toyomatt84Public streets. 👎
skylineGTR_guyBut by all means, give us a track and we will go there...
CasioYou could take the option of NOT SPEEDING.
Middle of night, no lights. Guy/Large Animal walks out infront of you from the side and they're dead, with a good chance you will be too.
skylineGTR_guywhat would a guy be doing in the middle of the highway?

yeah, by the lack of a track near him.luftroflSo it was voluntary? He made it seem like he was being forced into doing this.
That's what I thought, especially at night time. Myself I don't mind a little bit of speeding, but 140+mph is just insane...kylehnatYou are incredibly stupid. If you're going to drive 160mph at night, you might as well put a gun to your head and pull the trigger. You do realize that at that speed, you will not see anything before you hit it?
FamineYou're there, aren't you?
JCE3000GTCool, middle of the night + straight road + no traffic = some serious fun. What year is the Z?
luftroflI am curious, why exactly do you choose to do this?
Integra Type RProbably because he was out with some friends and he wanted to have some fun so he took his car to near its top speed.
daanyeah, by the lack of a track near him.
I don't have a track near me, yet I don't feel the need to go out in my car and drive at over 140mph.

SRV2LOW4MENice vid. 👍
Whats the specs of your ride?
kylehnatFun fact: The ability to see greatly increases a species' chance of survival!
I dare you to do it again with the headlights off; it's just as safe as what you were doing. (That is not a sarcastic remark; it is the truth.)
Even a slight loss of control would have resulted in your death (and your buddy's). Loss of control, from say, a tire being ripped apart because it was over its rated speed.

And did anyone else who could have been around accept those risks too?skylineGTR_guyand I full well know that we could die doing it and its a risk we accepted.
It's just you.Ghost CIs it just me, or does anyone else notice that the people who are so against street racing/speeding are the people with slow cars? Just an interesting tidbit...
skylineGTR_guyNot standing in the middle of the road now am I?

skylineGTR_guyActually there WAS a circuit nearby where we could safley race and have our fun, but it got shut down due to noise, nevermind the fact that its at the end of an airforce base runway, literally. How can they expect us to be safe when they take away all our options?
You do understand the concept of overdriving your headlights don't you?Ghost CPuh-lease. Doing it with the headlights off is just as safe as with them on? Yeah, tell you what, stab yourself with a rubber knife, then do it with one out of your kitchen - C'mon, it'll be just as safe as the rubber knife!![]()
That's the most airtight logic I've ever seen.Ghost CIs it just me, or does anyone else notice that the people who are so against street racing/speeding are the people with slow cars? Just an interesting tidbit...
kylehnatYou do understand the concept of overdriving your headlights don't you?
Exactly. Most headlights have a range of about 200-300 feet (high-beams). At 160mph, you are travelling 234 ft/s, meaning you will have about 0.8-1.3 seconds between the time you see something in your headlights and the time of impact. Most humans take between 1 and 2 seconds to see something, process that information, and then do something in reaction. Add the response time of the car (braking distance), and now it becomes physically impossible to react in time to anything if you're driving too fast.G.TFor example, if your headlights only have a visual distance of 50m, and you are going 50m per second (no idea how fast that is in mph), if you see something in the distance, you'd have to break in 1 second to prevent yourself from hitting it, and that's quite impossible. Even if you tried to swerve out of the way, at that speed you're more than likely going to lose control of your car.
I think that's correct anyway...
FamineYes, it's just you.

Touring MarsI can't say that I agree at all with the practice of street racing or illegal speeding. I know that there are plenty of websites and plenty of videos etc. for people who want to share their experiences/activities with the rest of the world, but while speeding on public roads is illegal, I think it is inappropriate to be posting such material (or links to this sort of thing) here on GTP. By all means, discuss the relative merits of the activity (i.e. here and here) but alas GTP cannot be seen to condone this sort of illegal, irresponsible and very dangerous activity by hosting links to such videos...
