To my knowledge, yes. Taking Love Fist from one place to another. That was a cracker of a mission.

While I disagree with Famine on GTA:SA (I liked the big map, I liked the extraneous crap, and last few times I've played it I seem to have spent remarkably little time having to eat burgers - I think it's more of an issue before you're fully built-up, able to swim etc), he's spot-on with GTA4.

My main issues with 4 were:

  • Brown. BROWN = REALISM these days and it got boring very quickly in 4. It is, after all, a game that doesn't take itself too seriously. So over-use of BROWN = REALISM and ridiculously dark spaces seemed a bit much.
  • Friends. I have real-life ones, I don't need to waste my actual real life making friends in a video game. This can also be applied to GTA:SA's girlfriends.
  • Vast, lovely city... most of which was unexplorable. Rockstar made a huge deal about going into buildings in 4 but there weren't that many... and even when you did, there wasn't much you could do inside.
  • Not enough crazy stuff to do. It's like they took all the fun stuff out of SA - no base jumping, no running over stuff in tanks, no stealing combine harvesters and mincing pedestrians...

Best thing about GTA4 was the swing glitch, and that wasn't even meant to be there.

I'd be happy with GTAV if Rockstar just got rid of the tedious stuff and kept it at that. It already looks like there's less BROWN involved, which is a good start. But please, PLEASE: No more making friends.

Yeah, I wasn't a massive fan of the brown hue but I suppose it was done because of the environment, what with it being set in a large city with lots of tall buildings and train overpasses, as well as an industrial area (Alderney I think?) which blocked lot's of direct sunlight.
Where as V is set in a city with not many obstructions to sunlight as there are few high-rises, as well as less pollution due to the large open rural areas.
This can only be a good thing for me as I tend to find colourful games more enjoyable to play.

Nice! The dog will be customisable.
Hopefully we get a couple different breeds to pick from. Dalmatian would be so awesome! Kinda reminds me of our ability to getting a dog in Sims, Fable, Fallout 3, and Skyrim.
This really caught my eye:
So, it's possible to kill it ?
Almost guaranteed that dog is going to die one way or another. I called that a LONG time ago. Its Rockstar. Besides, I am sure we can just buy another dog if it dies.

They need to release the mp and co-op info so I can leave this thread. Hearing way more than I want to hear.

Possibly, but in my opinion I think the colors, while dull, fit with the theme of the story.

Nice to see GTA V brightening up a bit, though.

I really hope that doesn't mean "looking after" your dog is the new friends calling you. I don't want a tamagotchi in a GTA game.

TBOGT was very colorful. They brought a lot of life to GTA4 with that DLC. In fact that's when they FINALLY gave us a parachute and golf and a few other features that should have been in the game from the start.

Yeah, it wouldn't be a surprise if it happened.

Anyway, I found this article on GTAV.net:

Recently, Rockstar North President Leslie Benzies conducted an interview with the French Gaming website Jeuxactu. Now today, thanks to Offical Xbox Magazine, we have some English snippits of the interview!

We want to surprise people with very intense missions from the start. The pace of the game is much faster than any of its predecessors. From the beginning, we want to show off the new game mechanics while creating intense, action-packed gameplay, to capture the player's attention immediately.

Unlike previous GTA's where main characters such as CJ from San Andreas or Niko were newcomers to the city, Michael, Franklin, and Trevor are not. They already have contacts, they are integrated with the world and lead a busy life - these characteristics should give players a sense of immediate and total immersion. That said, all three main characters won't be playable from the start. We want to give the player the opportunity to get to know the three characters individually, and explore the world as each of them, and it would not have been possible if all three had been available from the start.

Even though I expected all characters to be playable from the start, I guess it's okay.

Not having control of all characters from the beginning is perfectly fine with me. There is already going to be an overwhelming amount of activities to start with.

I think this is quite likely, as in either the gameplay trailer or a screenshot there is a pet shop. It will be interesting where Rockstar take the use of a dog, I wonder if it will have some sort of effect on the storyline?

Pet shop can be seen to the left of the truck at 0:30, it's called ARK.👍

I hate to admit it, but I'd just let it die and not worry about it for the rest of the game. Then when the story is almost complete I'm sure I'll be like, "didn't I have a dog at one point? I wonder what happened with that", just like I ignored all the "friends" except Roman in GTA IV until their meters were so low that they stopped calling. Solutions man, problems have solutions :trouble:.

I will just bring out the jet fighter or tank, then smear that pooch all over the pavement. It's one thing having to go bowling inbetween every mission, but having to feed a pet will make a dog's dinner out of this game.

I just see it now, you're cruising around having fun and you get a text from your wife/gf.

"Did you feed Geoff today?"
"Hey, Geoff needs feeding"
"Nobody fed Geoff yesterday, maybe you should go do it now?"
"Geoff is sick, can you take him to the vets?"
"Geoff needs taking for a walk, can you do it?"
"Geoff has been captured by the evil guys you're fighting, can you go get him?"

Geoff died. Game Over.

I really hope it won't be like that.

Or my favorite, "Geoff crapped in the house this morning and I didn't have time to clean it up. Can you take care of it when you get home?"

Followed by a QTE poop pickup minigame.

Best reply I have seen in a long time. 👍

Yes it sounds even worse than that or eating to stay alive. :yuck:

Famine made some excellent points earlier, although I think he was a little harsh on some of them, on purpose too I bet. :sly:

While I have enjoyed all the GTA games I've played so far but there is no doubt they could and should have been way better and that the more recent they are the more the unnecessary filler has taken over the game somewhat.

I was hoping this would be different this time but some of things I've seen and read have me a little worried about GTAV, as much as I'm looking forward to it at the same time. :indiff::nervous::)

It was revealed early on in a way as Michael doesn't meet Franklin til' a couple missions in when Michael is on a repo.

LOL, I think ya'll are looking far too into it. I'm pretty sure it means if the dog is out with you & you stray too far away from him, he'll disappear.

The pet shop, tmk, doesn't actually confirm anything about buying dogs, either. Only that Chop can give be "customized".

Yes finally a GTA game that features dog customization. :dunce:
Give your dog some shiny new rims a spoiler for downforce and a NOS kit so it can go super fast without going into orbit. :dopey:

Seriously though how deep can the customization be? A few different collars and a few different coats? Maybe we can armour plate him like the cars.

EDIT: Happy now Jahgee? :)

Fable 3 has dog customization. You can even pick the breed of dog. Some of the Sims games have dog customization too.

We have seen the dog running around in some of the trailers so I wonder if we are able to bring him with (if it is a male dog. We might be able to pick the gender). Maybe even bring him into some of the battles like an attack dog? Which would also be similar to Fallout 3 and Fable. Maybe if the dog dies we can get it back from a veterinarian. Or as we mentioned, just buy another one.

Maybe the dogs will work like vehicles in V. Vehicles that are lost will turn up at the police impound lot, so lost dogs will turn up at the pound? 💡
