Thanks @steve nfs 👍:)

I had something in mind for another Offline A-spec challenge, though I hadn't thought of anything for the next On-line Seasonal challenge.

In regard to the Mountain Mover challenge, I found it quite interesting how I couldn't get the Cuore to drive up the mountain:crazy::boggled: I would pass the AI cars on all the down-hills and thru the corners and then go so slooooooowwwww up the hills that it was painfull:ouch:

I did have a go at it but the time was so pathetic I didn't bother to note it. On my first attempt I failed to get up the nasty hill completely. With the turbo changed to mid or low it at least had enough torque to keep the wheels turning, but then they just kept spinning all the way up. Think it was doing about 5mph.
So come on, you can tell us now, @steve nfs, what's the secret? Or did you just drive really fast downhill to make up for it?

@StirlingMoose -
I don't know what @steve nfs was doing to achieve his speed:bowdown:, but I found 5 seconds by taking off the highest level turbo and instead ran my Cuore with less horsepower because I would get less wheel-spin on the up-hills. I also only pushed half-throttle up the entire hill, because full-throttle would again spin the wheels excessively.

I had a similar problem. I think the best that I could do was position 5.

There were some MTM cards that didn't make it before the cut-off time, and unfortunately had to be disregarded, however it must be mentioned that both GTsail290 and steve nfs did a tremendous job of driving those times down, with steve ending on top of the Board though GTsail290 topped it at the moment of close-off. A great effort by both, and quite astounding to make the Avanzato R such a monster.

Once again the invincible @Ed_Night takes the #1 slot in our in-House TTs.
New TT will be arranged shortly by the maestro himself - though when he challenges it turns into a Moose call - every critter scurries for the hills. The real Moose answered the call, though, and the Rman effect kicked in to add to the fun, but the Dark Knight retained his place to take the #1 spot again.

@StirlingMoose -

I also only pushed half-throttle up the entire hill, because full-throttle would again spin the wheels excessively.

Another solution would have been to put max ballast to front end. I had all power upgrades and adding ballast lowered my lap time 7 by seconds. I think I was going uphill about 70 km/h..

I'm working on the next AI Hud challenge at Deep Forest and happen to notice a problem that the AI cars have found with the Deep Forest track when its run in reverse:

Near the end of the track (going in the reverse direction) the Armco sticks out slightly and can catch the wayward AI out (especially wide-bodied supercars) like the Oullim Motors Spirra, seen here taking a wide-line thru the corner:

26339650191_3a871f0fdd_b.jpg

This brings the Spirra up-along-side the jutting Armco:

26132995490_57870a7fc4_b.jpg

And then some "stuck to the Armco" action occurs::eek: as the front of the Spirra gets stuck to the Armco and is swung around:

26405851635_37133e55c9_b.jpg

As you can imagine, this is not conducive to fast laps;)
:cheers:GTsail

I witnessed an Aston Martin hit the orange end section so hard it damaged every single panel on its body. I had to watch the replay to make sure I wasn't seeing things, and yup, it drove wide and hit it head on.

Other AI cars are taking some liberties with the Deep Forest track margins as well. Here's the Chevy Corvette Z06 running around one of the tunnel corners with all four wheels off the track:

26073215400_a68e1cf303_b.jpg

The Corvette spent a full second outside the track lines before getting back within the "approved" track limits:
25743338533_896d1545d1_b.jpg

It wasn't even trying to pass anyone, it was just taking a short-cut!

Crazy fun!

The AI does seem a lot more 'human' here. I actually like it.

Many of the AI cars have a problem with another jutting section of the Armco.

Here's a Subaru Impreza, who thinks he sees an opening to pass the Audi RS:

26339748041_7e203fd565_b.jpg

Only to be met with an immovable object:

26380032466_3305510ace_b.jpg

The closely following Toyota Supra arrives on the scene and looks for a way past:
26380050066_68d70cb3c3_b.jpg

But face to face meeting is assured:

26133119240_9647fc3eec_b.jpg

The view from the Subaru Impreza as bumper paint is exchanged:
25803218713_a15ce792eb_b.jpg

At this point, many hand gestures are being made, but thankfully not all are being recorded by the track officials:

26339797561_86e0e6f116_b.jpg

The Toyota Supra tries pushing against the passenger-side door as a means to encourage the clearing of the track:
25803237633_92079d80e2_b.jpg

When the 12th place blue Subaru Impreza arrives on the scene, the yellow Impreza begins to pull away but the Toyota Supra is still hogging the track:
25801181864_3654dbc913_b.jpg

The Toyota Supra is actually still backing up in this picture, even though the yellow Impreza has pulled away (you can see the "R" at the bottom of the picture which is from the Supra's instrument panel):

25803272303_636f455ac4_b.jpg

Crazy driving by the AI:eek:

I have now had to swing wide while going around this particular section of the Deep Forest track due to numerous AI pileups during my recent races as I work on the next challenge.:nervous:

:cheers:GTsail

@GTsail290 - great report and awesome pics! I have many of these incidents saved - and we have discussed the wild ( and therefore illogical and 'humanly fallible') moves GT6 AI make - almost a gravitional tug on all the particles in a field as we swing around the track; our speeds and activity influencing the speeds and activity of the AI.

There was another phenomenon that also came to light - that not everybody's AI seems to behave in the same way - for instance as was once reported that some players (try as they might) find it harder to get certain fields while for others they come up significantly more often.

Every bit of data helps as we study this AI and take that knowledge on to the next iteration - great work; I know this sort of report takes a lot of time and effort. 👍

The AI does seem a lot more 'human' here. I actually like it.

Hi axletramp!
Does the AI reflect the personality of the player? :D
I have scheduled a test soon (one more loose end to tie up before I schedule that meet) where I will be testing the AI on 3 different consoles using the game data of the particular players who own those consoles - 3 different players - in an effort to check whether the AI behaviour deviates significantly from player to player.

Look at this cheeky so-and-so in the Viper taking liberties with the track boundaries trying to pass me (in the Elise).
It didn't do him any good.

View attachment 536636

Who was in the Viper? I notice many players display the car names on their screens - but I usually run with the names of the AI - it's fun to recognise the cars myself. I remember tussles with that Viper back at Death Valley.

I didn't save the replay so I went to try to find him but he was nowhere to be seen. I must have reloaded 20 times before he showed up. I was starting to think he'd seen the picture and was too ashamed to show his face. I believe the culprit to be one P. Craft. Crafty by name...

When I'm driving I have a sparse display, no map or list, just instruments. I'm too easily distracted.

More AI troubles with the Armco:
The Chevy Corvette Z06 is cruising along in 3rd place:

The Chevy Corvette sees an opening to get past the 2nd place Aston Martin:

26307900466_33c8dee045_b.jpg

The jutting Armco brings the Corvette to an abrupt halt!
26333863785_d448d933ee_b.jpg

Yup! The Corvette has fully stuck its front bumper to the Armco:
26333872595_cae39e19eb_b.jpg

Well, why don't we rotate 180 degrees and check out the oncoming race cars:
25729021974_07ee98cb02_b.jpg

Ah good, here's GTsail coming along in his RUF BTR, should we hang out in the middle of the track?

26267673751_541e767308_b.jpg

No, lets stay right where we are and see if GTsail can get past:
26307967046_c5c2f082aa_b.jpg

GTsail just gets past my rear bumper, I bet he's glad I didn't engage reverse:

26267699671_7958d4685b_b.jpg

Up next is the 5th place SRT charger:
26308016596_bc140e0592_b.jpg

The SRT Charger gets cleanly past, but then the 6th place BMW M3 GTR arrives on the scene:
25731209583_6b1d11ea49_b.jpg

Can you guess the outcome?;):nervous:

Yup!
The BMW M3 GTR runs smack into the Armco!:ouch:

26333988595_92eb05e794_b.jpg

Up next is the 7th place Mercedes-Benz AMG:

26241583362_4900ec29fd_b.jpg

The Mercedes-Benz joins the party and runs smack into the sideways BMW M3 GTR:
26061131590_a50709a623_b.jpg

Finally, the original Chevy Corvette Z06 pulls away as the Mercedes and the BMW M3 engage in a nice smoking-tire duel:

26308061436_22deb97bd9_b.jpg

Up next is the 8th place TVR Cerbera Speed 6, who is just minding his business:
25731255353_825bb6a8d9_b.jpg

So the TVR Cerbera swings wide to get past the BMW:
26241622842_9d0f2e4a3b_b.jpg

The TVR Cerbera just makes it past as the 9th place BMW M3 CSL arrives on the scene:
25729186044_35d555959b_b.jpg

The BMW M3 CSL takes a middle line:
26061181720_0db5d676d5_b.jpg

And is able to get past, even if its speed over the track was substantially reduced:
26308109396_4fc4730463_b.jpg

Finally, everyone pulls away from the diabolical/vacuum like Armco and continues on with their races:
26334075495_172bfa2660_b.jpg

After the race, all the pit crews put on their painting gear because most cars need a re-paint to eliminate the multi-color streaks that everyone is sporting:D

Craft sounds about right. I think he was Canadian, too? I know there's a Canadian named Stone who is pretty vicious in a Corvette in this intermediate pack. The Intermediates have a wide range of cars to work with so we get all sorts of AI whose combination of driving skills matched to the particular car (and we are still unsure about particular tunes PD may be using) can provide for greater variety of racing styles.
When we did The French Revolutionist the AI ran into trouble like this, too, causing massive pile-ups just before the tunnel - which of course makes for some great racing in terms of handing getting through a pile-up.
Days of Thunder comes to mind - though in this instance us Cole Trickles don't have to barrel blindly through thick smoke hoping to find a line through the mess - at 170 MPH.

The RUF BTR is a beast!

If you can navigate past all the AI crashes at Deep Forest:eek:, the race is great fun! I've started working on my BTR tune for this and I have been making decent progress with extending my MOV margin. Here's my early results so far, but there is still plenty of room for improvement:

Now this is a fun one. Not quite as nerve-wracking as stock with comfort tyres and no aids, mind. I started off with a guesswork tune and did a few races, coming a cropper more often than not and winning by ten seconds or so. Thinking that I was going to need a tune by someone who knew what they were doing I found one that had good reviews. It had front ballast and a nose-down stance, I guess to make more stable. And so it was. I could do consistent tidy laps, but they were no faster than the messy laps with the unstable tune. So it was back to my tune and concentrating on keeping the wagging tail in check. I've never done a tuned RUF before and I'm pleased to find that you can't make it faster by tuning out its essential endearing characteristics.

On a wing and a prayer, I've found a little more pace with the Speedbird:

First stab at The Wheel Devil.
Not as much of a beast as I was expecting. Nice drive actually. I suspect @TRL_Andromeda is teasing us with his opening gambit on this one and a P1 is on the cards.

He definitely has mighty long sleeves, so one can never say what's tucked up them. Great challenge, though, and a helluva legitimate excuse to take the Diablo out. ;) P3 and I'll be happy, never mind slicing 1000ths at the top of the Board.

"Find the fastest AI" it says. It doesn't say you have to win the race. Either way Vazquez has the edge for now. In the second race I slowed down on the last lap to give them a bit of encouragement. I reckon they're going to need a smack to get them narked if they're going to break the 9 minute barrier.

Correct. What we have to find out is: "Does 'pushing' have a different effect than 'pulling'? And what effect does the choice of car have on the AI pace? Between this event and The Wheel Devil we should see some stats that will give us a pattern that might help us formulate even a shade of a theory.

Either way Vazquez has the edge for now. In the second race I slowed down on the last lap to give them a bit of encouragement. I reckon they're going to need a smack to get them narked if they're going to break the 9 minute barrier.

The TS030 is quite hyped as the go-to car. But what about the Zonda? And the R18TDI? Given the chance to compete by themselves who will be the fastest AI driver? And what would it take a player do to engineer such a situation? Only time will tell as the stats come in and the leaderboard develops a clear pattern between the two events.

OP has been updated with new leaderboard times up to this post.
