PP Ninja (277pp) Still driving some cheap KA ! for fun.
Holy Mowgli! That Ka is the one to trust, then?
So many
PP Ninja's. I think IRL this VW Beetle is the most cute car & affordable at that time

(Stock 248pp)
The Beetle has always been a bit of a shady character. When boosted, that car suddenly does things that no self-respecting Beetle should do. It has always surprised me - even in GT4 and GT5 it was a giant killer. This search for low PP cars that perform well seems to be bringing out many of the VWs.
The only way I'm going to go any faster in this is to get the perfect grid with good drafts and no AI parked at the apexes. It's been one or the other so far. Time to try something different. Looks like there are still ninja cars to be found.
Finally I've reached a solid conclusion that can be repeatable with testing.
The game has a
built-in Whoosier Rule.
I'm sure some of you Hunters may have noticed that I won in the Schwimmwagen with a lead rabbit,
Herbert, that was considerably slower than the usual lead rabbits such as
Ackermann or
Stone.
I recounted this before in this thread - testing it out with muscle cars; the game offers 'slower' fields if the player can't beat the faster fields.
This is a form of dynamic game balancing.
There was a time most of us believed that the fields were random, and that the lead rabbits were always the same.
Upon considerable testing we found that the fields are not random and are generated with some pattern - usually fast fields offered and in fact faster fields offered if the player beats that field.
As well - there was considerable
flex in the rubberbanding - lead rabbits seemingly
pacing us whatever our speeds.
And other times, cars placed strategically in spots (according to our individual times) to baffle and foil us.
This happens whatever speed you are doing. Whether fast or slow the rabbits seem to be at the particular apex to make it difficult
I began the Schwimmwagen event with 400 PP - and went up against
Stone. I lost to
Stone. I kept playing that field and increased my speeds, but
Stone also increased his speeds.
I went upto 415 PP and tried another field.
Now I was faster but was given
Ackermann to beat. I couldn't beat him - kept losing at around the 5:30+ mark to his 5:20+.
Changed the field and suddenly got
Herbert. This was no surprise.
From considerable testing I knew the game would do this - it
wanted me to win a race, get the prize, be happy.
This was as if the game had decided that I was no Expert - but still wanted to provide a decent enough race for me, as an Intermediate, at a pace I could handle.
Boosted power to 420 PP and blazed away for all it was worth, and beat
Herbert in a close and exciting race with a 5:27+ (Obviously with this time if only the
Ackermann field was available I would have never beaten the race. But because I kept losing, the game came up with a slower field.
This also means the game keeps records of our prowess.
Next I boosted the car to 425 PP and ran like a rabbit getting a 5:25 - but this time
Herbert sped away and I lost.
Now the game was playing with me - trying to make me go faster and beat
Herbert again at a faster time - till I could do it so well that the game could bring back
Stone or
Ackermann back as I improved.
Definitely a built-in Whoosier Rule. To each their own.
The game was made to satisfy all sorts of drivers - from the fastest to the slowest.
This game takes training drivers to the point of the gameplay being . . ..
