Running my Speedbird for more laps in the Forest, I have been able to increase my MOV to 45 seconds:

I especially enjoy driving the RUF BTR up the hill and thru the tunnel. Just at the top of the hill the Speedbird gets light as you change direction and head down the hill:)

I find that I'm having problems with the final right-hand corner before the S/F straight. Especially if the path forward is blocked by a three-car train with the Oullim Motors Spirra in trail:

Forcing me to swing wide thru the corner doesn't make me very comfortable:nervous:

The TS030 is quite hyped as the go-to car. But what about the Zonda? And the R18TDI? Given the chance to compete by themselves who will be the fastest AI driver? And what would it take a player do to engineer such a situation? Only time will tell as the stats come in and the leaderboard develops a clear pattern between the two events.

I found the R18 and TS030 to be of very similar pace, and when I got them both in the same race, the TS030 came from behind, overtook the R18 and won with half a second.

The Zonda seems a bit off pace compared to the other 2.

And as a "go-to car", if you refer to the car you (as the player) use, the TS030 is very superior at a given PP, the only thing that can touch it is the 2J.
 
More Speedbird. Sorry for the blurry picture - MOV 50.693. Got held up a bit lapping the Impreza on the final turn. That's the first time that's happened. It may be just a coincidence but I always seem to get the best margin the first time I run a race. The rabbit usually does over eight minutes then on subsequent goes he, or a different rabbit, runs about 10s quicker.

I concur - many would feel the same, though some might prefer one over the other, putting aside the likes of cars from the 2J to the 2X.

So we're looking at it from the viewpoint of the AI - and from the viewpoint therefore of the game programmers - who can pretty much make any car the fastest (or slowest) as they wish - whether simulating the real potential of the machine or using dynamic game balancing to vet the game.
This means removing some cars that could be given to AI for the particular race, or particular fields triggered by a particular completion time, or a shuffling of AI among the cars that will then make them perform a little less predictably to the player.
An AI driver who is at level 40 (as an example) and runs hot may perform better than an AI that is at level 40 and runs cold - again depending on the proximity of the player (which triggers non-rabbitline behavior.)

While the TS030 is most certainly a good car for players for the event, and while the AI that drives it in this race is also a very good driver, the R18 seems to get on that podium - and at the top of it - quite often in spite of the TS030 in the field.
I have seen fast Seasonal event runners at GTPlanet run the field with the fastest cars - and quite often it is the R18 chasing them, even beating the TS030. It also looks like if players take the 2J out the R18 makes an appearance:

There's more like that - and at present the R18 is the Top Stud on the Board.
Time will tell - and we have a top stud of our own to work with - that Italian stallion of impeccable breeding - the P4. A car that might lend a twist to the event and make it fun whatever the outcome. ;)

Meanwhile, in other news seems like we hear the call of the Moose:

(Though I doubt this one will be a Moose event :lol: )

The last leaderboard recorded in the OP for you was 9:14 and you won over him - this time he wasn't taking any chances - and learned to be well ahead of you.
Do you remember the starting grid? Where was Matsuda? How much was he handicapped?
Matsuda and Vasquez are only a couple of seconds apart - so where they sit on the grid at the start may play a huge part in their completion time. If you get them on pole, of course, is when they're going to be doing flying laps.
Nice job pulling that off - could be hard to beat.

Time is running out and I've only had the chance so far to run a few races with el Diablo. I must find the time for some karting - but meanwhile the BTR and the P4 are howling that they were in line . . . the weekend awaits.
I'm glad you guys are having fun - we're really maxing out the game now, exploring very deeply as we go into what is possibly our final year with it - there is no doubt you bunch of GT Hunters will carry all these experiences forward into the next iteration making that experience even more immersive. 👍

I believe that Matsuda started in 2nd place. I had several other races with this line up and Matsuda was always 3-4 seconds slower.
 
Here's my result for the Jet Karter: The AI certainly like to hang in my draft once I get past them:( but Hansson gave me just a little breathing room at the finish line:)

I also tried to pull away from Mayr but he seemed to be better at latching onto my draft so he's two tenths closer (and I ran quite a few races against him):

I also tried blocking Mayr which allowed Gutierrez to slip past for second, but I couldn't pull away from Gutierrez either:

I ran a few more races against Hansson, but couldn't open up a larger gap as Hansson seems to have found more pace:irked:, but I did run a 3:14.735 race:)

Matsuda is a wimp ! Against Diablo he goes faster, against the 330 he gives up . Once I pass him he just gives up, I have tried nursing him along, he just coasts around. He started 2nd and was 1st before end of 1st lap.

The trick may be to let him lead and chase him instead of beating him and taking off. :mischievous:
While I'm not entirely sure that the AI know the difference between good and evil, I am being persuaded that they actually have a developed ego. :lol:

I would love to update those Sierra times, @whySOSerious; I sped nights tossing and turning wondering who will come up with a 76-car pass. Unfortunately you are showing only 70 cars passed. :(
I must say, though, that I'm glad you posted that - just shows what can be done - I think not many players can get to that 70-car mark cleanly.

Umm, My 76 pass photo is from the GT-R (challenge 4) there is no posted record for the first challenge, I think you should change mine to challenge 4, and put him as the challenge 1 recordholder, as he is in fact in the fiat.

What a gaff! Sorry about that. I had to go back and trace quite a few records before I figured out what happened - and finally had post #207 and post #1360 explain things to me. :lol:

What happened originally was that @Vic Reign93 gave me the first challenge and that was the only one up (we had no challenge 1, 2, 3 etc.) That challenge stayed up for almost a year unbeaten till FJocke came along and equaled it.
They then shared the title for some time.
Thereafter Elias came along and smashed that record, and his leaderboard was put up as the title-holder's time.
But after that we did more Sierra challenges and race 4 stayed in place as race 1 which led to the confusion (and the actual Race 1 not done (till whySOSerious took a shot at it lately) and so we now have the actual first challenge board for Race 1 (a.k.a. Sierra Time Trial 1 - the Fiat!)
So I have to move, (as Elias has said) the GT-R Race down to the fourth slot and throw WhySOSserious' leaderboard in as the title-holders time in the first slot.
Thanks for spotting that guys - can't imagine how that remained a glitch for so long. :lol: Good thing TRL answered that SOS. ;)
I shall adjust everything accordingly soon - just dove in here to give you a head's-up on that. 👍
