Yea there is a blue thing so this is high beams then?? HHMMMMMM
Was sure that the Lambo didn't have candles :D
The night effects are grand in the city or with street lights.
The headlight effects are not up to the job though. Don't think there is any games which is really, hence why most never do really dark nights.
Hard thing to simulate. The lights are just lighting the road and not the periphery and they don't even light the road far enough.

Have you driven on an unlit road? It's not very easy to the eyes in real life either. I haven't seen the race you are talking about in the game so I can't judge yet. Maybe you are onto somethign.

Anyone know how many copies have been sold to date? Or on the first day.

Ha, I live in rural Ireland so it's all unlit roads. Around where I live is rally stage roads. They actually run Major rally events around here. I have driven both cars and bikes at night on these roads (at speed :) )and my lights are better than this.
Have never had issues seeing where i'm goin irl.
It's just how it's implimented in games that doesn't work.
You need volumetric lighting to have realistic night lighting from headlights.
Something like crytek engine could do this, problem is the PS3 couldn't handle it at all.
These effects can even bring high end gaming rigs to their knees.
Hence why racing games never have truely dark nights, otherwise you couldn't see where you are going, just like this event in GT.

okay so now I know there is tire wear but how does it work ingame?

lets hope copy protected saves are gone.... maybe this update has the copy protection removed ?....I'll check after my update is done

Something just rather bugged me about the whole A spec business. It seems so barebones - where are the classic match ups like the Subaru vs Mitsubishi or the Skylines vs the Supras, or the other classic match ups etc? Only have 9 events per class (beginner, amature etc) is VERY bare with no substance. I haven't played much of GT4 but GT3 had LOTS, so much I never gone through it.

And where are the specialty NASCAR (hey man its actually not bad, quite fun going 200 MPH everywhere) and the WRC besides the Jeff Gordon and Sebastien Loeb challenge events? Its more unlocked business?

At any rate A spec just looks .... not very well put together - sure it may be more recycled events from prior GTs but re-racing the classics in HD would just be spendid. I know you can migrate online but I don't think MP racing is fun, at least what I experienced from Prologue.

Lucky, I'm currently level 10 and only have at least 30,000 cr. :(

Do the special event challenges. They are more fun than early A spec stuff and pay LOTS of cash and driver XP (especially the NASCAR stuff).

I take it you have been busy buying cars?
Im level 15 also and have around 700K. Just bought the Dodge Viper race car, and am about to buy the 458 Italia.

This is an awesome game. Loving every second of it

Well there is a trophy for spending every credit you have. This is harder than it may sound. I have been trying for some time myself but I can only get as low as 300 something bucks.

Try to get your holding cash divisible by 50 or 250 and keep doing car wash/oil changes. Naturally just buy an expensive car, obviously don't waste like $100,000 just on car washes when you can get a few nice econo cars.

I have to agree. Controlling the Lambo and fighting against the terrain with visibility issue is tough. I barely got 5th place. I can't see anything until the last minute and by that time, I have wrecked. Granted that I hate rally and that I am not a great GT racer, this particular race is impossible to gold for me.

Well. I was going to post my own thread but it seems I can no longer do that, but here goes.

I am here to inform everyone that I have just completed all license test B-S with all Gold Trophies! This is the first time for me in the GT series and it didn't take me long. Just a lot of determination. :) Heck I haven't even played a single normal race or used my first car in anyway. Heck I haven't even clicked on the delivery truck icon to get my prize cars from The license tests since i start the game on the 24th.

Too bad you're forced to buy a car at the start because i was going to try to play the game without spending a single cent on anything in the game. lol

Anyone else?

I assumed the LF-A would be able to turn :(

You mean it feels heavy, or that it doesn't turn in sharply? Are you able to drift with it like Clarkson in TG?

The LFA is really heavy. Acutally heavier than the GTR and not a lot of fun on tide courses. But in they straight it is amazing.

It was actually Hammond that drove the LF-A. Jeremy did the quite funny review of the BMW X6 in that episode.

:)

It does feels heavy. Terrible understeer. I imagined this thing would be a beast in the corners like any other high-tech Japanese supercar, but I was struggling to pass an Impreza on Tsukuba in the Japanese Championship.

Don't waste your 380k credits.

Are wings available for the LFA? I have only had a quick drive in one but if felt like it had no front end downforce.

:)

You are so right! But what about the sound? Is it as much thrilling as in real life?

How the hell do I get a truck for the truck race in the Amateur tier of A-Spec? There are NONE in the dealership and I haven't seen any rotated into the Used Cars.

Unlocked the 'Extreme Events'. No endurance races

Must say I'm disappointed with the night time and weather effects. Tried Toscana in arcade mode at night, and the only thing high beams does is light up a slightly further patch of road directly in front of you, highlights some more of the road signs in the distance, but does nothing else, you see absolutely nothing more from the headlights, the road barely 10 meters in front of you is still not visible. I don't drive but I've been a passenger on a car through pitch black country roads, and even dipped beams light up the road better, full beams lights things up fine for a good few hundred meters. Basically it's flawed, and I hate criticising the game but when it's expecting you to drive quickly when you can't see, when you should be perfectly able to, then it's just not right. Sorry.

None. I was a bit disappointed.

While we're talking about body customization... Nero Black Gallardo with Reventon-like front mod, type A spoiler and carbon bonnet = pure sex  gonna take some photos.

Finish the International A license I think. I got a truck from some license but cant remember which one it was

I am just as stubborn as you. Did the same thing and made a sad face when the game decided to tell me that I MUST buy a car first.

I used the Dodge Laramie (sp) that I won.
Sorry, but I don't remember where I won it.

EDIT:IA license all bronze = Dodge Ram

Found here.

Sorry, but i feel like owned by PD because:

Hmmm, yeah I thought the weather effects I've seen so far (admittedly I've tried one arcade race in the rain) were not as good as what I'd seen in previous videos from gameshows/trailers. The 'resolution' of the rain seems pretty low, or conversely what I mean is that the rain drops are relatively few and their size pretty big dollops of rain rather than a finer, more realistic spraying which it seemed from the Weather Effects trailer. The shadows and this just make me feel like at the last minute these kinds of effects were pared back for whatever reason. Also, the amount of glare from the rain in cockpit view is ridiculous, it's way too bright when you're driving into spray and the light is behind the spray, it just amplifies the brightness and oversaturates your entire view in a way that seems a bit over the top and makes you see ABSOLUTELY nothing, which isn't quite like real life, where you might have limited vision but you can make out details of things regardless, in this game any details are nuked into your retina by the brightness.

My next post will be positives, promise. Oh, I love the physics and the graphics do look lovely when it all comes together, brilliantly challenging game with the wheel, I need to up my game from Prologue just to keep it pointing ahead. Plus the Apex magazine is probably worth as much as the game itself, a brilliant read so far into quite technical driving techniques, it feels like the definitive racing driver's manual. I'm learning so much and I'm only about 40 pages in, a lovely addition for those getting the CE/Signature editions, I only wish they'd made it full book size as the text is tiny!!! :p

question for you guys. I had to disable my 5.1 support in the PS3 settings otherwise I get no sound in GT. This has happened in some games before(i think GTA4 also).
Even though if it's set to 5.1 in PS3 audio settings and I launch GT, it shows in GT audio settings that 5.1 detecteded but there is no sound.
Only when I disable the 5.1 in system menu does the game then work with 2 channel sound.

Dunno why this is doin this? Digital foundry states that they got it working in 5.1/7.1

Also that's another thing, how did they get it working in 7.1, my PS3 menu only shows 5.1 as the maximum?

Am outputting audio via spdif cable to the optical in on my PC , going into a creative X-fi titanium champion edition(7.1).

Speakers are Creative gigaworks 7.1 set.
