I agree it should have delated until they released everything together. But maybe they did it on purpose to help prevent game spoilers. It will also allow them to make quick patches to any campaign bugs before the mp is released.
Oh well it gives me 2 weeks to finish up everything in the campaign. I just hope other games don't start doing this. :scared:

Maybe, but R* are still working on GTA online.
With single player finished I guess they wanna get that out there and delay the multiplayer through being unfinished?

Oh my god. Oh my god. This game has everything I've ever wanted in a game. Just....omg. What did I do to deserve this?
This seriously made me lol. But the feeling is mutual, and among millions of fans I'm sure. Cheers R*, cheers indeed.

I agree I was also laughing and smiling when I read Slashfan's reply. My feeling is also mutual. That online mp video truly looks like everything I have ever asked for all in one game....finally. 👍
My only minor complaint is I wish it launched with the game but oh well. As I said, it give me more time to finish the single player.

So much so I might not get Fifa this year because GTA V and GT6 should take up more than enough time.
Some games are going to lose out on sales that they could have got because of GTA V without a doubt.

I actually doubt I'll be playing much GT6 even.

I'm glad the mp is delayed a bit. It will give us time to do half the story or so. I'm forever behind with leveling, perks, etc. with every multiplayer game because you have guys that never play the story and just jump into MP day one. (looking at you COD) On Oct. 1 everyone will be online for the 1st time after having a good bit of SP play.

How is delaying MP two weeks after GTA V's release date bad? This will give people time to adapt the game's new controls and it'll give R* some time to prepare everything right for MP, without having MP crash.

I agree. Really nothing wrong with releasing MP late. In fact, I like the idea.

I agree, I'll be glad to learn the game and play most of it through before MP. Otherwise I reckon I'd get destroyed online .

It's certainly the best game of the year for me! Rockstar simply rules :D:tup:.

I also prefer the later release of MP. It should make everybody more even online, I suppose.

That mp video was so dang epic. I am outta this thread until after GTA5 releases. See all of you in a month. 👍

To anyone who is getting the XBOX 360 version of GTA V, I will be doing a massive cruise around Los Santos. Anyone who's interested, send a friend request to A 1998 Jeep XJ

Providing I get my Xbox back from my brother, count me in on the cruise. :)

Yeh right... You'll come crawling back like always for more info.

I prolly will too haha

I think it's possible you lot aren't looking at this later release of MP from the correct angle.
I think it's a later release date because it's an entirely separate game.
I know its connected.
I know it uses the GTAV engine.
I know it's in the same environment.
I know it uses the same mechanics and we'll have to learn the controls through playing the SP as some of you have rightly pointed out.
But I get the impression that it is such a huge undertaking, that it is a whole other game in it's own right.
Plus, it will need downloading.
And who would want to get GTAV, go straight for MP on day one, and overload the servers?
Almost everyone.
I think the scale of what is achievable in MP, with the creator and the connectivity between avatars and the ability to use friends or AI or a combination of both to do whatever you feel like, coupled with all the available activities, is such a massive thing to do, that it's almost like Rockstar had to tackle it separately.
They've been conjuring this kind of game up for a very long time.
They aren't going to get it wrong.
It will be such a steep learning curve for a lot of players, that we will need time in the SP just to have any kind of an idea of how to cope with the awesomeness that is MP.

Can you think of a game where you start playing, drive to your penthouse in the hills, put the TV on, then use your in-game Fruit-phone to call your real-life friends, and invite them over to discuss going to work later on some bank somewhere.
Then you can watch the approach road as they all drive up in tuned, customised cars.
They catch the lift, chill out on the couch while everyone gets there.
Then after some discussion via your headset, the pilot goes and grabs the lear from the airport, meets the rest of you on an abandoned airstrip nearby, you load up, everyone gets in, you all go over the finer details of the job, the pilot calls out "30 seconds" and opens the cargo doors, you all make the jump, skydive in and then take the bank by storm, use the getaway cars you stashed together in the evenings after work before this weekend, then once the money is divided up, you go have a round of golf, get drunk in a bar, sort out a hooker, club her head, steal your money back and then go back to the penthouse to crash for a while before trying out the newest Baha Buggy race that Synwraith designed?

That's scratching the surface of what is possible, and almost all of it is coordinated via your headset and your thumbs.

Can you think of a game where you can do that?

It's pretty obscene.
We will need time to adjust to the scale of awesomeness.
This world will grow and grow and grow according to whatever we complain about or wish for in these forums on the net.
It's going to evolve around us.
It will be paid for in the future to get the updates we want to see, and that we vote for in online communities.
It will possibly become so much to so many, that trivial storylines will only serve to show the latest environment add-on.
This will not please everyone, but it will satisfy most.
It's going to change gaming, all over again.......
Maybe.

That's my opinion, and I'm entitled to it.

Features:

Players can invest in their character through customizing their appearance, improving their stats, owning customized vehicles, purchasing personal property, choosing their favourite weapons and vehicles and taking part in missions, jobs and activities.
Players have the freedom to explore alone or with friends, work cooperatively to complete missions, band together to participate in activities and ambient events, or compete in traditional game modes.
As progress is achieved through the world of GTA Online, players will be introduced to new characters, missions, rewards and such.
A maximum of 16 players can be active at any one time as part of an online universe of hundreds of thousands competing to earn Reputation Points (RP), money and almost limitless material acquisition.
As you speak into your headset, your GTA Online character will lip-sync broadly in time. When robbing a liquor store, AI characters will react to the urgency in your voice, stuffing money more quickly in the bag.
The Content Creator will allow players to create and share their own missions and activities via the Social Club cloud. Other players can beat your target times and scores, then rate your mission. You can even choose which creators you want to follow and curate your favourite missions.
The Feed, a twitter-like program, appears on screen to relay all your emails, texts and messages from Social Club.
The world of Grand Theft Auto Online will constantly grow and change as new content is added, and at some stage GTA Online will head into new locations. Access to Grand Theft Auto Online is free with every retail copy of Grand Theft Auto V and launches on October 1st.

General:

Your ranking will be based off of shooting, driving, parachuting and flying skills.
People can access their data through Social Club and via their iPhones or iPads.
There is a mode called "passive mode" which means you can't shoot people and they can't shoot you.
A "Bad Sport" stat will be given for bad behaviour such as blowing up another player's car, and if it's done persistently you will be punished.
if your multiplayer character at Max Payne 3 had a high level, it will be carried over to GTA: Online for more bonuses that you will unlock.
Matchmaking is based off of ranking, so it prioritizes your friends' rankings, crewmembers' rankings and even strangers so that when you need people, you know who to get.
GTA Online tracks who your rivals are and lets you know when they've come online so you can get some revenge on them.

Multiplayer:

You can assemble a team from your friends list, or recruit according to specialist skills. As you rob a liquor store or perform a heist, the team member that does the job gets the cash and can choose how much to share.
It's possible to spread the wealth by sharing cash, weapons and ammo among your team. In turn, they can 'defect' and try to steal your cash.
You can pick up your phone to 'ring' friends in single player and invite them into your world. Your friends will be listed under 'Contacts' on your phone.
Set up challenges and post it to the Social Club and players can try and beat your score, if they beat your score -- you give them cash.

Miscellaneous:

You start GTA: Online arriving to Los Santos pennyless and you must complete a few missions first to get a feel of the online.
There will be loads of property to buy at different prices, according to their views and location. You can use your in-house CCTV to spy on people at your front door, or take showers, surf the net, change clothes and watch the game's many TV channels.
You can take out insurance and ring for a replacement car if yours gets destroyed.
You can pay a personal mechanic to fix your cars automatically, or deliver them to any location.
You can also check any vehicle's stats for speed, handling etc, before making your choice to purchase.
You can watch real-time events such as police chases on your TV moments after you see them speed past your house.
Your custom cars show as markers on the map and get impounded if you leave them too long. You can pay to retrieve them.
You will be able to deposit your money into your bank account as often as you can. When another player kills you, they can snatch the wallet right from your dead body.
You can switch between single player and online mode by selecting your multiplayer avatar from the character wheel.
If you're fleeing from another player, you can call up a buddy to hide your radar blip.
Passengers will be able to change the in-car radio.
You will have contacts available at anytime that will provide different services on or off mission, as you rank higher you will have access to characters with new and stronger abilities. Examples of such are being hidden from the radar and setting a bounty on another player if you're being chased.
If you steal a vehicle, you can spray and change the plates. Some vehicle customisation businesses might not be willing to do that and you may get a wanted level.
Weasel News will pick up people that have got wanted levels.
There is a planning room in people's apartments.
If you are in a heist and need some help, you can invite your friends and they will be teleported to you instantly.
The experience is seamless between transitions for free-roam and missions.
You can call up a private security firm to bring in an airstrike, i.e. destroy street races.

If you haven't read the CVG interview with the President of Rockstar yet, consider your assumption spot on.

Downloading it though will be a code according to Benzies to unlock the content.
In a new Grand Theft Auto Online interview with CVG, Rockstar North president Leslie Benzies said GTA Online could have launched at the same time as the main game, but that the studio considers it to be "a different entity, a separate thing".

He explained: "It'll be GTA Online; it's not part of GTA 5. Obviously it's set in the GTA 5 engine, but it's going to grow and evolve into its own thing." Access to GTA Online will come for free with every retail copy of GTA 5.

Benzies went on to discuss plans to release a comprehensive set of creator tools for GTA Online, although he said Rockstar doesn't want to overwhelm users at launch.

"Initially, you'll be able to create races and deathmatches, which are probably the simplest. And then, over time, when we feel comfortable that people are ready to get the new creators, they will be released. So it'll be a trickle, but it'll be a constant release of new creators and new content. We don't want to overdo it. It's a complex system.

"That's another reason for the two week delay between single-player and Online. We want to give people an opportunity to actually get their heads around what's happened, because even single-player is a big advancement from the old games. There's a lot of new things to learn."

GTA Online will be accessible through a fourth character on GTA 5's character Switch Wheel, which will become available after two weeks. "When it launches, you'll have an extra character on your Switch Wheel.
Instead of choosing Franklin, Michael or Trevor, you'll select your multiplayer character and you'll be sucked straight in there," Benzies explained.

GTA Online may arrive in the form of "a tiny download", he added, "but it'll just be a code. We've just got to figure out how that will work with Sony and Microsoft."

Thanks for that. Not only do I have to change my pants now, but I also have to burn the couch, and have the floors redone. You don't even want to know what happened to my phone.

This will be me, for literally hours on end, as soon as I have enough money for ammo.

Don't you mean...Cheat code :sly:

But seriously I will do this too, and if someone can show some cool armor cars I know what else I'll be doing.
