isn't frozen, the music keeps playing, but its just stuck at the loading screen with a full progress bar. Weird bug

Right now I'm waiting for more than 13 reviews to come in before I buy this game. I want to be sure this game is worth my money, seeing as I don't buy games very often.

I have a general rule; if a game can't get near a 90 metascore, then I have to really like the game's concept to buy it. Otherwise I give it a pass, because I have VERY limited game funds, so I HAVE to be picky.

Not to mention Xmas coming, so I have to be very frugal with my money. If GT5 only turns out average, I'll give it a pass.

So your point is you are a very cautious consumer. Thank you for sharing that, it really is fascinating to hear how careful people are before they make non-essential purchases, and I hope it works out well for you and your limited funds are allocated in the best possible way. Have a fantastic day.

So have people tried online racing. I didn't get to it today, and I havn't seen any videos on youtube.

I've tried online, I don't know what these people were doing. I was driving the '07 GTR, beat one guy driving a Maserati Granturismo by 30 seconds, another guy was driving backwards (?).

Welcome to online gaming.

Some quick impressions on certain cars:

NASCAR: I have to say after years of playing EA's game, GT5 by far blows them all out of the water. The physics actually feel like I'm actually driving a heavy, low tech race car and around daytona, they are not easy to keep straight and you can feel the bumps alot more with these cars. Sound its excellent too, though the gearwhine has made an unwelcome return. Most fun I've had 👍

WRC: Again, just amazing. This was the only problem I had with Rally in GT4 was how stiff it was and how I couldn't fling it around like I wanted too, something I enjoyed doing with Dirt 2. The WRC game was terrible as it didn't even feel like the car was on the ground, but more like it was just floating. On GT5 however, all I needed to do was turn off the assists and man, I felt like a Rallying god going sideways and powersliding. This is the most fun I've had with rally cars since Dirt 2. Once I figure out how to make point-to-point tracks, then it'll really take off for me. Sound is excellent too, the Gearwhine on the cars seems distinct depending on which car you drive. Awesome in my book 👍

Now the only problem I've run into so far is importing my gamesave from my PSP. I try to do it and it just sits there for long reading "waiting for connection". If anyone can help me on this, I'd appreciate it.

I am looking around the forums but can't find any info on the online options etc. Still waiting on my delivery of GT5 via Play.com Girlfriend insisted on buying it for me, if it don't come tmrw I am off to the shops to buy it!!

Just to comment on the online portion of the game, it's better in some ways and worse in others.

For starters, there's not credit reward for winning, or even playing for that matter.
Secondly, people who are useless enough to drive backwards don't become transparent like in Prologue. (Trust me, I've had many head ons).

However, the car dynamics are thankfully not like Prologue. The cars move gracefully around like in single player, unlike Prologues online where everyone jolted everywhere.

didn't anyone else see pixels on the edge of the cars when there's smoke, or rain around the car? :// really bothering and unrealistic.

One thing I dislike about the game is how long it takes to build up your credits/money.
Back on GTPSP, racing a Buggatti Veyron on the driving park(13 miles oval track) would earn you over $110K every two laps, a really fast way to build up your credits to buy all the cars you ever wanted or needed. But here in GT5 it takes forever. Not even the licences earn you credit after obtaining them, or racing online(by far my favorite mode). And leveling up is no easy thing either, takes for ever.. I guess I'll have to wait till my level is up to 11 or so so I can race in Daytona and make a lousy $17k every 3 laps :(

You've gotta earn your rewards dude. If you want cheats, go play another game.

hey, when you get to the part were it says awaiting connection go into the options menu on GTPSP and in another menu youll see transfare garage and thats it... only thing is youll have to pick the 50 cars you want to use... my tip is take a note of what GT5 already has in arcade mode and leave them in the psp garage (example the Nissan GTR) pointless having two and it taking up a place on the portable garage

Ok, that explains alot. Pretty fine for me since I only have 25 cars

Well, I'd kinda like to race cars that are not in the arcade mode, which is what my garage consists of basically. If you're suggestin that I make sure to only transfer what isn't already there, then I understand.

Anyone knows how to change thread name?

Really? Im playing GT4 at the moment, and i find it so easy to change directions with a swing of the wheel (in WRC rally cars) and a dab of throttle, most of the complaints i heard was that the GT4 gravel physics made the car way too "slippy"(no grip) but also too maniable.

Be warned: For some reason, it REALLY doesn't like Suzuka East Short. Frozen on me twice there.

Without going into too much detail and to keep it short:

I waited this long for this game...so much for getting my hopes up. It'll be a fun thing to play once in a while but not something I wanna get myself hooked to. Looks like I'll stick to Fallout moreso still, it still keeps my attention. Maybe I've just grown out of racing games and not as enthusiastic about them like I once was. It's just more of the same that I've played in all my racing games for years. Oh well, I'll take my frustrations in this game in super small doses...I don't take well to these types of frustrating games. Maybe I'm not just good enough to really enjoy this kind of hardcore masochism. It may just be though I don't have the time I once had to devote to such a thing you all enjoy so much.

Maybe if they ever find a way to download other peoples gamesaves and unlock everything that'll be fun to play around with -lol- (I don't give a crap about trophies...they mean nothing)

So you've been served a game that doesn't let you walk through it in a couple of hours, but instead challenges you and requires you effort for extended period of time. And you're complaining about this?!?

This is what's wrong with the world today. People don't enjoy challenge anymore. Everything should be achieved with minimal effort and as soon as possible :indiff:

I haven't gone online yet, is the removal of the PP points from Prologue a good thing or bad (for online)? And we don't earn credits for winning online? :/

Wait, so are we given a car for every online race, or do we win cars?

2-so i have small damaged but when i went to fix it it cost 500,000CR why in the name of god !!

this is a real bad feature in GT5 to fix cars i have to race for ever !!

my challenger cost 27000CR, 350z 17000CR, Bugatti Veyron 500,000CR !!

please GT5 fix this make it like tuning car fixed amount to fix a car maybe 5000CR some thing reasonable

You do realize that Veyron is quite expensive car. Can't expect to fix it with a couple of k$ that is enough for your crappy old 80's Toyota Corolla.

Personally I think that it's a marvelous idea that cars need to be fixed and it actually costs money in the game. This way, maybe people will be a bit more careful on how they drive. After all you do not go ramming around the road bumping to other drivers in a real world. And GT5 is supposed to be a sim after all :sly:

That was easy.

People grow up and sometimes grow out of what they once enjoyed and simply do not have the time or desire to really enjoy what they once did is what I'm saying. GT5 looks and feels amazing...but feels more of the same. It just didn't awe me like GT3 and partially GT4 did.

I am now a man of short patience and time and want simple quick fun enjoyable game.

I must be in the wrong place now it seems.

Of course you are. What on Earth were you expecting? There are tons of games that do what you want, the new Need for Speed should do nicely. I mean really, why bother posting this.
