No offense but a lot of people (including me) think that joke is pretty old. 2 years in fact.

Sounds nothing like our Dyson, must be a JaYouAr or Asston Marion
as long as they go unchanged you're going to keep hearing it, better get used to it as PD doesn't seem to have gotten the memo, and we're halfway through 2012...
That sounds like something from ten years ago!
I think the whole damned industry needs to learn, something.
But it's still true! GT% sounds suck!No offense but a lot of people (including me) think that joke is pretty old. 2 years in fact.
Have to agree with this guy^^...Beats vacuums anyday![]()
Yes, awesome idea! "We need to record a sound sample from that car... Let's use that mechanical contraption that makes more noise than the actual car, and let's use crappy equipment to record it! Those suckers, errr...umm... our fans will still buy and swear by our crap 15 years from now!"Look at this video from the day Kaz and some PD members recording the ACTUAL sound of the Vector M12 for GT2, on a DYNO.

Crappy equipment? Please qualify that.

I know, I was too harsh with the equipment comment... Sorry!![]()
Hahaha true story. That was probably recorded a whilr back now.
I'm not sursprised why Gt sounds so terrible after that video![]()
I bet some of you have V8 or V6 vacuum cleaners at home. At least a 4cil one.
Old joke and a very childish one. The sounds are far from perfect, but calling that vacuum cleaner its stupid.
Ah yeah, I forgot... it's just the internet on 2012. Everybody knows everything.
I seriously doubt there will be a substantial improvement to the sound in GT5, save for a miraculously accurate re-attribution of existing samples. The real changes will have to wait until GT6, but platform shortcomings will probably mean those will not be what everyone wants. So don't get your hopes up, and don't cry if it's no different (which is not to say you shouldn't complain by that point.)
considering the development time of GT5, GT6 will most surely be on the next gen system, no more excuses for PD.

Anyone notice that the start up engine sounds in the garage much better than the in-game sounds? You know, when you get into a car in the garage menu.
I wonder what they used there...
Heh, just makes you wonder even more how PD could possibly have gotten the engine sounds all wrong given they had the equipment, and actually recorded sounds. Some of you who want to keep believe PD recording sounds from their computers or vacuume cleaners? Look at this video from the day Kaz and some PD members recording the ACTUAL sound of the Vector M12 for GT2, on a DYNO. The car had a burnout though, but who cares they did great.

With additional dyno whining just to make it more authentic I suppose
The cars need to be driven.
