Don't forget that my fuel figues are based off of 4 flat out laps. The later laps in a stint will be slower due to worn tyres, and you'll use less fuel on those laps.

Due to that I think the Ford should be able to 1 stop without needing to save fuel, and the Lotus will need a little fuel saving to make it work. The Ferrari is capable of making 2 stops work due to it's pace (0.7 faster than the Ford per lap over 30 laps is 21 seconds), and having fresher tyres for longer than the 1 stopping cars.

Don't forget you use less fuel in the slipstream too....

Very surprised at Ferrari's fuel consumption. You reckon its going to be two stops for everyone?

The Corvette can do a one-stop. I just ran a 15 lap stint on one tank and had 2 units remaining. Not sure how much of an advantage it could be with the tire wear though. How many race laps are we having, 29?

Well. Don't know laps do we? It runs to 2hrs on race timer +1 lap.

Put it to around 35 laps then we will definitely have enough laps

I'm expecting it to be 29 laps at most.

Oh yea, forgot it could rain.

I've started my Le Mans testing. All cars had full aero, good setups, and were fully worn in. Fuel numbers are without saving or drafting.

Ford GT- 4:08.8, top speed of 180mph. Used 26-27L over 4 laps. Will need to refuel around 95-103L in a 30 lap dry race. Has the 3rd best handling.

Ferrari 458 Italia- 4:08.1, top speed of 179mph. Used 29-30L over 4 laps. Will need to refuel around 118-125L in a 30 lap dry race. Has the best handling.

Lotus Evora- 4:08.5, top speed of 181mph. Used 27-28L over 4 laps. Will need to refuel around 103-110L in a 30 lap dry race. Seems to handle worse than the 458 now that they both have setups on.

Aston and Corvette will be done tonight or tomorrow.

Corvette- 4:08.2, top speed of 184mph. Used 28-29L over 4 laps. Will need to refuel around 110-118L in a 30 lap dry race.

Aston @ 493bhp- 4:07.5, top speed of 182mph. Used 30-31L over 4 laps. Will need to refuel around 125-133L. At 4:07.4 and only slightly worse fuel use than the 458, I think it's too fast.

Aston @ 483bhp- 4:08.2, top speed of 181mph. The rest is as above. 483bhp puts it just behind the Ferrari's pace, but with worse fuel consumption and less possible aero (bad for the wet). Due to this I think we should leave it at 493bhp.

I wouldn't do a 1 stopper. Tires fall way off after 10-11 laps. You would lose so much time sliding around, I'd bet 2 stops is faster in the long run.

Furi I'm going to have to go as a reserve driver.

Oh yea, forgot it could rain.

With Furi's settings ... it WILL rain. Only question is how much... :nervous:

Actually, my experience is, in GT5 you use more, because you rev higher.

I think the difference in fuel consumption on worn tyres is negligible (unless they are so worn down you have to lift a lot more). I found that it makes more of a difference when the oil starts getting dirty and you lose power. That's when you start using less fuel, because on average you use lower revs.

What I have no clue about (yet) is fuel consumption in the wet. I tend to think though that wet weather tyres will deteriorate much quicker than you will be able to run the fuel tank dry, so probably fuel won't be that much of an issue.

Will be interesting though who takes a gamble with taking less fuel on etc. when conditions change. You can gain so much time with not filling up the tank to the brim...

1-stopping might be possible in the Ford, but then again ... how likely is it that conditions will stay dry for the whole race and a change in weather comes exactly at the half-way mark? Won't happen...

Watching you test the 458 last week it looked like it used more than the Vantage so I'm really suprised at such a high fuel consumption.

agree

yes , even setting "1" on weather will make rain possibility 100 % in a long race , I don't think we need 100% rain in any race . Clouds and time change is ok , but rain really destroys the modern races anywhere . If you want to make it real than give us please a weather forecast . :)

29 laps tops will do it.

Weather for GTE @ Le Mans

30% chance of rain. 60% chance it will continue raining once it starts.

I don't know when it will rain. Weather will be updated after Q session, in the 1 min gap before race start.

It is the weather, if it is bone dry, its bone dry, if it becomes a lake, it becomes a lake. Whatever happens, happens.

How about just make the weather the same as it is in real life at Le Mans on the race day? :p

Not sure. Hopping on now for some test running.

Real world weather is something I wanted on GT6. OPUS provide it in FSX.

Does anyone know ... if you have time change on fast forward (like we will have 24 hours in 2), is the weather actually changing also faster or is it on its own time schedule...??

I think weather stays on its own.

Test open.

I think it's because you can do the same speeds in the draft with less power than if you were outside of a draft. You don't have to use as much throttle.

Rain falling in my test session, and two big crashes curtailing my running. Seem to have major stability issues on braking and and turn in at low speed.

Is the test still open and if so how long for?

Ok, but that's only if you lift off and stay behind all the time. If you use the draft to overtake, your revs are actually higher than without draft and therefore you would burn more fuel.

Anyway, I don't think draft is going to make a difference in how many laps you can do or who will win the race. :sly:

4:37.1 in full wet weather for the RPM Lotus.

^^^ That.

In my experience, I have always tested for a certain amount of fuel usage and about 80% of the time I end up using *less* fuel during the race because of the slip stream.

I will say that I reckon Ford have the edge going into this weekend. Us Lotus guys will need rain by the bucketful.

My test room was 1hr 25minutes, and rain was falling heavily for an hour. First time in 3 simulations its happened.
