Its kind of sad that Kaz compared GT5 to the Appolo Space Program with these kinds of inconsistencies:

A-Spec Extreme
NASCAR Series: Pontiac Tempest Le Mans GTO (S)
Schwarzwald League B: Audi Pikes Peak Quattro Concept '03 (S)
Like The Wind: Minolta 88C-V '89 (S)
GT Series: Calsonic Skyline GT-R race car '93 (S)
DTM Series: BMW 2002 Turbo '73 (S)
Dream Car Championship: Ford GT LM Race Car Spec II (S)
American Championship : Jay Leno Tank Car ‘03 (S)
Japanese Championship : Nissan CALSONIC SKYLINE GT-R Race Car ‘93 (S)
European Championship: Audi Le Mans quattro ‘03 (S)
Formula GT Series: Caterham Fireblade (S)

I bought that car for 40k used.
what motivation do I really have to finish the forumla GT when I can make, most likely, more money doing those 5 minute, 83k races?

Next time post a warning that you are completely going to spoil all the prize cars from the final series. I have purposefully avoided the prize car list thread because I DONT WANT TO KNOW what I win. Thanks alot...

Gold is extremely hard to attain in any of higher challenges. I got all Silver on all the AMG ones, except on rain.. haven't tried that one yet.

Yes, the level of difficulty is high...I am trying to get Silvers on AMG intermediate challenges to unlock Nurburgring night track (without weather)...can you tell me is it unlocked it with Silvers?

Yea Ive looked at this race a few times, wanting to do it, aching to do it. But the cars the opponents use are quite scary. Im hoping to have the Zonda R before I give this a shot. I know technically its a road car. But its also one of my face cars ever. I hope to not be blown away with it

I won "like the wind" races by that zonda after modification.
Not easy to win them, but I did after few fails and won the real beast MINOLTA

My Game is just acting funny now. Only way to fix it is PD's solution to disconnect. Its like its trying to load the news but it just hangs and the curser won't even show up. I unplug my cable and it loads. The single player online has to be fixed, I feel like I'm beta testing :).

That just means that the server is overloading again. I guess they're seeing another surge in users.

Yeah I agree the lack of qualifying is silly, but I stand firm by my belief that Forza's 8 car fields are a game killer. Why? Because no major circuit racing series have such tiny fields in real life. You literally feel alone on track. In Forza I never feel like a real race is going on. In GT I do because theres cars flying around everywhere. And what about Online Play. An 8 car online race has all of these same issues, only its 10x worse. No sense running a league on Forza, the whole field gets spread out in a lap or 2. Your doing time trials at that point. On GT the online races feel vibrant and full because theres tons of drivers vying for position. THAT, my friend, is racing.

Then we get to the iRacing guy with the HUGE fields that surpass GT5's and they say "I stand firm by my belief that GT5's 16 car fields are a game killer". Dude, as I said in my LONG post just a page ago. It's all about points of views. You may BELIEVE that 8 on the track is a game killer, I KNOW that it's not. What I also KNOW is poorly put together events suck no matter how many people are on the track while well organized ones are a blast week in and week out. How do I know this.... http://wheelracers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=124 We planned to do this same event with GT5 but it's looking difficult to pull off. We want everyone to have the option of having a cockpit so that already knocks the 1000 cars to 200. Less than half the options we had before. It's looking very difficult at the moment to pull it off exactly as we had it before. It's a shame to because we're all in the mood for something different and driving around in this game seems fun. The season finale was 2 plus hours of online driving goodness at Le Sarthe. It was a blast and would have been something special in this game with the night and weather.

8,16,28 50 there's always going to be some dudes in the front who drive like they're on rails, some dudes in the back racing for pride and some dudes in the middle praying for a mishap at the front.

One thing I don't like is that, if you tune a car, then sell it, you get no more money than standard.
I am still tuning my Camaro SS '10 to the max, but it's handling is 🤬 so with new aeroparts, it is better.

I did what I could from what you said, I got 2nd. Lost by 3 seconds. This time my top speed wasn't high enough and I got passed by the R8 Race Car like I was standing still. If I can up my top speed while keeping that quick gear shift, I should be able to win. I wish I could post a video to show it. Oh, I forgot, I upped my brake power to 10. That helped too, lol.

OK, try to reduce the rear downforce incrementally until you find a good balance, test it in arcade or solo first. Also test the tops speed/stability you get on a track where you can let it run, like Daytona. I lost the first time because the passed me at the last Nurburgring straight, I was 1st but lacked top speed and ended 4th.

If you have the Furai, try it as well with maximum upgrades. I don't have the Zonda so I can not compare them. Good luck mate.

The numbers are indeed important, and I agree with you that they really make the race. But qualifying is a massive part of having a satisfying race. If you are forced to start in the middle, you have to make sure that either your car or your skills are good enough to overtake all the other cars in the (usually low) amount of laps given. If you're qualifying, you can grab pole by a whisker, and then spend the whole race a tenth of a second ahead of your competition. Now that's exciting!

In the end, you need a field of a reasonable size AND qualifying to make for a close race. One or the other just doesn't cut it.

Admittedly, I'd like to see some incentive for using a car of a more competitive level in some races. Even A-Spec points were better than nothing in GT4. The only races so far that I've been forced to use a car that was even moderately comparable to the competition have been the NASCAR races, and the AI there is so awful as to make the close racing not fun at all.
I completely agree that qualifying is needed, it seems almost sacreligious to have a racing sim without qualifying. 99% of sims have it, they really should add a qualifying feature in one of these updates.

To be fair, free practice in this game works almost as qualifying. The starting grid is made out of best times from free practice... so..

So looking around in the interior of my 908 I'm pretty sure I see what are brackets for a fire extinguisher, however there is not one there. Should I be worried?

I had the same issue yesterday and today....kept quitting and reloading....shutting off the system and restarting....nothing worked, it just froze constantly. But like you if I disconnected from the network it booted up fine.

Soooo I deleted some extraneous stuff from my HD, restarted my PS3 and I've not had any issues since.

For a while, I felt alone as it seemed like I was the only one with a 908  Not sure you should be worried about that.

Anyone know what the "Create Thumbnail" option is for when you press triangle on cars in your garage?

It's your 'avatar', it is viewable in community..

edit: oh, i thought you mean triangle on photos..

It refreshes the car thumbnail, good if you changed the paint color or installed new wheels.

My fastest car is the Veyron, but I'm not using it. The ZR1 is my second fastest. I think I can pull out a win with it. I'm gonna keep trying. Thanks for the help.

I'm having a hard time beating the "All Stars Race". I tried using the Sauber Mercedez C9 Race Car which has a lot of torque and a really high top end speed, however the car is extremely prone to losing control and spinning out. On Nurburgring for example, I can't just seem to keep the car on the track.. lol
Should I use another car? Can you guys give any info on tuning this one better? I maxed out the downforce, bought soft racing tires, lowered the car a bit more, increased the neg. camber to about 1 degree front & back and increased the braking force to 7..
Anything I should change? Thanks in advance..

Haha, you're having the same problem as me. I'm using a ZR1 for that race. Try putting your brake force at 10.
-I said this once, and I'm saying it again. The drivers who are driving those race cars on the Nurburgring are DIRTY DRIVERS! :grumpy:

Man, I just got my feelings hurt. I just raced the Nurburgring Nordschleife that's listed under the Gran Turismo All Stars Championship with my 458 Italia and I came in 8th place. 39 seconds behind 1st place. 1st had a time of 6:30.428 :indiff::(

EDIT: Tried it with tuned ZR1. I can keep up now, just can't control the car around those turns. I might have to RM the car soon.
#2: Finally was able to finish the race. Came in 4th. 26 seconds behind 1st. Damn race cars are like tanks. They don't leave the track, and if they hit you, you're going for a ride.

The SLS and Audi R8, Chrome Line are worthy opponents. The SLS is alot of fun on the Nurburgring.

I've noticed that when on arcade mode and tt, every time i complete a lap the screen freezes for a while and resumes again. Anyone faced the same issue?

Yep, same with me.. i thought it was something on my end..

Guys, I was wondering, how do i get a second B-spec driver. my first choice driver is just plain stupid.

You could try retiring him in the Drivers menu, or get him to Class 5. At Class 5 you unlock a new driver slot.

B-Spec drivers are terrible at ovals. At least Daytona.

They brake on the tri-oval part where they should be flat out, they brake in the corners way too much, it's so annoying.

I think I found a trick though. If you take their brake bias down to 1, they can't slow down as much, so they drive faster on the ovals. I might try going with 0 in the front and 1 in the rear next time and see if that's better.

Question about endurance races: Do you get the same amount of XP if you do them a second time? I'm thinking of toing the 200 miles of Laguna Seca again for the XP.

Very good suggestion, thanks alot for this. I'm going to try this out. My driver on the SSR5 is braking like way to early. He could have gold and finishes 3rd almost always. The Sunday Cup was a piece of cake, thereafter he's afraid. I want to take over like we could in GT4.

I want to speed up the time like we could in GT4...

I have a couple questions though for those who have progressed further in the game than I have...

Are you able to save during the race in endurance races? I haven't heard if that feature had made it into the game. I raced a series earlier today and realized that you weren't able to save in the middle of a series (so I had to abandon it), like you could in GT3&4, so this has made me think that we won't be able to save in an endurance race either. I'd would like to be proved wrong though. Thanks in advance!
