I don't know. Online video yes, is going to make gameplay look less superior to actual gameplay most of the time. And I do think most of those pictures are quite...... ambitious, for the PS3. However, I will say, after playing some GTA IV this afternoon, that I'm still impressed by that gameplay, and that game is how many years old now? So yeah, I'm very hopeful actual textures in the game are as good as those pictures. I'll remain optimistic on that!

I created an account solely for watching that trailer (and for other upcoming games, just in case), and it absolutely blew (Aha get it?) my mind. It has all of the other GTAs in one game; The customization, golfing, and possibly biking from GTA SA, a character from GTA VC, parachuting from GTA SA and IV, etc. And the activities! Golfing is new I believe. I am very pleased on how good R* is doing with a game that is going to stay on the PS3 according to my sources. And to put the cherry on top, we are getting multiplayer gameplay! I absolutely went nuts when I saw an airplane at the end of the trailer. I had a blast flying them around in the GTA SA days. This will probably be my favorite game of the year, since CoD is turning away from their fans and not really listening to us, but the "pro players". GTA had included just about everything we asked for, and not only that, but they put even more in. 👍 to R*. I would buy all of the guys/gals a beer if I could, but I can't go to the UK, unfortunately :(.

Err, whoever you saw that you think was from VC wasn't. Rockstar already said this is a different universe. The closest you'll get to old characters is in multiplayer.

And golfing was in GTA IV.

Golfing to an extent was in VCS too I beleive. Might have been able to play in SA too though I forget. It was more or less standing on the ground and hitting a ball to different holes in the same position though.,

I don't remember actually golfing in VC or SA. A Golf Kart and Golf Club yes but i have no memory of actually golfing. Did i miss somethig while playing the story?

I think the only time playing golf has featured in the GTA series is VCS and TBOGT.

Wow I've seen the new trailer and V looks brilliant!
It was the PS3 version right?
Graphics are great,gameplay,customization all great!

Spacegoat
No, you didn't. Slashfan was referring to Vice City Stories. Which featured a golf mini game. 👍

Ahh alright that makes a lot more sense since VCS is the only 3D GTA I haven't played

Brilliant game, the autogyro helicopter in VCS is awesome. It will probably be in GTA V to if the vehicle list hidden in Max Payne 3 turns out to be true.

I never played VCS and because I never seen it in my local game store.:(
Am I missing out on much?

It's like Vice City but you play Lance Vance's brother 2 years before Vice City takes place, their's more of a focus on building a business empire than other GTA games but the last mission is one of the very best GTA missions. I played it on PSP and if your a big GTA fan and you can still accept graphics as bad as PS2 games then it's a must, you can probably find it online cheap or... free :sly:

I thought Micheal was the main character in VC... Oh, yeah! I think golfing was in TBGT, but I only played that for a bit.

I watched the whole video and I didn't see anyone steal a car even once. Seems odd for a game named after that actual crime.

I did see a lot of the filler that's invaded GTA. I don't remember playing golf or tennis with a tattooed Tommy Vercetti - but that might have been because I was too busy blowing things up and stealing cars. I do remember not blowing up much or stealing cars with CJ, because I was too busy dying his clothes and making sure he didn't die of starvation - and I don't remember anything but running around a city after a bunch of hardcore criminals who got a bit weepy if Niko didn't play darts with them.

I wonder which inaccessible, near-zero-traffic locations you'll never otherwise visit they'll hide 200 pigeons in this time round, in the map ten times bigger than Liberty City.

Zzzzzzzz.

No, not really. SA and 4 would still exist.

But still, Rockstar have taken the game completely away from anything auto - never mind theft - and turned it into a real-life simulator and parody and no-one seems to mind.

Perhaps it's just me and I'm a crazed sociopath who likes going round blowing crap up and stealing and racing cars in a game as a substitute for ability to do it in reality. Playing golf or tennis (with a DS3 and scripted characters) and stock market trading? Sounds about as much fun as playing computer games in the front room of a guy in a game you're playing. Oh wait, they did that in GTASA...

You can still do those things in GTA V if you want and with a variety of weapons and vehicles, if you really want lots of explosions and superpowers and other cool things wait for Saints Row 4.

Can still do them if I want? It's the name of - and ought to be the core of - the game!

It's exactly my point - the filler has become the game and the game has become the filler. Vice City was non-stop racing, shooting, burgling, blowing up, stealing, money-making, drug-dealing mayhem that never, ever slowed down. Tommy never died because you didn't eat a burger in the middle of all the fun you were having. You never had to stop everything to go bowling with Ken...

In fact I don't even remember what things happened in Vice City other than the racing, shooting, burgling, blowing up, stealing, money-making, drug-dealing mayhem because that was simply too much fun. Was there anything else? Did the game suffer because you couldn't tattoo anyone?

No.

Also the last Saints Row game I played was SR2. It was crap.

Franklin is a Repo man so who knows, in IV you stole cars for Brucie and Steve. Rockstar are trying to give the fans what they want and generally they like what they see.

I personaly didnt care for 4 at all when it came to the characters abd story. I do wish they would hce ALOT more missions that had to do with stealing cars and car chases. Car chases are 70% of why i play GTA. Glad the map will be alot more open. Now i will be able to accidentaly hit a deer in the middle of a chase with a vehicle that i stole! The fillers are still just fillers in my mind.

Sounds like there would be a market for a "GTA Classic" game, i'd probably buy it too, (i still like playing 'Chinatown wars' on the DS :D ).

Yep, GTA has changed a lot since it's top down scrolling days, and GTA 3 to some extent, but i welcome the changes, and can't stop drooling in anticipation of GTAV.

Only thing that bothers me, is that a lot of games these days are really time consuming. :(
