GT7 needs much better car list!

Better is such a vague term...Better to who? People want different things...Unless you think the GT6 car list is 100% perfect than everyone thinks GT7 needs a "better" car list.
I'd say better to everyone that is interested in driving some more current cars, which is just about everyone I would guess. PD has had an obvious lack of interest in keeping the so called "car encyclopedia" anything close to up to date, preferring to release imaginary cars and those favoured by major manufacturers it seems.

A well-curated list would cater to those people wanting different things. It'd be relevant in a way a huge chunk of GT6's list isn't. Yeah, GT6 has the 90's JDM market sewn up pretty tightly, but so many other categories of automobile history are, to put it politely, lacking. Picking the right cars to bring up to current-gen standards (yes, I'm still operating under the hope PD realizes existing Standards are an utter dead-end on PS4) could mean a lineup of 500 or so cars with just as much variety on display as GT6 currently offers, and a higher percentage of cars that would be used regularly by more players.

Will someone, somewhere, be unsatisfied by the final selection? Of course, but that both a) already happens, and b) is a lousy reason to refuse to change.

Honestly, I think PD is getting better at selecting cars to add to the series. I mean, there were a lot of cars added to GT6 at launch that I thought were good choices personally (Boss 302 Mustang, Ford GT40, Mclaren F1 GTR, Diablo GT, & etc). Though, I do think PD still needs to learn to also update areas that haven't been update in a while such as the DTM Cars and some car makes such as Holden & Ginetta.

I think for the GT series to have its car selection improve though will definitely require outsourcing. The only problem I see with that is that PD seems to be too stubborn to get help outside their office. T_T

I'd like it like GT4

In Australia the average drive down the road is as listed bellow, very rarely do you see supercars, trackcars or sportscars.

Small Cars, Example: Ford fiestas, Honda civics, Suzuki Swifts (Not Sports)
Med Cars, Example: Holden Cuze, Mitsubishi lancer (Not evo), Toyota Corolla
Large Cars, Example: Holden Commodores, Ford Falcons, Toyota Camrys, Mitsubishi Verada/Magna
Utes & 4x4's, Examples: Toyota Hilux, Holden or Ford Ute, Mitsubishi Tritons, Toyota Landcruiser

Lots of Commodores, Falcons, Camrys & Hilux's

Me too. But I think that we should have Legendary cars, New Cars, Used Cars and the One Make Cups like GT4 & 2.

For me, I would like to have every single car on the game. Not joking! I'm serious!

Check above post, it has New as cars generally past 2000, used as cars before 2000, and legendary as classic, race, tuned and concept cars. It will be the final list for me and I will update it daily, based on GT6 cars

I can help you with the list, if you want.

I partly blame Kaz's tastes in automobiles for the poor car list. In various interviews he has shown his preferences towards Miatas/MX-5s/Eunoses/Roadsters (see what I did there?) and Skylines so we are saddled with nearly 100 of those.
Balance being skewed towards Japanese cars are actually no surprise - PDI is a Japanese company, so a little patriotic sentiment wouldn't go amiss. But this Japan-centric car list is actually laughable - some of Japanese cars/models don't even get attention in GT games while western games like Forza offered them.
So, as I said earlier PDI needs to change who ever chooses the cars. And Kaz needs to know that not everyone shares his taste in automobiles. Hell, even I can do a better job of coming up with more comprehensive, better thought-out car list than PDI has done so far.

I think that as of GT5 and GT6 (Especially GT6) PD has begun to vary the selection of new cars quite a bit. They should continue this notion in my opinion.

Here's an obvious legendary car:

Suzuki V6 Escudo Pikes Peaks Special '98
You think I would put a 900HP rally car as a Used Car?

I can help you with the list, if you want.
I was thinking of turning the post into a spreadsheet, then you could edit it if you see anything out of place, I'll get to work on it now.

The spread sheet is still WIP and currently only has up to BMW completed, I might add cars that should be added to GT7 at the very bottom, once GT6's cars are added in.

I cant upload it for some reason so I'll show you the format

The spread sheet is still WIP and currently only has up to BMW completed, I might add cars that should be added to GT7 at the very bottom, once GT6's cars are added in.

I cant upload it for some reason so I'll show you the format

Make Model Year Power PP Weight Drivetrain Dealer

You can always use Google Docs and just put up a link.

I like this NEW/USED/LEGENDARY thing...
I would make it like this...
NEW... Cars from 2001 to 2015
USED... cars from 1981 to 2000
LEGENDARY... Cars before 1981 and race cars

Or we could do a 3rd category called HISTORICAL that includes cars before 1981 and RACERS that includes all the racing cars regardless of the year

In BMW case it would be...

New:
120d '04
120i '04
135i Coupe '07
330i '05
M3 '04
M3 CSL '03
M3 Coupe '07
M3 GTR '03
M4 Coupe
M5 '08
Z4 '03
Z4 M Coupe '08
Z8 '01
Concept 1 Series Tii '07
M4 M Performance Edition
Vision GT

Used:
M Coupe '98

Historicals:
2002 Turbo '73
507 '57

Racing:
320i Touring Car '03
E92 M3 (BMW Motorsport) '10
M3 GT (BMW Motorsport) '11
M3 GT2 Base Model '11
M3 GTR Race Car '01
McLaren F1 GTR Race Car '97
V12 LMR '99
Z4 GT3 '11

The problems would be that lot of prototypes and VGT... I don't know where to put them... maybe in a different 5th category???

My take on used cars is simple

Make them random copies of new cars, but at a reduced price because they have alot of miles, are colored randomly, need an engine rebuild, etc.

That way if you want any car brand new, you can get it. If you want a car used at a reduced price, you might be able to get it if the dealership has a 'used' model of a 'new' car at the time.

So the Ford dealership might have a used Ford GT for 33% less credits. It might stay there for 3 game days or 30 game days until it's 'sold'.

It's not a bad idea but you would have a dealer with a brand new Ferrari Dino if 1971 and a used xars dealer with a used Ferrari 430 of 2008...

Realistic, if they implement damages the percentage can grow, keeping a count of how many times the car broke or how many incidents it had (like in the first grid)

I think that as of GT5 and GT6 (Especially GT6) PD has begun to vary the selection of new cars quite a bit. They should continue this notion in my opinion.

Agreed, they still take too much time so really modern cars are still a bit lacking, get those and add the top requested cars from the GTP list then we're set, GT7 will nail the car and track list imo (if they remove standards), so I have no worries there.

In Australia the average drive down the road is as listed bellow, very rarely do you see supercars, trackcars or sportscars.

Small Cars, Example: Ford fiestas, Honda civics, Suzuki Swifts (Not Sports)
Med Cars, Example: Holden Cuze, Mitsubishi lancer (Not evo), Toyota Corolla
Large Cars, Example: Holden Commodores, Ford Falcons, Toyota Camrys, Mitsubishi Verada/Magna
Utes & 4x4's, Examples: Toyota Hilux, Holden or Ford Ute, Mitsubishi Tritons, Toyota Landcruiser

Lots of Commodores, Falcons, Camrys & Hilux's

Those examples are spot on.

Small Cars: I'll add Ford Festiva, Ford Fiesta, Hyundai Getz(car of choice in Newcastle) with frangipani stickers, seat covers and floor mats. Lavender Mitsubishi Mirages with bad tint. 1984 Toyota Corolla (sedan and wagon) with bald tyres.
Med Cars: 1983 Toyota Corona (sedan and wagon), Toyota Cressida
Large Cars: 1982 Mazda 929, XA/XB/XC Fairmont, Ford LTD(Aussie model)

To me standards can stay if, big if really, the only thing "standard" would be the interiors, but the exterior appearance is modernized (like happened to some rufs)

It was more than just some rufs, quite a lot of cars got the treatment.

i still think that even if reworked the lack of interiors is a bad thing in a game that call itself "real driving simulator"...
So a better car list would be also a list of cars without models from 10 years ago...
