Hello. I have noticed that a bit of information is getting overlooked. A new area has been confirmed but I have yet to see screenshots of it. Does anyone have pictures of the Belgian High Fens area (one of the themes where you can build point to point custom tracks the other being Tuscana)?

Does one person have it? One blog?

Hi all, I've had a good read of most, if not all, of the posts from the last few days. All the news is amazing and has me more than excited about November 3rd.

One thing I've been curious about for a long time is what happens on the Top Gear test track at the apex of the figure of 8. Can we crash into cars coming the other way across the 'intersection'? That'd be mayhem, and perhaps not in the spirit of Gran Turismo. I'm interested to see how they've approached this. Not a big issue obviously, but interesting I think.

I haven't found a video experimenting with that yet, though I may have missed something. Anybody seen one?

They might make the cars int o"ghost cars" right at the intersection depending on some circumstances. That way collisions will be eliminated at least for the cars that are a certain number of seconds apart from each other on the course. The people next to you would still be able to hit you.

I think you will see some of it tomorrow as a publication embargo gets lifted. The article on IGN which mentioned it is currently "not available", probably because they wern't ment to be published yet.

Yeah that would be the only way. Because if you go a lap down to the leader in gt5p you will become a ghost car so its a similar scenario.

That would make sense. Without some sort of measure in place, the track would be more suited to Destruction Derby than GT5.

Still, I'm quite keen to see it experimented with in a video.

Haven't seen these posted in here yet.

What happened to the 63 new screenshots on the front page? Were they published too early and had to be pulled?

Haha! I love karts. The drivers in front always look totally gormless; like dummies on a wheelie-chair... It's like that in real life, too. :D

Should be fun online. 👍

It could be that it loaded faster because it is a photomode location, adapted as a circuit? Or perhaps it was the last circuit used?

EDIT: you deleted your question; now it looks like I'm talking to myself

Man, that new carting track is a joke. A slightly bent circle? Really PD? That's going to be fun to drive, like, once. Why even bother making a circuit like that?

My guess is that it's actually just a photomode location botched into a circuit for the demo. Unless this is a new feature...

Also, somebody mentioned that there was a horse race there, on roughly that shape course, a few days ago - notice how it's actually dirt / block paving, but the demo has tarmac?

Could be quite fun for karts. Has some interesting elevation changes.

Perhaps, but they were from another GT fan site. So perhaps they had exclusives on them.

sorry :p

but yeah, looking at the other track/videos; loading times seem the same

Whoa, I'm giving my best to keep on with this thread, but I can't.

Well, we just had confirmation of almost all of the most wanted features ( excepting maybe the livery editor, which I would find interesting, but I won't miss it at all ), nice PD. Also, I know this one is just a little addition compared to the awesome stable of classics but, they have modeled the Impreza STI Sedan, a quite new car if I recall correctly, maybe this is a hint of an improved modelling process? Who knows? By any measure, the game delivers a mind blowing experience for cars enthusiasts, racing addicts, die-hard fans and even those who are astonished by the impressive graphics. Stunning. ;)

Favourite car in the car selection screen vid? Fiat 500F, I just can't look at that car without smiling. :D

You may be on to something here...

The second video of the Ferrari looks real... WTH! is this game going to be real life?

I might have to agree with you. :D I bought several different versions in GT4, hoping to amass the entire alphabet, probably.

Also, the Impreza "sedan" seems a much nicer-looking car. 👍

Lapped the ring dozens of times on the italian beetle (500F) while drinking, roughly fifteen minutes each lap just to relax. It's like an intensive therapy, you should try. ;)

Yeah, it would be my next car choice if I weren't living in the tax country, it should be more fun than the hatch, not exactly tail happy but at least there's a tail on it and that's a nice start. :D

Also, karting looked ok to me, I'm praying for motorland this time so we can use the little brats in a more "complex" course, motor sports land from GT2 was a perfect karting track, hopefully PD remembered of it too.

I'm baffled by the news, seriously, I'm getting an overdose.

Now we've seen Karts and track-editor ( more or less ) being confirmed, anyone wants to guess about that stunt-arena also being promised?
Maybe it's being left for TGS ( or put on hold for GT6 perhaps... ) and I can't really get my head around what a stunt-arena within the context of GT actually implies but since I initially wasn't convinced by Karts and track-editor being included ( which luckily they did ) it may be as well.;)

👍

It is good to be back, I was angry  with GT because of the whole premium/standard thing.

But after all this stuff being revealed  it does not really matter now. Long Live GT5!!!

I remember in a video tour of PD's studio they talked about how they got CAD drawings from manufacturers and then downscaled and reverse engineered them for GT5. Of course this is not possible with all cars but rather more for new ones. I bet that Jag, Ferrari and Ford GT from the 60's were really painstaking to recreate.

Don't worry, Slipsztream will always find something to raise and spoil everyone's fun just because it feeds him.

First he was so loud about Premiums, now he says "who needs them like this".

Than he wasted a week of his life posting alone only to beat the dead dog called "Standard won't have interior". And other dead dog called "Standard will look bad".

Almost 2 months after we all saw 16 Prem on track, he raises that again like E3 never happened. But now he adds night and rain, deliberately knowing that will be nice playground for further monologues. Like there are no logic that points out how at least Nurb and LeMans will be Premium tracks, with DN transitions and weather and 16 Prems ontrack, because obviusly evertything we saw in past 4 years shows the effort made to recreate as real as possible endurance races.

However, I have nothing against that all monologues and like because they amuse me. But I don't find them "positive criticizm" or "objective doubtfulism" but something else instead, however that is just me.

:D

That does not seem fair. I know whenever developers start talking about weather effects I automatically start thinking about the hit on the frame rate. And KY has said that at the moment there will not be dynamic weather on all tracks, there is only one reason for that. Frame rate issues. It is the same with night racing. I am not convinced that PD have the power in reserve to allow 16 cars all with light sources racing at all tracks. Rally is another one. Why has it always been limited to a few cars on track at once? Frame rate. I will bet any amount of money that the toscana (?) stage with the day-night transition will not allow 16 premium cars to race.

Now if you want you can start attacking me personally also. But I think the concerns are quite valid. If it is the case will GT5 be any lesser for it? Not to me, I will still love it. Though that does not mean we should pretend such concerns are not there.

SO should we expect any more news.Yes I am spoilt.

You have a point. Of course, it could simply come down to a standard / premium circuit split. Premiums get day / night / weather, standards don't. This is most likely an OCD thing for Kaz, since day / night (and weather transitions) use dynamic lighting, which will look utter crap with circuits that have pre-baked lighting in the surface textures. Not to mention the extra sky effects required for proper weather.

Just more food for though :)
