I had a bash today at Daily Race C only as RBR didn't seem interesting but I will try the Lambo race another time. So chugged in with the Ford GT with mixed results, alot of divebombing and crashes on turn 1 expected, but the penalties for barrie collision being given even though the person behind me pushed me into the wall oh joy. 3rd race with the R8 LMS 19 EVO, I put some more practice time in beforehand and managed a quick 2:01 as seen below in the pics. A decent time for me to start in 8th on the grid, in a fairly high B lobby. Some quick buggers in here and I managed to after some jostling and bashing all over, recover to 9th. There is no way you have a clean race in this one, the BARRY R's are out to get ya lol.

I've yet to have CRB on C. About to try the Jaguar out wish me luck, if people keep annoying me, I'll get the Skyline Silhouette out and cause a traffic jam.

I’m no programmer but this seems a very easy way for them to introduce a bit of variety.
I do wonder how long it takes them to set up the daily races, and how much maintenance they need, versus their income from ps plus/new game sales etc (disclaimer: I don’t know the PD or games industry business model AT ALL 🤣). Maybe they are trying to minimise costs at this point in the game’s life cycle. Even a few months ago they seemed to be putting more effort in.
Every week I dread seeing how depressed @Tidgney is at the week’s offering 😢
😂😂 poor Tidgney.

I guess if the numbers stay the same then if it’s not broke don’t fix it must be their mindset. You don’t know if they even get the feedback that people aren’t happy.

All they see if tens of thousands of people each week racing eh dailies they stick out on autopilot so they must just assume it’s great?

Did the Skyline race after, predictably got knocked to the back and tried racing against an Alfa. Turns out the art of slamming the brakes on under a yellow flag so the car behind can get a penalty is still alive. Haven't seen that in a while.

Another fantastic race of 1x 1x racing in the same cars, sweet! Perhaps they could remove my limbs and potentially eyes to maximise my enjoyment.
“As seasoned veterans of this game these are underwhelming”

Mate, the reason disappointment exists is expectation, you know this. We know PD so expectations are not something I have anymore.

I don't expect anything more - but I'll always be disappointed because I love the franchise. It's a shame to see the online go this way when you've been playing it for 20 years and it used to be so much more. It's disappointing to see them essentially have given up and thrown in the towel on something that used to show as much love put into it as the car models, the music, the atmosphere.
They've been chasing online racing since Gran Turismo 3, and were at the forefront of so much of that on the PS3. They're behind everyone now. Not a competitor out there that does it worse.

You don't see any of that love anymore, so I'll always be disappointed in how it turned out. Hard not to be.

We don’t disagree, I got my PS1 out of the eves and put it on my projector and did 6 hours on the weekend.

The frustration for me is they really started to go that route, sport as the filler title, but not only have they backtracked they’ve had TM, Fanatec, Moza as partners like almost whimsically.

I’m disappointed as much as you. But I can’t live in disappointment, I can’t live in just driving so that’s what I do, and moan about it, but do it.

Yeah I mean don't get me wrong, I just don't engage with that side of the game much any more, as you've probably seen. I get my sim-racing fix on iRacing or AMS2, the former of which somehow gives you more production car variety in online racing than Gran Turismo does now.
But I check in from time to time and it's just a bummer to see nothing has changed. They'll drop an interesting race in once every 3 months, if we're lucky, and dash it away just as quick. I'll have a moan then or a comment on a Discord when a new week drops but they don't make it worth my time to think about it any more than that.

Hopefully I don't always look bored 😂 🙈 . This week I did look very bored (I didn't even realise, someone in Discord mentioned it so had to watch myself) on Redbull Ring.. mainly because it is redbull ring in underpowered group 4 cars so they just stick like glue. If you put the Mazda MX5 TC in there instead of Gr4 I'd have more fun because its a bit more lively and more to think about.

Fortunately, and this is one of the reasons I don't do this full time, because I like to enjoy what I do professionally. Fortunately video editing I do enjoy as well otherwise I wouldn't be racing them at all.

One of those "ones that got away" races. I can sounds like a broken record sometimes saying a race can be tough but this was one of them. I honestly cried in anguish on the last straight. However looking back I'm quite proud of being in the thick of it, nobody was out to ruin anyone else's race and just wanted to go for it, and as such I think this one of the best.

Onto the topic at hand, decided to give the G70 a whirl and instantly went 3 tenths faster than my Atenza QT time. I just do not get along with the Atenza at all for some reason. Only issue with the G70 is it doesn't like the sausage kerbs and gets really unsettled so you get a bit burnt in the hustle and bustle of close racing at RBR.

Racing in close quarters last night with both cars, seems I am inherently VERY quick through T1 if i get it right, I gain on pretty any DRB driver there. However, I am losing out pretty consistently through the last left hander. I tried both wider and narrower lines but either lose too much time on entry or on exit, cannot find the right balance.

Thanks to the awesome TyrannoCyrusRex (Youtube) who always like myself ventures into races using antimeta cars. This time for Race C he suggested Mazda RX-Vision. Saw his lap guide & reasoning as to why he believes this car is good in the antimeta vid (posted below) & I tried the car myself this morning for the first time ever.

Wow....what a car. I was able to win my first race with this car & finish in 3rd after buying this car immediately after the victory. Cyrus was right....this car has a crazy top end speed. A little slow with initial acceleration but great cornering ability & feels glued to the track. I'll be racing with the Mazda for the next 4 days in Race C till Monday noon when GV takes its place with Gr.4.

The best thing about Cyrus's recommendations is that I've ended up trying & then loving the cars he suggested. SUch as this Mazda here, WRX (Gr.4) at CGV, C7 at Daytona etc. All these cars I hadn't driven even once till he recommended them & boy oh boy, it was great.

Interesting! Looks like half hour qualifying in the G70 is in my near future to see if I can find the same secret sauce.

Is the gearing the same?

Mostly, it can handle a little more shifting down. You can brake a touch later and turn in a bit easier, not as fast in a straight line though and hates sausage kerbs that the Mazda just glides over.

I did some qualifying laps for Daily Race A today, and I love the way the Murcielago drives - though I'm unsure of what it is that I like so much about it. I think one factor is that it's AWD so it accelerates nicely, yet I never feel like I'm understeering that badly when I push it through a corner.

Just had to share this quick video of Race A. I was in my 2nd race and tbh just learning the track etc and drive a dream car in VR. The 3 guys ahead had been battling for the whole lap and I drove watching. Then a gap opened and decided to pass, ooooops what an error! 😳.
Amazingly, the blue car after deliberately knocking me off avoided a penalty but I received 1 for track limits 🤣🤣🤣🤣. What a joke 🤡, oh how I laughed 🙄

I've seen that guy behaving to that form plenty of times. They've got a short fuse, and I'm convinced they've missed a letter off their username.

but my issue is with the franchise tourists who literally just play this game for the daily races,
Mate, two things I'd like to point out if I may...

1. The average age on this thread would point to a lot of more mature gamers who've probably experienced the entire lifespan of the series. Some have been here from day one, some arrived later, but we all started somewhere.

2. This is a 1,700-page thread with a lot of long-term regular contributors, so "tourists" feels a little unfair.

On a personal note, I've been with the series since the original GT on PS1. I've got the platinum trophy, 100% Circuit Experiences and all gold licences, spent years tuning everything from everyday hatchbacks to all manner of JDM cars inspired by my monthly Max Power cover car aspirations, and remember leaving my console running all day to finish endurance races while I was at school. Also, B spec Bob was somebody I’ll always remember quite fondly.

These days I race almost exclusively in VR because, after exploring pretty much every corner of Gran Turismo over the years, Sport Mode offers something the rest of the game doesn't: controlled variety with variable difficulty every race.

Edit: corrected the page count.

Going against the general wind on this one but Fuji Gr3 is one of the better GR3 combos IMHO
Your seal of approval is all I need!! Race B it is for me next week??

Is it a bit of a wreck fest usually or a bit calmer?
