Just make sure you don’t add the Maltese guy ;)

Haha ok I’ll keep an eye out!

It’s good to have you guys on there! A nice benchmark and gives me something to aim for!!!

I don’t think I can squeeze out anymore than my 1.14.6xx but will keep trying.

Had a good little evening tonight! With a win and a couple of podiums!

Highest I’ve been so far in b, hopefully head into the 20’s in the next week or so!

Finally a cleaner race in race C. It is so hectic to me. Quit 2 times this week because of absolute chaos. Just entered a race in order to 'fix' my low S SR bar, didn't mind the finishing position. I started P6, and finished P5.

I was P2 at the pitstops, but at least 2 or 3 people did the no stop strategy and I wasn't quick enough to catch them again, so well done by them! And my SR bar is back to full S, so mission accomplished. It also felt good to be able to come within 4 tenths of my quali time (little bit of slipstream help) on race pace.

Here is my lap in VR at BMB 1:13.690 (ghost is Stokies)

This is a pretty cool watch, is that the only view you can use in VR? The windows on the Citroen are soooo tiny!!!! bet it feels amazing though!!!

Argh, building this blasted rig is actually going to be the death of me 🤬🤬🤬
haha assuming the language is not very PG????? I was raging in the 4 hours it took me to put mine together

It’s just very fiddly, got this universal adjustable seat rail which is loaded with grease and I can’t move it cos my hands keep slipping! The damn Alan key nuts are in strange places which the Alan key can’t reach, some missing bolts, I was for 5 hours doing last night, just need to fit the wheel and peddles to it.

Then I’m quitting GT7 for good 🤣😂

(And breathe) 🧘

You’re on the home straight!!!!! Just picture those pole positions from the comfort of your new rig 🙌🙌🙌

Big advantage buying used, all the hard work was done! I was lucky to find one owned by a young woman, must have weighed 100 lbs soaking wet so it wasn't beat up by some 400 lb dude.

When I got my Oplite nitro kart, it was like an Ikea's forniture; built without reading the user manual. 🤣

Edit: To fit in my new T598 was a nightmare btw...

Scary thing here is I don't really see much different to what I am doing but you're a second clear of me. You make a few small changes with gears but fundamentally you just carry more apex speed.
I agree, it’s mostly subtle things that hurt the lap time I’ve found here. The other thing with such a short lap and high speed corners clawing time back is hard because the momentum is lost and that just compounds.

Probably your braking too late, so you're slower mid corner compromising the exit. Load your lap vs someone's topping the leaderbord in the datalogger. Check last video from DG Luc Nodaro also. I'm sure you'll find interesting.

Saw that video. Was trying to implement it but found I was just over slowing the car. It’s actually quite tricky to brake earlier but not quite as full.

What’s everyone’s thoughts on the circuit experiences to get better?

I’ve never done one yet? With Suzuka coming next week shall I do the circuit experience or is time trialing in the exact car better?

Circuit experiences, as well as licenses, are always a good idea. You are given guidance and a demonstration with a ghost to follow, as well as specific targets. It maybe the race has a different class of car to the CE, this is where time trials come in handy - to adapt what you have learnt in CE to the class of car for the race.

I love them and use them all the time

CEs are actually really good for muscle memory — being able to repeat a single sector back to back is often more useful than running full laps when you’re trying to dial timing and feel especially with unfamiliar or tricky sequences

Im taking this weeks daily C as an accelerated course for tyre saving, a thing that I wasnt very good at.
And I think I can say Im improving a lot on that matter.

On the following race only P2 and I were doing the no pit strat.
We had a spectacular photo finish result (+0.014!) and we made a significative gap over the people pitting

The lobby of that race wasnt the better for reference because of the DR differences on the grid.
So I started to search for streamers videos to see what the times are on more tougher lobbies

Kie is doing 23:43.7 on his video tutorial for this race. He doesnt save tyres and pits in the middle of the race to change.
Im doing 23:44.5 staying out and I still consider myself not very good saving tyres (Im seeing people in top split doing 23:35s for example).
If I try to push at my limits and pit to take tyres, I cant go down from 23:48, so for me staying out is working better (a thing I wouldnt imagine it could be possible at the start of the week)

It really didn’t float my boat C this week, combination of track (Daytona) fatigue and life business meant I could realistically only focus on one.

Fair play mate you are smashing it there!

Separate topic mods but please merge if you think it’s needed

Right now on to what the actual “I don’t know and can’t swear is this, and 5 swear word seconds, 5!”

This is ridiculous, here is 13 seconds that won’t make sense

Weird one mate, classic case of turn in on someone so the crash was his to suffer from, harsh pen man

There is a couple of things there:

If you’ve ever tried VR you’ll appreciate it better just spatially the lap time is just a lap time and can be done in any view.

To answer the question:

You only have cockpit view but it’s not the same as you see in the game on a TV.

I will try to explain, in VR it’s like the real world, you have this fake but believable sense of volume space, for example I can look down at my feet or admire the passenger/rear seats, they don’t exist but the freedom to look lets me see them.

In racing or lapping, you can’t see in 2d what I see and feel in VR which is depth, I can see the end of my bonnet consistently, I know instinctively how wide the car is just by “being in it”

It’s not for everyone but I’d definitely give VR a try if you can, AC is very good with it if not punishing!

Oh yeah that looks mega!!!!!

Had some races? How’s it feeling? Looks comfy!

Yeah cheers mate, it’s solid as a rock so sorted from that front, steering wheel pointing a little downwards, so need to sort that, probably put something on the wrong way round 🤣

But getting into some racing now and feels good I have to say 👊
