I really dont like the sound, it's soooo flat engine sound..
bèèèèèèè bèèè.....èèèè ruuuu bèèèè bèèèèè.... !!!! :nervous::scared::crazy::ouch:

Which particular video are you talking about? Poor sound recording equipment and a lot of background noise destroy even the best sound from the original source.

Mimaximax:

"I just want to make clear that sound was recoded via a recorder through jack-jack wire to the headphone jack exit of the TV. So it's direct capture ; you can notice that no sound of the crowd around is recorded. So I was driving like blind folded because : no grip sound and no reving sound for me while I was driving."

A composite (=crappy) cable perhaps? I still believe GT5+PS3+good sound system will produce pleasurable and relatively accurate engine sounds.

I agree. Just listen to that tire and engine sound coming from that Toyota! :D
I transfered the video to my MP4,and its the only GT5 video in my MP4!!

I feel sorry for mimaximax because..

I just checked the description in mimaximax's latest video in youtube..He said that the steering and the gear shifters were bad,and he 'direct capture' (I don't know what it means) the sounds in the demo...

He could have done better recording the sounds, but he said there were just too many people waiting to play the demo..:indiff:

Oh well, lets just hope that PD improve the sounds before TGS '10!! :D

Yeah, I noticed that almost immediately - the McLaren F1, as it drives past at the very beginning, has that awesome, close-range exhaust distortion that never seems to be evident in off-screen recordings, whilst I get it all the time in my set up.

And Famine is totally right, there is no way the sounds are terrible. They're just missing a bit of depth and variety (within themselves).

Also, it's bloody hard driving without tactile, butt-ometer feedback and sound - that explains his early off-track expeditions, at least! :scared:

Old, but still good.

I post this because I hadn't seen it in quite some time, but I am intrigued by his comments at 0:18- 0:28.

What do you think about the word 'basic' and what word can we expect to be used to describe the list at E3?

1:34-1:44 also:

Building the code up from scratch has made "new things possible within the system; it's something that we're actually looking forward to as well."

  • Damage is one new thing;
  • Some extra features in the sound engine?
  • Proper collision and tyre physics?
  • Online integration?
  • What else?

E3's looking interesting, de-finitely.

The Enzo isn't in Shift, and who mentioned anything about NFS Shift anyway?
Maybe it was mentioned because Shift is the only game I'm aware of that sounds authentic? Besides, your complaint rings a little hollow when you seem to like those truck tire sounds from a certain game. ;)

It will be interesting when I do get my hands - and wheel - on GT5, and experience the romance of my life. Then to come here and see all the complaining, I'll be wondering if they've been on the same planet I have. I associate myself with the remarks of my friend, Famine.

Shift doesn't sound "authentic" - not to me anyway - the cars are merely caricatures of themselves.

It's not just about the "samples"; it's about the overall effect.

True, but think of it this way - once you have got over the eye candy, physics, and features, what we will be left with is, at the end of the day, just another Gran Turismo. I don't mean that in a bad way either, it's a good thing!

Romance is a good way to put it...

I'm gonna take my Dodge Viper everywhere in GT5.

I think my fiancee will be jealous of my time spent in game.

That is what makes it better than all of it's competitors

Holy hell! That second vid sounds fantastic! Why does my version of prologue and the 599 sound like the first one? HALP!! I need that sound in my life 👍
Tv player?

Put a 5.1 in your life, only the subwoofer will make a BIG difference. The sound mixing is very different in a stereo tv speaker than a direct multi channel output. The game sound is tuned for a 5.1, like the image is tuned for a 1080p tv not a SDTV.

The guy who filmed this sent me some photos he made from the booth. Its the same truck that stood on the IAA, but one detail caught his eye.

Look at the track map on the bottom, its not the 24h Combo nor the Tourist version, but the old Track with its old Start/Finish straight. I'm wondering, do we get the Südschleife too

Give these men/women knowledge Zero!! All honesty Zero is dead on I remember getting flamed for saying GT5P sounds good and that a 5.1 makes a huge difference. It really does though as you can see in the comparison videos

Interesting. It might have been a simple marketing mistake by the company that made the poster and it slipped passed QA. But it would be nice to think we had the option.

It would not be unusual as Fuji had all the old variations too, all with different looks and textures

Like the new slogan, roughly translated;

"The adrenalin is real, everything else close to reality".

Dood! That is the old layout, with the ~270° Südkehre - the first part of which used to branch off under a bridge to the Südschleife...! It's a bit stylised, mind you.

If they include the historic version, that would be awesome! It was so much more bumpy, and had several jumps instead of just the two - one even in the long straight at the end. It seems the map shown has the chicane before the start-finish straight, which was only introduced in '66-'67 I think.

Bring back the real Grüne Hölle! :dopey:

I don't imagine we will get the Südschleife, it's a bit tricky to pinpoint nowadays - there are a number of projects to re-create it for other sims, relying on period photography and documentation - as well as google maps!

mmm... eagle eyes you have, yes!
Haha but I don't think we will get the Südschleife...
Otherwise they would announced that next to the 3 versions we will get.
Bet it's a mistake

Or, maybe they just put any old representation on there knowing that 99.99% of people out there would not know the difference!

Hey, you looked like one.

A bit of common sense... no final game, a very bad balanced vid, exists vids and demos that prove a sound upgrade since the Prologue, etc...

And you can say that this is the same, but not to my ears:

Right one sounds better because he is playing GT5 Prologue SPEC 1. For some reason PD reduced car sound quality in SPEC 2 and 3.

Here is a little comparison.

SPEC 1

SPEC 2 or 3

Wow, if thats true its pretty shocking ...didn't notice that until now.
Would be interesting to know the reason for this ...

Not to mention the old version was very challenging and more likely to crash.:trouble:

I hope PD gives us a version of the Nordschleife that does'nt have the chicane at the final corner, before the start-finish line.

Is the Sudschleife still used today? Was'nt there a motorcycle race held at the Sudschleife?:D

The only explanation I can come up with is that they're making for some reason certain game features to look much worse than they actually are, that is, dumbing down the game on purpose except for certain aspects (as they have to show some kind of improvements after all). Maybe it's a plan to leave us (and the competition) speechless when they will finally release the final version. E3?

The Sudschleife is practically unexistent presently. It was abandoned and quite destroyed during the construction of the GP strecke, which overlays it in very few spots.

Or they actually havn't improved anything and what you see is actually the current state of the game, and you'll be waiting for a big disappointment. 👍

That is of course another possibility, but then I wonder why in the first release of GT5P certain cars clearly sounded better?

Maybe they thought otherwise, or needed to reduce the memory / cpu footprint of the audio-engine so they could improve other parts of the game, all speculation ofcourse.

Bet that's the explanation...
But you can never underestimate the power of the GTP-Force !

Don't forget that Kaz said that PD is going to give us updates on GT5P up until the release of the FULL GT5.
