Having reflected a bit on this,

I’d ask a couple of questions:

When do people like to be overtaken? This seems to be a problem changing positions.

Then if ask how do people want it to happen vs what really happens?

The thing is it nuanced in a lot of ways but I think generally there is over sensitivity to it.
Well yeah no one likes to be overtaken but if we are talking when do we think someone has the right to overtake, for me if you've established any overlap on me, like even a bit, it is fair game and if you can execute the pass then i tip my hat. I am not a fan of moves from directly behind me under brakes unless you are right up my clacker, if you're on a different line then fair enough but this peek-a-boo thing in the race I showed is where i get a bit miffed.

In the example I showed, that sort of half a second plus gap, as the lead car I'd be watching my mirrors/radar to see if you are going to move to the inside. As we approach the corner though, I need to quickly look to the apex to make the corner. If in the time I move my eyes from the mirrors/radar to the apex, you've suddenly jumped right into my apex, then it's too late, I cannot respond as i've begun to turn in.

It's effectively an argument of when one should start taking a defensive line really.

This is a gem of a video by the amazing @Tidgney where he lets us know how incorrect or trivial the track limit penalties in Daily Race C (CGV) can be. It really ruins the racing for those who want to push hard every of those 10 laps. Check out this vid for a deeper understanding of what Tidgney is trying to elaborate:

This is a good talking point because for me I’ve have been racing differently of late, I’m trying super hard to get to A and stay there and maybe try to push on towards A+ and I’m doing that by trying to analyse my own races and lines to get faster, not just get a fast time.

On the topic of ppl overtaking, I don’t mind it if I’m being caught and the pass is clean, clumsy, barging, bumping I still can’t abide. Or wont dive in, I’m looking for catching and trying to force a mistake or putting myself into a position where I can cleanly pass, probably why I don’t make up many places but I feel by not diving in I’m reaping the benefits of the ppl around me knowing I’m there to race cleanly.

Check these videos, one where I just couldn’t pass this Porsche but was right on his tail throughout, lining myself up for a pass on the straight. Unfortunately last lap I slightly tapped him so I let off and the chance was gone.

Other video is why diving in is so wrong or why most ppl get it wrong so I steer well clear. The guy behind me eventually bumped me after a few laps and I couldn’t help but return the favour, so I’ve still a way to go red mist wise 😁

Interested to get your take as the resident alien in the group 😘

Yes, it’s also about what is worth defending when and also to what end.

The difference between being first and second is minor in the grand scheme of things. And then taking each other out speaks more about emotional intelligence than it does about racing discipline.

Nope not falling for this trap! 🤣

Decided a kebab later snooker now, the wife catching flies (snoring) and the child doing stuff the daily mail will tell us all is wrong/dangerous rather than race today or put any time in to it.

Also cracking work mate, did it feel lucky or can you get close to it a few laps in a row?

I actually made a few mistake doing it so I could have gone faster I think, sure 1 or 2 tenths escaped as it usually does at Catalunya.

I don’t think I’ve ever enjoyed here at Gr3, I have at gr4 but also the few days toying with different cars didn’t help either, the Porsche is just a joy to drive.

My weekend is complete already, sorry to bore but check this win I got, properly happy with it! 😁

Glad you had a nice day, don’t worry about the odd day using technology to parent, I brought my boys ps5s so we could get some peace at the weekends 😂 and what do they play on it? Roblox, which a zx81 could run! 🤣

Race C suited me this week. Because I can hardly keep my car completely straight as a controller (motion sensor) user, I often avoid using the full width of a track. A little bit too much to the side and a braking zone will be a crashing zone if I dip a tire on the grass under braking.

So because I avoid the most extremes of the track, i don't get a lot of time penalties, causing me to finish higher than the people around me who can drive quicker but get penalties. In 10 races this week I had 2 very bad ones were I got punted into oblivion. All the other races were top 5 finishes, and even a win.

I decided to set up another account to see how long it will take to get to A, and maybe eventually A+.
I've been doing Race B, and it's been nice seeing up to 11 different cars in a single race 😮

Progress for Max_Da_Dog has been good so far - a race or two away from B/S already, but the times are getting closer and the competition tighter.

Gotta say, Abu Dhabi and Canada aren't fun tracks to race or drive
I know I keep ranting about this but man, we were in dire need of new tracks and literally cannot think of two real tracks that are worse. They're just AWFUL, yabbi Dabbi has two decent corners, the rest is captain fiddles and off camber and awkward, it feels so forced.

How easy is it to set up another account?

Are you still at the top of C? I’ll look out for you and try and jump in your slip 😬

Anyone having a final end of the week blast at the dailies? I’ve followed my standard route of being abysmal at the start of the week as I learn the brand new tracks to ending the week hitting podiums and top 5 pretty consistently so going to make the most of tonight until I’m rubbish again tomorrow 😂

Hi,
It's pretty straightforward, just need to add a new account with a different email and username. You have to do all the menu books up to book 9 again though, for the multiplayer, and have to start with no cars.

I'm in to low B now. When in high C I met a B/D driver, who has about 3000 races and 500 wins. He was very dirty - will dig out a video

Officially the newest member of the B club 🙌🙌🙌💪💪💪💪 took me a while longer than I wanted but I’m finally there!!!!

Now to see how far down the grid I’m starting 😂😂😂 I’ve grown used to being P4 and above!!!

My DR has been about as stable as my emotions whilst racing since I started 5 weeks ago!!!!

Big thanks to all you guys for your advice on here and other posts! Hope to see some of you in the lobby

Ah ok. I saw a video from DG Luc Nodaro that said having a back up account to learn on new tracks and protect your DR was good practice to have so thought about it.

I’ve seen some funky things in C this week, this guy basically spent 9 laps of race C cutting the last chicane and across the grass on T1/T2 to smash into people. Was insane.

This is the line he took on lap 9 to take me out 😂

Managed to plunder another win in Spain, it’s been pretty grubby I have to say today, I think I was top B because starting around 8-10, finishing 10-12 because the fighting mid pack was brutal and totally unnecessary to be honest,

But a few low place finishes and I was starting p2, this other Porsche had me a good sec or more away for 4 laps but then he let me in!

Video of the last lap 😁

I’ve only done A this week and I really can’t complain it’s a very fun race and a very nice combo even if Daytona feels quite big for the car.

Appreciating that it’s a lot of mixed dr lobbies the results don’t yield as much as if I was in higher average lobbies but otherwise really nice week for the handful of races I have done.

Agreed, it was great fun. I only had races up until Thursday afternoon due to travelling but the car is really great fun to throw around and forgiving even in the occasional rough and tough circumstances.

Somehow Race A leaves me wanting more, nonetheless.

That’s a lovely graph this year!!!! Straight up 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌

Did one race at C and that's all I needed there tbh spent it driving at the back.

Two races at B, both ended up in 9th after so many people crashed in front of me. Couldn't get my act together but that's my fault for playing Motorfest for the last couple of weeks.

Catalunya has been been a joy to drive this week, not one of my favourites by any stretch but my racing evolved over the week and mostly spent the week racing hard, fair and a couple of wins to cap it off and got into the 41s.

I think next week, race B with that infield reverse is where I’ll plant myself, if it’s gr4 and hopefully an Audi or something else than a G70 it’ll be fun

NSX ;)

Obviously the G70 sadly but the NSX takes a bit of practice but the gearing is good, which mean the swift or GTR might be good as well.

Late week purely guessing, the NSX or the Citroen with the G70 either dominating or up there.

Oh no, you mentioned the Citroen, I had blanked that out of my mind, the ugly heathen! I’ll certainly be happy racing the G70 if that Citroen is there 😁

But good shout on the NSX, that’s a cool car, hard to drive though
