I'm the author of the review and for better or worse feel compelled to reply here. I intentionally abstained from making any references to Forza in the review other than a quick one at the beginning to address the elephant in the room. I own and have played every GT game to death. I also own every Forza game and love the series, but haven't played Forza 3 in many, many months. I'm hardly a fanboy of either.
I do, however, compete regularly in iRacing. If you're as interested in a pure driving simulator as you say you are, I highly encourage you give it a shot. There's even a very cheap 3 month plan for newbies to give it a go. It will give you new perspective on what the term "driving simulator" means. The other sims I mentioned are also very good.
