I just finished playing GT after about 8 straght hrs. There's just so much to do. I already unlocked the pro events and I'm about level 11 I think. I'm in love with this game.

Of course you are. What on Earth were you expecting? There are tons of games that do what you want, the new Need for Speed should do nicely. I mean really, why bother posting this.

Well sorry but it just feels like a letdown to me after waiting this long for this is most of what I'm saying. I still say it's a great game...maybe just not a great game for me and what I'm looking for.

I think after waiting this long and this much hype is more of why it feels like a letdown to me. Maybe I was expecting too much.

I think there is hardly anything to do.

Not a lot of events.

I was supposed to be in bed for work at 6:30 AM but...I think I'll just stay up instead. :dopey:

Good day everyone ;)

I want know, if someone can hep me, if the GT5 driving & damage Physics, goes updating to hardest level when you are going up in the different levels or races or is the same when you start and finish it?

This game was amazing ...

General & tyre physics are impresive .... Yeahh!

Just did a couple laps on High speed ring in the rain w '07 mustang. OMG the driving physics w the G25! Prologue was a deep game but NOW!!!!!! And in my man cave with the surround speakers is the frickin ****e! Enjoy! It has just begun.

One thing I dislike about the game is how long it takes to build up your credits/money.
Back on GTPSP, racing a Buggatti Veyron on the driving park(13 miles oval track) would earn you over $110K every two laps, a really fast way to build up your credits to buy all the cars you ever wanted or needed. But here in GT5 it takes forever. Not even the licences earn you credit after obtaining them, or racing online(by far my favorite mode). And leveling up is no easy thing either, takes for ever.. I guess I'll have to wait till my level is up to 11 or so so I can race in Daytona and make a lousy $17k every 3 laps :(

well GT series are not made to be played for a couple of weeks. I don't want it to be easy and fast because i have plans to play it for years (until GT6 is out) :) so rushing the thing seems a bit odd to me, just enjoy every car you buy, tweak the engines, chassis etc. patience my friend and you will get the reward in the end ;)

There is no way to take off the HUD in GT5. Can someone with 100 post privilege start a new thread about the topic of GT5 not having an option to take off the HUD from the display. So this subject can get some recognition and hopefully Polyphony will release an update to enable us to toggle the HUD.
I have a 42" 3D tv and i hate seeing all those stupid numbers and the useless A.I. on the screen while I'm driving.

Thank You

Anyone who knows when that SLS-competition starts? The code doesnt work

my friend, everything is based on ideas, there is no such thing as growing out of something it just has to do with YOU making yourself grow out of this. You don't have to play a game or do something you like for 24 hours straight to be a true fan, I don't have the time I had before my marriage or before I got a job 10 years ago but i still have my moments whenever I get a chance and not planning to change that. I guess you are just having a bad day, well everybody does, this is how life makes the good days happen too :) cheers and smile

Really? Im playing GT4 at the moment, and i find it so easy to change directions with a swing of the wheel (in WRC rally cars) and a dab of throttle, most of the complaints i heard was that the GT4 gravel physics made the car way too "slippy"(no grip) but also too maniable.

It felt stiff to me. It took alot more to actually get the car sideways and even at that point, I hit something or spun.

I'm going to have to agree with XEPEGTP on this one...

There was nothing "stiff" about the rallying in GT4... Example:

Very easy to get the car sideways, and also quite simple to change directions fairly quickly, as well. Not as ice-rink slippery as GT3, but still very easy to control. I would go so far as to say, a lot of the inherent physics flaws in GT4 (unrelenting understeer being the biggest offender, but unnatural tire traction coefficients didn't help either) are less apparent in the rally modes, probably due to the loose surface.

;)

It sounds like you were expecting too little. Maybe ease up on the coldplay. It's clouding your judgement and making you sad.

Feel free to keep engaging me in discussion though. I'm only eight posts off being able to start threads, and there are many topics that I want, nay, must start. In particular there need to be some new threads about rims on standards, where is Porsche?, and of course why can't we turn off the HUD, for that dude who just asked for it.

No...

For the love of all that's holy, use the SEARCH function before starting any threads. 9 times out of 10 there is either already a similar thread, or another existing thread where the information could be posted/obtained...

Posting a bunch of threads about topics such as "Rims on Standard Cars" which has been discussed at length in multiple different threads (hence, no need for a new one) is not advised...

Heh heh heh. Suffice to say, I was being sarcastic. Really, really, really sarcastic....

New statement about online

http://us.gran-turismo.com/us/news/d5493.html

Currently the online services of Gran Turismo 5 (GT5) is experiencing some extreme online traffic congestion.

Because GT5 performs online access not only when participating in online races and using community features, but also when starting the game and during the various screen displays in GT Mode, unfortunately this online congestion is also affecting standard gameplay.

If you are experiencing the following symptoms, we recommend that you temporarily play GT5 without connecting the PlayStation 3 (PS3) to the network.

(A) If you are finding it takes several minutes before being able to perform any actions in the following screens:

- Before the start of the opening movie, immediately after launching the game
- At the top screen after the game has started
- In various screens within GT Mode

(B) Or, when it takes several minutes or more to gain a result when the following operations are performed:

- When entering the open lobby, if it takes several minutes or more before the room list is acquired and displayed.
- When clicking on an ID in the participant list of a room, if it takes several minutes or more before the menu appears.
- When writing on the message boards within "Community", if it is taking several minutes or more for your posts to appear.

* Also, some of the following features have been limited intentionally as a measure to temporarily alleviate some of the network traffic. Due to these limitations, you will find that:
- The viewing and update of the [Log] in the Community section of GT Mode has been temporarily disabled.
- Changes to the Profile may not update in some cases.
- Changes to the Friend List may not update in some cases.

Currently we are simultaneously working on several different solutions to improve the network status and alleviate the network congestion as soon as possible. We are expecting to be able to provide a proper online service again soon.

We sincerely apologize to our customers for the inconvenience

Latest news and discussion!! Well just take a couple laps on la Sarthe with a lil miata with the weather and time change. When it gets dark..... this is what we have ALL been waiting for. I'm overwhelmed with the many month experience this game is going to be. Haven't unlocked the norchlife yet, but there will be another thing to do. The G25 is seamless with the clutch, no triangle button, (though I can use triangle button for my broken H shifter reverse). Happy dude here!

Anybody knows what those display settings do? Does switching from normal to sharper changes anything, especially those awful shadows, textures, jagged car edges in smoke/rain?

I simply cannot believe that Kaz would release the game in this state.

Thats why I say it felt "Stiff". I couldn't break traction as easily as I could on GT3. I could pull off some nice powerslides and everythng on their with ease, I couldn' Now that remember though, I don't think I touched the settings either on a rally race thinking I might make things worse so maybe that. Again, It felt that way to me.

yes I want to know too! I hate those jagged shadows!

No, it does not correct the shadows. I do not see a difference between the normal and sharp setting. However, I did notice some flicker when things are still. So, I have enabled flicker reduction (I'm using HDMI cables BTW) and it has worked.

I absolutely LOVE this game so far, but I have to say, "I agree."

The shadows and weird "jaggy" texture when cars are seen being hit by wind/dirt/moisture are the only thing holding me back from giving this game a 10/10. But a 9/10 will have to do I suppose! :sly:

By the way kart racing is just too damn fun, isn't it??

This game is fan-bloody-tastic. It's everything I hoped it would be. I'm only at level 7 and already I want to kiss Yamauchi's shoes. Handling is perfect.

One thing though... I hate that the classic GT prize car presentation complete with drum roll is missing.

PS3 set up, updated and patch 1.01 now downloading!

Just got to install it and I can finally play!!

I'm EXCITED!!!

Just received GT5! I hope this is not too addictive!

License A-8 is starting to 🤬 me off, every car i drive in these test just keeps understeering.

LOL that's hilarious. I know what you mean.

It takes a few dozen races, but eventually it hits you. The driving physics in this game absolutely dominate anything I've ever played in my life.

It so is! :yuck:

Damn! I might have to limit my time on this thing :scared:
What's the best car to start off with in your opinion- Civic Type-R?
