After a lot of attempts (i'm stubborn, haha), managed to get into the 30:7, goal completed! :)
Top 15, happy with it!

Decided that this would be Spa week, so I don't have to think about doing Spa again after this.

Starting off with the Mclaren, figuring start slow and work up to the faster Gr3. This thing has a very lazy turn in, you really have to start turning well before you might expect. Fortunately, a lot of the usually tricky corners at Spa are easily flat in a Gr4, so missing an apex at Eau Rouge/Raidillon or Blanchimont isn't the end of a lap.

This lap is far from optimum, in later laps I was almost 3 tenths up through S2, but threw it all away at the end of S2/start of S3 and couldn't find that pace again. 158th is decent enough in such a competitive category, so I'll leave this one here.

Tonight, I will tackle the Merc at Spa and see how we go there. I'm expecting that to be even more competitive, so the aim is to be top 500.

I also have the DB11 at Interlagos to do, but will save that for closer to the end of the trial.

Hi everyone. Here is what I have been able to manage. I'm on the controller. L2, R2 - Brake, Throttle. Analog steering. X, gear up, Square, gear down.

I've also done the new T.T with the McLaren. Actually enjoyed that one, did several multiple laps, until I got the flow of it, and managed a personal good lap time.
Will post that later. 🍻

I think I could go a little further here, maybe half a tenth. It’s a long lap for Gr4s that rewards early throttle and aggression, also any hesitation on La Source is punished immensely due to slower acceleration in this group. Gotta maintain that apex speed at all costs 💪

I‘d say S1 is where you can easily gain another tenth or even more. Have you tried starting a fast lap with a wide entry? I would kill for your S3 times however. So consistent as well!

Thank you for the suggestion and S3 compliments; come to think of it, I’ve not tried the wide run-up. I’ll do so next time!

One session and done, can’t really be bothered to go again. Pretty okay combo once you got the almost two tonne truck under control. I unfortunately messed up the final corner and threw away two tenths, apart from that a really solid lap. So that’s... satisfying and frustrating knowing a .1 was up for grabs. Yeah, oh well. Gotta get rid of the two boring Spa ones shortly as well. At least we have a cool daily A this week so some delivery on that end at least. :)

Tired Over It GIF

That's it, no more Spa for the rest of the year, I'm over it.

Couldn't quite get my goal of top 500, there was certainly a .7 in there somewhere but I couldn't hook it up, there was always an apex bollard waiting to ruin it for me.

At least I retain my mental sanity (barely) with the knowledge I don't have to do any more laps here.

Despite @NAXEHT probably thinking these are the absolute perfect tires for this car, the Sports Mediums really make this Aston absolute garbage.

The lack of brakes doesn't help, either.

With some tips from @PowerJunkie , I finally dipped into the 39s with a 1:39.932...but with an absolutely terrible S1...but apparently a hellacious S2, and an optimum of .642.

But another 12 laps after my best gave me nothing worthwhile - I could gain some to a lot of time in S1 and at the end of S3, but the sheer lack of grip in that boat would just wipe away all of that in the middle.

Given all the yelling that has probably kept waking my wife up, I'm not really sure I have any motivation to go further with this trash combo - it's not worth it. I still need to better the AMG one at Spa before it ends a few days later.

Glad it helped!
I opened that TT today to try to get a better lap, didn't even click start and said "Nope! Not today Satan! " and then closed it and went to daily race B. 🏁 I did however go back to Spa for a few laps in the 650. No improvement and lots of time to find on the track. I have it figured out until the left to go down the mountain. Speaker's Corner and Pouhon are killing me. I feel like I have S3 covered as well.

Yeah, I really should not go at it again today, but having so much clear time left in the lap really bothers me.

The fact I was able to get that lap with a horrific S1 of almost .500 made it so, so much harder to match the rest of the lap on one where I actually would manage a .2xx S1...but on the same note, sometimes that gets in your head and you need a full reset.

I guess I'll see tonight. I'm mowing the lawn today (95 and sunny out, with wildfire smoke starting to work its way here), which oddly seems to help me in TTs.

"The lack of brakes doesn't help, either."

The car weighs over 1700 kilos. It's got brakes, it's just heavy.

Not bad for a single session.

Certainly left more time on the table, but it was 2am and I was too tired to continue going.

Overall a bit of a sloppy lap, quite a few errors and having to correct wheel spin on corner exits. Went too deep into T1 which compromised the rest of the Senna S, and then again into the T9 hairpin which really cost me time through T10 as well.
Optimum was a .485 but I could almost certainly bring that down as well with some extra laps.

My biggest problem with this car though, was how squirmy it would get under heavy braking into the Senna S and T4. It is really reactive to all the bumps and deviations and would send it shuffling around if you weren't braking in a perfectly straight line.

Guess I will have a bit of a break from time trials now since I've done enough of the Spa trials.

That aged well.

1:39.748 tonight with an optimum of 0.625.

Car seemed wholly more cooperative this session. Or, perhaps, it was the magic of the wobbly lawn-mowing legs...and possibly the heavy scent of wildfire smoke I can chew in the air (even indoors). I did a lot less yelling, because it did a lot less stupid ****.

Watching the replay, there are so many times I almost lost the car during that lap haha.

Following the advice of @crome and a few others I managed to work the 650S down to a .088. I may give this another few sessions, if I can lock-in earlier in the day (as opposed to grinding on this TT at night after 9-hr work) I might be able to do better. I’m a morning person in general… not as much as our friend @Gomario JSP but I’m still better in the AM than in the evening 😂
