Standing or Rolling starts?

FF drivers opinion only. standing or rolling start?

Grid start with a manual 62mph/100kph pace lap.

The in-game rolling starts space the field out too much, that and the GTPES drivers can gain valuable experience from a manual rolling start. 👍

No strong preference but it is frustrating losing 3 or more places on nearly every start. Might reduce first corner carnage as well if everything is coming in at the speeds they are used to rather than guessing braking points.

In equal launches i prefer standing starts don't get me wrong, But my vote is rolling starts as then qualifying matters and is fair for all, except that volvo

cool cool

so @RacingLine @GT_Vette do you guys think the VW needs any work?

280 bhp maybe I don't know as of now.

Cornering is good so weight don't need any changes, however it's abit sluggish during acceleration.

We need to see were it stands on more normal tracks.

noted thanks mate will look at it 👍

For those not yet aware, course creator is getting closer :D

Don't change the wear rate, honestly, I did 13 laps on SS with no major issues. 25% - 75% works well too (we did 20 laps, window 5-15).

I'd agree on bringing the Race 1 pit back though, it felt like somethng was missing...
Were you driving an FR?

The FR's are so much kinder to their tyres. I tried the Toyota 86GT earlier today and I literally had no wear.

On a track like Tsukuba the FF cars will have real problems getting the power down. The choice will be power or steering only. The only saving grace will be if a few FR drivers are too enthusiastic they might start drifting and spin out.

If we have standing starts the RWD has an advantage off the line
If we have rolling starts the FWD has and advantage due to it straight line speed.

So it would give the advantage to the FWD on the starts.

The standing start is one of the reasons I choose RWD, if you take that away then :(:odd::grumpy:

And what about D1/D2 with promotions/demotions but instead of applying it each round, swap the 3-5 (TBC) top D2 / bottom D1 drivers every 4 races (inter season and mid season) or between each season.
Can add spice to the championship :mischievous:

at the start the grid will be bunched so the slip should hopefully sort that out?

that's the thing, what's the point. half of your points go to D1 half to D2
Think it will be better having all fighting for one title

And don't forget the wet races.
If you get over keen on the power in an FF then you just spin up the tyres, if you get over keen on the power in an FR you get backwards.

My issue with that is simple, if I'm leading D2 after 4 rounds, why would I want to be promoted? I'd rather win that championship and take a promotion the following season.

Assign points from 1st to 32nd, simple.
But maybe that's too much of a change.

We could argue the FF vs FR battle all day, I think it works/evens out as is.

yep, that's going to be the worse

rolling starts, despite being really boring may be the best solution. a FF won't gain any more more advantage, but an FF will

why can't we keep huge V8 FR Guzzlers

what I mean is if you finish last in D1, you'll still score more then D2 1st.. meaning it's impossible for them to be promoted

Because if you double stack the scoring system (which I suggested a few weeks ago, along with a new qualification system) it makes a lot more work.

In the rain ? with an FF? We will all understeer into the gravel. Acceleration will be even worse due to the weight being shifted away from the driving wheels..

No, what I mean is the top 4 (for instance) swaps with 13-16 of D1 every 2 or 4 or whatever races no matter their championship standing. The only issue I see is while one's stuck in D2 the amount of points he can score is capped to 17th...

Rolling starts are really boring.

This series is loosely based on the BTCC, they have a standing start and the same FR/FF issue. As an FF driver I would like to keep standing starts, I like the challenge that they bring and I don't mind that an FR gets away better, I knew that before I made my car choice. ;)
There's 2 RWD's available :D

There's pros and cons for each drive type, you just have to way them up.

And I seen a certain FF fly off the line today, cough @Ian_83 cough
 I know how to make a good start, have been mastering it for a year or so now and I love being able to get away well. It's satisfying. :) I might be an old Volvo driver but I can win a traffic light grand prix.

I can't quite get away like an FR can, but I like to think that I shock them with my starts.

Fair point 👍

I was just saying it's easier to control the effects of wheel spin in the wet in an FF as apossed to an FR, it is on my pad anyway.
