For our Australian friend, the embargo lifts at 7pm AEST.

If it's supposed to be shown at 09:00 am time of Germany, than not even 2.5 h to go.

Btw. I am leaving the house in 20 minutes, armed with my camera.:dopey:

From my point of view it wasn't valid, and I stated that. Of course to you it's valid, you made it.
The perfectionist bit is to debate, but I will not argue it anymore. Many people have done it before and doing it again would most likely not be worth it.
The part about standard cars, doesn't that alone throw out the whole perfectionist argument?

He can be a perfectionnist, (and he is), but living in a real world, he still need to make compromises...

refer to the post below:

This is not directed towards anyone in particular.

Perfectionist- — n
1. a person who strives for or demands the highest standards of excellence in work, etc

Inability to achieve perfection does not disqualify someone from being a perfectionist. Especially when they are attempting astronomically large projects. Sacrifices are made. Besides, "Perfect" is an opinion.

Because that's how it actually is. Because if the size of the kart it requires very little steering.

Here's an example although on an even more technical and twisty track than the one in GT demo but you see how very little steering is actually being done

I am loving this video!! makes me want to drive karts for real!
been so long i havent been in one.

Embargo, time for you to GO!

Which is a little less than 2h30 away from now.... (no matter where you live on this earth)...

i guess i will go to sleep at 1am tonight (giving myself 1h surfing GTP for the news)...

By my reckoning, the current GMT (Greenwich Meridian Time) is 4:50am, leaving us another 4h10m to wait.

Unless GMT stands for 'German Mean Time' or something? In which case you should of course ignore me!

Me too, too bad we don't have any local ones here. It does no good for someone who loves racing.

For the Aussies, it will be 5pm (Melbourne). We are 8 hours in front of Germany

From where i am, it is currently GMT -8h!

regardless of the time in germany, if currently in Los Angeles, it is exactly 10pm (22h) therefore i must add 8 hours for the GMT, which makes it 30h-24h = 6am

so there is still 3 more hours!??!! for everyone on this planet... (including you neo-zelanders)
we are actually 3 hours away from real news...

never mind, i will go to sleep... it'll be too late for me :grumpy:

Instead of confusing yourselves and calculating it in a complicated way, this is the most simple way to do it.

Simply type in "Time in Cologne Germany" into google. It will tell you the exact time. As of typing this it is now 7:05am and 3:05pm here in Australia. So that means there's less than 2 hours to go.

now it is 7:06am here in germany about 100km from cologne and the gamescom away :)

Well I'm confused! According to this: http://wwp.greenwichmeantime.com/ , GMT is currently 5:06am, 4 hours short of our 9:00am embargo lifting.

We're splitting hairs either way! What will we learn? That's the real question!

Bekimche, remember we should be considering GMT, not the time in Cologne, according to Famine's interview.

Ahh my mistake. So is that why everybody's getting confused

Time will tell!

More importantly, will we get answers to some more all too often asked questions?

-Standard car cockpits (We already know the answer here I reckon, but some still have their doubts)
-Clarification on the number of tracks
-Extent of day/night cycles and weather implementation
etc. etc.

Nice cartoon from GAF :dopey:

Lmao, especially at the 2D trees part. XD That was a biggie for a very "opinionated" mob that would drop by from time to time at the official gran turismo thread over at gametrailers.com forums. Whole thing was pretty spot on.

That does not seem fair. I know whenever developers start talking about weather effects I automatically start thinking about the hit on the frame rate. And KY has said that at the moment there will not be dynamic weather on all tracks, there is only one reason for that. Frame rate issues. It is the same with night racing. I am not convinced that PD have the power in reserve to allow 16 cars all with light sources racing at all tracks. Rally is another one. Why has it always been limited to a few cars on track at once? Frame rate. I will bet any amount of money that the toscana (?) stage with the day-night transition will not allow 16 premium cars to race.

Now if you want you can start attacking me personally also. But I think the concerns are quite valid. If it is the case will GT5 be any lesser for it? Not to me, I will still love it. Though that does not mean we should pretend such concerns are not there.

Thanks Nathan 👍

I think it's been brought up a few times by other people in various ways, so I'll re-state; I criticize or bring up concerns because I do like the game, and want it to be as good as possible. Being easily impressed by literally anything PD does doesn't make anybody more enlightened; it just proves PD could package up anything and still rake in money. I'll get to the 16 cars / time of day / weather thing soon...

Although, before I forget: it is odd that rallies were limited to 2 cars in GT4... yet every rally track in PSP can handle the game's 4 cars.

Nasanu, I have no intention to attack anyone, the whole point of my post was going into direction of Slipstreamz post history in last 60 days.

Also, I clearly say I find it amusing, because there is no one single thing that can be revealed regarding GT5 that he does not find some "constructive criticism".

However, I wouldn't say a thing if he himself hadn't made at least 100 posts in StdVsPrem thread regarding praising "what he will do with Premium cars in photomode", etc. Now, today we finally get latest images of Prems, and now he says "ho needs cars detailed like that". It was hilariuos moment :D

On the other hand, I share your (and his respectfuly) fears regarding DN and Weath transitions on all tracks, but I really have high hopes - and until it is clear we will not have it, I remain positvly confident 👍

Amar, I know you are a (deservedly) well-respected member here... but you've obviously been mis-reading my posts. Oh, I plan on taking a bunch of pictures of Premiums, because the detail is insanely good. Not taking pictures isn't going to somehow change the level of detail, so I might as well make the most of the situation. My argument (and I still feel this way) was that if they would've eased up a bit on this insane detail, we could have more Premiums instead of 800 recycled GT4 cars. But even then, I do realize that the benefit of them going this ridiculously far with detail (like the Miura's wheel) is that these Premiums can be brought into GT6 without a thought. The future-proofing works here because the Premiums are modeled in a more realistic manner. GT4's one-piece car shells have some very obvious limitations. I really don't see a need to "start from scratch" for a very long time because of these Premiums. So in that sense, I'm all for them. It's just a shame they take so stupidly long that the majority of the cars in the game aren't new models. So even currently, I do see valid arguments for both sides; the necessary evil of recycling GT4 cars to obtain a level for Premiums that makes them wholly useable for years to come, or, PD not having enough fore-planning to have all cars to one level of quality for a uniform feel throughout the game. I could actually argue either side as I see fit; but after so many years of waiting, yeah, I'm a bit disappointed. Doesn't mean I still won't play the crap outta GT, just as I have the last 12 years!

I'm just curious how PD will manage. I've witnessed slowdown, noticeable amounts, in Prologue. High Speed Ring is the easiest one for me to replicate it, in the esses, with a few cars near me as I'm taking them. This is a game that had cars roughly half the polygon count of some of the more recent Premiums, and no dynamic weather or time of day. And since it seems every playable demo within the last few months has been limited to 8 cars, I do wonder. I'm not even saying I'm going to be disappointed if PD can't manage a 16-car, day/night, weather-affected race; in all honesty, I don't really expect them to, because that is an incredibly, incredibly large amount of info for the system to deal with, even one as powerful as the PS3. I just find it weird that people are toting around this "GT does 16 cars on track, with time of day changes, and weather" line, when we haven't actually seen a single example of that.

Then again, Prologue's a couple years old now, and PD has always been able to wring more performance out of Sony's systems than just about any other developer, so if anybody could manage it, it'd be them. But since even you share my concerns, I'm obviously not that out to lunch ;). If we don't get a 16 car, day-to-night, weather race, you won't hear me complaining about it not existing, though. Just want to clear that up. And in all honesty, I don't expect weather or night cycles to appear on anything but the new and/or re-done-for-GT5 tracks. As has been mentioned, the pre-determined shadows in GT4 tracks would play havoc with a dynamic time cycle.

Hey, we'll all find out in... 74 days?

I don't see the need the need to have D/N on any tracks except Daytona, Nurburgring, Le Mans and Spa if it's in as they all hold 24 hour races and assuming they will also have them in the game.

...but what about any other tracks? Surely GT fans everywhere wouldn't mind the original GT endurance race to be turned into a 24H race. Hey, Grand Valley!

Hey we also know from the videos of that tokyo city track at night, just wonder will it only be at night or day/night. I think its going to be an option in free play to choose but in career it will be a random thing.

Every endurance venue over an hour and half should have day/night cycle, shorter and you wont really notice.

It would also be nice if all the tracks could be started at slightly different times of day, so you race say grand valley 3 different times and each time the sun, brightness and shadows are all a bit different.

Iam very hyped about doing a dusk til dawn lemans run.

They said you could sync real world time with the real world tracks in game. So I assume alot of the real life tracks can be dynamic day/night. Also was said that the clouds in the sky would move unlike the still 'picture' that is in Prologue.

Well, find out where your time zone is compared to Germany. In Germany, the embargo is lifted at 9 AM. I'd google time zone maps. For every zone to the east, add an hour, making it later, and vice versa.

Can we even expect new info getting released? And hasn't other sites broken the agreement anyway? So if it's on the net, it's in this thread already.

But we'll know for sure in half an hour i suppose..

There might be info on the whole standard vs premium deal so we can put that debate to rest.

Yeah, it should start in an hour... I think. Which is:
4am EST
6am PST
9am GMT
So on so forth...
