I was busy this weekend but I'm down for some practice this week. I can host up a session if you guys want. Any night this week is fine with me. Doing a 9-11 pm session would be the best. Could do a little earlier on Tuesday- Thursday.

Also wanted to go ahead and let you guys know I'll only be able to do one stint in the race and it will likely have to be the first one. That day is the first race in this new series my buddy is racing in so I'm going to the track that day to give him a hand.
No worries, I have the day off so I can triple stint no problem! I am really hoping we can get a 2 car effort for this one! Gotta start recruiting!

Sounds good. Yeah that would be awesome if we could get enough for 2 teams even if we don't end up in the same split. I'll be on Tuesday night if you guys want to practice. I can host up a session.

I can be on tonight also.

Sweet!! But no need to host, we can just get on a regular practice server, the Blancpain series is running there this week!

I just got into Iracing and I'm honestly been having a blast. I'm hoping to find some new friends to race with. I have one friend who already plays but he is in a higher license class than me and we end up getting split in different races all the time. If you guy do league racing do you recommend any for me to join?

I didn't know they were already doing that series. Its cool if you guys just want to get it there but if y'all don't really care I would rather just host up a session. Its just easier to talk to each other and share setups and stuff if we are in our own room. I don't really care about spending the $1 lol. Wasnt sure about the weather so if I hosted I was just going to use default weather until we figure out what weather going to be in the race. Just let me know when you guys can get on and I can host up something 8-10 or 9-11 pm.

Ive pretty much just done league racing ever since Ive been on iracing and not much official racing. It was always oval leagues though as I never really found any good road ones that matched my time schedule. Its been a while since Ive been in a league though honestly. If you want to hop on and practice with us tonight your more than welcome. We will be using the BMW at Sebring.

Sure what times you guys practice?

I still have a few things to do before i can get on so its looking like I'll host from 9-11 pm eastern time tonight. Just set up the session to start at 9 pm and here are the details.

Team GT Planet Sebring practice

Just got kicked from the server, so I'm calling it a night. Seems like a new router is in order tomorrow...

I couldn't make it on tuesday night, but got some practice in last night. What kinda times were you guys running?

I've got my own 2-man team together for the Sebring 12 hours (although I might end up doing a 4 hour stint at one point) so good luck to you guys!
I will put my name in to be a reserve if my teammate pulls out at the last minute as I definitely want to run this race.

Are both cars you're intending to run going to be Ford GTs? Or are you running 2 different cars?
I've been practicing and will be entering in the McLaren so I'll have to buy the GT and practice before if I do indeed end up having to jump in with you guys.

With the McLaren I've been managing 2'03/2'04s (going into 2'05s later in the race) in the 40 min Blancpain Sprint races. I've done a 2'01.9 in qualifying. For me 2'04/5 is a safe race pace that doesn't use any kerbs and takes the last and first corners with caution. With the setup I'm using the tyres start to get a little edgey in those corners after 30 minutes.
People are also too eager to divebomb or brake very late into turn 7 ("hairpin"). I know I brake a little early in the McLaren there (pretty much just past the 200m board whereas most brake at 175m~150m roughly) but people commit far too much into it. I'm not looking forward to the HPDs coming up to lap cars in that corner, I'm tempted to let people past before that corner.

As I understand it, Road Warrior series is always default weather. :)

We were using the default weather and I was using a setup I got off the forum but I added full tank of fuel and was doing low 2:03's. I think 2:03.2xx was my best. @Jav did a 2:01 something with low fuel and I think @adeadsnipermatt did 2.02 something. I'm terrible at this track. Like I said in the practice room I've only ever raced here 2 times ever. I've just never really liked it honestly. I'll need more practice before the race for sure. I would like to drive least bit as possible lol.

@Ardius @aarror So far we have been using the BMW.

I managed to get in the 2:01's now. I'm really close to high 2:00's as well. And one going to do the 2 hr official racing today?

Sadly I won't be around my rig that week otherwise I would love too.

I really botched that race, it's on GSRC. I spun and drilled the wall on T1 then later ran out of fuel as I was so enveloped in watching out for HPD's. If you haven't gotten a chance to check out the Pacific Majors Predator Format, it's pretty awesome, the series organizer crunches some serious numbers to get the GT3, HPD, and DP cars to run in the same class with start time handicaps. The 2.4 of Daytona turned out a little better with the corvette instead of the HPD.

Edit: I should probably add that my computer was not up to the task last night, every time a wall of HPD's freight trained me my framerate dropped so bad it was all I could do to keep the car on track.

Playing around with other setups and I've got my race averages down to 2:02s or 2:03s depending on the setup. I can't decide whether to play it safe with more understeer (but more prone to off track mistakes and attacking the kerbs trying to turn in) or more turn in but having to balance the car a bit.
Having spent all last week using a more balanced setup, I find using an understeer prone setup easier to make mistakes. Does anyone have any suggestions on which way to go in endurance racing? Am I better with the understeer setup to help make it easier when I get tired and/or lose focus? Or is it better having a setup I'm more comfortable in?

I'm actually faster with the understeering setup, mostly because I'm getting on the power and taking smoother lines. But if I just miss my marks a little and try to push a little too much, I find it much much easier to run wide or make mistakes.
The understeer setup is also horrendous in the final corner but great in the first corner. I could practice more with the understeer setup but my initial impressions are that I'm going to make a lot more mistakes with it.

I'd say don't worry too much about the first corner as there are a couple of lines trough there where you can still carry good enough speed, it is till important as it leads to a passing spot so you really need to find the line that works for you without having to sacrifice the last corner which leads to a longer straight and you really need the exit speed and to stay away from that fast aproaching wall on the outside.

With sunset bend (last corner) try 2 clicks lower RF and LR HS Rebound. I watched my replay in slowmo and tried that with the FGT3 last night and it worked pretty well to keep me stable in the bumps and maybe even 2 clicks lower on the rear HS Bump. It added a little understeer to the setup so I compensated by lowering the diff preload to help with turn in. But if exit gets too tight just undo your change to make it understeer that you just did in your post. This could be totally backwards though as the BMW has a totally different engine layout.

Our weather was winds W@5, 75% RH, and 92 degree track temp (I forgot ambient) and 2:00.6 to 2:01.7 was a decent first several laps on a fuel run. I was 2:02 to 2:03 just like you. FGT3 cars could do 30 to 33 laps on a tank. The BMW and Ruf are just shy of that.

Can I join your team for the 12hr of Sebring? I was going to do a two man team but my friend dropped out so i'm available to join another

I don't own the BMW and Sebring hates me, so I think I'll sit this round out. Best of luck guys, I'll follow your progress.

That's what I thought then I started putting a couple hours in each night the week before, and Sebring and I came to an understanding.

Me too, I need to buy the BMW now and practice with it. I've done all my practice with the McLaren.

How many people have we got confirmed? Do we have enough for two cars? If we do, shall I start a second team?

Also, for either of the cars, what time slots and stints are people thinking of doing? Does anyone have any plan yet?
And do we have a setup for the BMW that we are all happy with?

You most definitely can guys!
So far we are 5 people including you 2, almost enough for a 2 car effort doing 2 two hour stints each just like we did on Daytona.
We still need to sort out the stints.
Still not decided on a setup, we already have 2 GTPlanet teams setup and ready to go.

I like the setup Jav gave earlier. I can get in the low 2:01's pretty consistently now. If we need to switch cars let me know in advance so I can practice. I've only touched the BMW right now.

Also go you guys use Skype or some other VoIP when the race comes? I don't mind the in i game VoIP but it gets annoying to hear other people sometimes so I turn it off while driving.
