If the sound of the F430 still sucks I can't imagine the 458 Italia, Maserati GranTurismo S and Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione...

Lol, annoying transmission wobble is called realism mate. :)

But GT5 takes the annoying crown for not even getting the right engines in their cars.

I would also like to post over 9000 rFactor videos too, as it still is the flagship sounding race sim, but it's not appropriate at this point when GT5 is so close to release.

What I'm more worried about, is how I just read Amar's thoughts on a "much better" F430 than the version heard in Prologue... Is this another benefit of having the wonder-fix sound system, or is this a case of being manipulated by psychosomatic belief?

Whatever it is, I'm not pre-emptively packing up anything yet until I hear some direct-feed audio, I promised myself that and I'm still hoping for the best. This game is the only reason for getting a PS3 instead of a graphics card for rF2, so ASAP please when people get their copies. Thanks. 👍

P.S. Mursi287, was that a separate rev-limiter sample I heard? It put a huge smile on my face! Most rFactor mods don't have that it's just incredible.

P.P.S. Ok, I'm seeing direct-feed audio footage too, but there's music and I want to hear the supercars mostly.

Again, I hope the exhaust mods are fixed. Don´t want to upgrade my Viper´s exhaust just to find out that the engine magicaly turned into a V6:grumpy:

Yes it was. You can believe me, that I get a big big smile in my face after hearing the rev limiter the first time:drool:
For this 24 hour event, GSMF http://www.team-gsmf.com/page/index.php made a modified version of the PCC07 version (see downloadarea PCC07). One chnage was the rev limiter I think. Unfortunalety the Mod of this event was only accessable for the participants.
These 24 hours were my best 24 hours in my life :dopey: :O

BTT: I will let myself be surprised how GT5 sounds now. Only 5 days left and we can make our own opinion :)
 
Wow, if Griffith500 thinks PD ought to give away the game if it sounded like that awesome rFactor mod, he probably thinks they should be paying us to play GT5 as it actually sounds.

Seriously, that Porsche sounded amazing!

I'm not questioning the presence of the wobble, more its execution. It shouldn't (and doesn't, according to the videos posted by your good selves) sound the same each time, or wobble Yep. It seems that with the interior view, the lack of intake sound is killing the feel. Instead you get that "engine" whine, of all the pumps, fans and chains etc.

At least it no longer screeches and hurts your ears. It's ok enough to enjoy the physics

The main thing is feedback, which GT5 is doing. A lot of nice sampled stuff sounds too static for a game
ie F1 2010, sounds nice on the PC version when you driving, but conveys crap all on what the tyres are doing
 
So it is safe to say that only a few cars, well let's say not all cars to not piss people off, have improved sound?

I understand the mechanics behind it and the complexities of "tuning" the audio, but it worries me that what is meant to be a top-quality sim has sub-par physics simulation, especially of the drivetrain! :dunce: But that is whole other kettle of fish...
Anyway, it's not rocket science. As I've said before, these little incidental details need to be handled by the physics engine, not by pre-recorded samples. Clearly no game focused on modern racing can pull this off yet.

Exactly! This is one of the main requests fans have put forward to the developers of the gMotor engine, as well as a tonne of others mind. ISI has basically had the same 6 year development cycle that GT5 has had by now, although rF2 won't be being built from scratch, things like tyre model, ffb will be brand new. Basically we're all hoping for the same sort of epic innovation that GT5 has seen, such as (but not limited too) dynamic time/weather, all that humidity/wind stuff, they are all ideas shared across sim development, which is nice. I also wouldn't bet against Forza 4 having all that too at some point because of competition lol.

Anyway that was really off-topic; but I wanted to agree/reply.
 
Manual gear changes and heel/toe with a G25. I can tell that sounds better than the screech that is the M3 in Prologue

Gah, I know rotaries for being deep, but not while on WOT, the throttle opens up and the exhaust screams.

That is a Tuned RX-7 man I think it sounds ok cant really hear it though from the tires and music.

I know it's a tuned RX7, it's what I'm hoping it'll sound like when tuned..(or close)
Even still, that video you provided sounds MUCH better, it has an abundant raspy sound.

Yes sir. 👍 It's in stock form so its not going to sound like a beast. In GT4 when you upgraded the exhaust the sound change, I completely agree with you. I wish I could buy a RX-7 though.

Thats exactly how i would describe the SpiritR in GT4, so the GT5 version must be way ahead, keep in mind it was a replay video and the dynamics have totally changed, now the sound changes depending where the car is in relation to the camera, if the camera is facing the engine you will hear th eengine more and if its towards the rear or exhaust you will hear the exhaust more, we're still yet to hear the new Rx7 sounds from cockpit or roofcam(where supposedly the cars sound their "fullest").

Damn I love the FDRX7, its been a 13 year love affair ever since i saw an all black one at a tuner in downtown Montreal when i was a youngin, i used to play with their Rim imaging station slap on rims on any car they had the template to...this was 1997, it was like cutting edge to me.

Must watch for any FDRX7 Fan.

Exactly! sounds good, Even in the BMV The RX-7 did not sound super loud from the interior.

Ahhhhh yesss, the low rev V8 rumble took me by surprise i really wasnt expecting that, i guess through lowcut filters the lowend gets thin as the revs climb(which is life like but maybe not to this extent where the rumble vanishes completely at high rev) that could also be due to the narrow frequency range of the camera used...they have wierd compressors where low end is sacrificed for high end based on what is loudest and vice versa...
id hold out on harsh\positive judgements based on Iphone\BB videos though.

The maserati video is much too low to hear anything really, but at one point int he replay angle as its whizzzing by you can hear some good sound...just have to wait, but i know what Amar means when he says the sound is something else on a 5.1, as soon as that SLS started to rumble i started believing again, and the shift sounds as well as the car behavior on upshifts are much improved.
