Release Date Announced! 9.17.2013.
Bumped again? So much for spring 2013.
Since they havent shown any gameplay I knew there was no way this was coming out by Spring of 2013. I actually lost count of how many times I said that. If they push it any further it will indeed be on the next console.
Gamestop actually changed their "place holder" date to 12/13/13.

It's a Rockstar game. Their games are gonna take longer and longer to come out, too. Because they always are wanting to go bigger with each iteration.

Yup thats why I laughed back at the end of 2011 when people were guessing it would be out in early 2012. :sly:

I will say it again. A game usually comes out about 4-6 months after they start showing actual gameplay trailers. Its always been like that. So once we start seeing actual gameplay trailers or videos, add about 4-6 months to that.

I am not really dissapointed, I was pretty much expecting delays. Right now I am just glad to have a actual release date, though Rockstar have a habit of delaying a month as the release date closes in.

Dear all,

Today, we have an official release date to share with you: Grand Theft Auto V will arrive in stores on September 17, 2013.

We know this is about four months later than originally planned and we know that this short delay will come as a disappointment to many of you, but, trust us, it will be worth the extra time. GTAV is a massively ambitious and complex game and it simply needs a little more polish to be of the standard we and, more importantly, you require.

To all Grand Theft Auto fans, please accept our apologies for the delay, and our promise that the entire team here is working very hard to make the game all it can be. We are doing all we can to help ensure it will meet if not exceed your expectations come September – we thank you for your support and patience.

Yours, The GTA Team

From the announcement article.

It's just frustrating waiting so long, it'll be nearly two years since the first trailer if that date does become the true date. That's nearly rivalling PD for time between reveal and release.

It'll be worth the wait for sure but still.

So technically the September date isnt necessarily written in stone yet either.

For those that dont remeber the GTA4 bump. The official release date for GTA4 WAS October 17th 2007. Only about a month or 2 before the official release date it got bumped all the way to April 2008.

So I will say again, until we see actual gameplay, dont expect the game until 4-6 months after the gameplay videos. September would work out very well but we will see. If they have been working on it this long it could be one heck of a sandbox game. Hopefully they start releasing gameplay videos within the next month. 👍

So when did we start seeing GTA IV gameplay videos? Because I can't say I remember many, in fact for any GTA game I don't really recall any videos that weren't cinematic.

On Gametrailers there are a couple dated a few days before release, that's it.

Not every publisher follows a set timetable. For example, hitman HD trilogy was released on the 29th. One day after the first trailer and just over a month after the announcement was made. Now I know that that was a simple hd re release and not a big game like GTA, but you get the point. As has also been stated, there weren't any gameplay trailers for GTA IV and that could be the case with V. In other words, you are merely speculating. Remember that.

Yes nearly but, you can't match PD for time between reveal and release. Anyway sucks that GTA V got delayed I was so hyped for it and still am and now I have to wait longer! I know it will be woth it but it's very frustrating.

Oh come on :( April was the prefect release date. All my exams are in February/ March, with a lot of time to play GTA5 afterwards.
But September? Thats exactly when my next exams start :ouch:

Darn it yet another delay.
Ah well I hope it's worth more waiting for.
I wonder why another delay?Have they encountered bugs/glitches etc?
Wouldn't surprise me with the scale of it.
SA was littered with bugs but that was PS2 but still a great game non the less.:D
I hope they bring back car customization from SA,or even use midnight clubs'.

Dissapointed, expected, and glad all at the same time. Haven't been interested in playing most of my games. Now I have time to save more money and it comes out 9 days after my birthday!

Dissapoined, happy, and relieved. I was really looking forward to Spring 2013 but I'm just glad we won't see much speculation BS. I remember back when people thought it'd be out on 5-24-12.

Oh well, it will definitely be worth the wait for the years of fun I'll have with it. (Heck, I still play GTA SA :sly:👍)

At least with this being delayed a touch, I might be able to get through some of my backlog.
Exactly what I was thinking. Kinda glad it got bumped again. I still need to get through a LOT of games before even considering GTA5. All my backlogged games on top of Dead Space 3 coming out next week. Always plenty to keep me busy so I dont mind delays. I always expect them. :sly: 👍

I still haven't even started Dead Space 2 yet!

I never played DS1 or DS2. But fell in love with the DS3 co-op demo instantly! In fact I already paid off the pre-order. If you want to get caught up on the DS1 and DS2 storyline, I posted walkthrough trailer videos in the DS3 thread. 👍

For those that need a sandbox game to hold them over until GTA5 I would highly suggest Saints Row 2 and Saints Row 3. Both have full co-op campaigns with over the top fun and very funny gameplay. They dont take themselves too seriously. Full customization too including your character, your gangs, every vehicle in the game, and even your crib. Its pretty much the perfect mix of San Andreas and Vice city but with a full co-op and full customization.

Yeah, they pushed it back to September. That way I don't have to force myself to wait like 6-9 months for a next gen port. Instead it'll probably be a launch game in November. Open World game sproif the most from more hardware power, so, good news I'd say.

You know what? I'm happy just to finally have a release date. And no, it's not set in stone. A release date is never final until the game goes Gold and it's out of the developer's hands. But, at least we can start countin' the days.

There were none, just as there were none for previous games. Camaroboy has been told this before, yet he ignores it & continues to spout such nonsense that all games follow a time table (despite the fact that Rockstar is one of the most unique developers at creating hype whilst showing nothing) typically followed by a, "I told you so!" post.
