No, it's not. My and others point is that FACTUALLY GT6 online is missing a lot of options and features and what it does have is very limited. Whether I want those features is irrelevant to that fact.
It's not very limited. As I said, you ask for secondary options. SECONDARY (ranks, clubs and all that stuff...) the main stuff (the actualy online gameplay, races) are already available. If you dont understand this, I dont know what to say...

It is limited. Whatever you want to call those features, they're still very common parts of online games these days and also what PD plan to implement, but haven't yet. If you don't understand that, I'm done here.

Just some advice here, and take it or leave it....

That's probably not the smartest thing to say to a mod. Especially in the troll-like tone you're giving off.

No, it's fine. Anything that makes him feel vindicated.

So "actual online gameplay" is available and everything else is secondary? It is 2014 where you live isn't it?

In response to the OP, in my opinion it seems to me they have (sort of) abandoned it. They waxed lyrical about massive amounts of DLC for GT6 before it's release yet 3 months on we've barely heard a peep about any significant new content and considering the PS3 and GT6 are now 'last generation' I really can't see anything much forthcoming.

In saying that, if it is indeed the case I wouldn't put the blame on PD because I'm pretty sure it will be Sony's call. A brand new console, no AAA driving game on the PS4 with Driveclub, to quote Sony themselves, "gone back to the drawing board" it makes sense for Sony to pressure PD into putting all their effort and resources into getting a GT game out for the PS4 ASAP.

Fast food restaurants are very common, that doesnt mean they are any good.

Yes.
I bet when the useless global ranks are implemented, and they realise that they are not that important, then the typical complaining brigade will move on and complain about something else, we will see.

I'm a big fan of PD's games like you @NixxxoN , in fact most of us here are (obviously), but you're blindly dismissing all their flaws like it's an abomination to say anything bad about them.

At the end of the day, we've been promised many features, which were seemingly planned for day one until a few weeks before the games release, when they pushed them all back.

Almost 4 months since release and we haven't seen a single feature, nor heard anything from PD for the last 2 months regarding the progress of the game.

We were also promised "Monthly track DLC" from PD in an interview.

All this and I still have faith (somehow).

As paying customers we have a right to complain about our product, and it's not the least bit surprising to see the magnitude of uproar on this forum, when you look at what has happened with GT6.

So, brown-nose PD all you want, people won't stop complaining.

The existence of this thread alone says a lot about the impression that PD is putting forth for GT6
In all fairness, a thread like this would still exist if GT6 was 10x better than the pile of poop it is now and PD were here daily communicating with us.

Well folks, I'm loving the votes so far, aren't you?. *eats popcorn* This is *drinks pop* an intense battle. Stay toon on GTPlanet's most dramatic community show.

Its not about PD, its about the common online ranks system, I believe they are quite useless, believe me, I have a lot of experience about it.

It's pretty worrying that more than 1 person think GT6 has been abandoned.

Those people who voted yes maybe aren't aware of the 1.05 update that we got only a couple weeks ago? :boggled:

If GT6 swan song is already started, time window is time before GT7 is coming out, they aren't delaying GT7, but sooner it's out sooner GT6 is dead, clock is ticking for GT6.

Probably PD will get some features out for us on GT6, but who really cares if community options and fully working online are usable only few months 'coz GT7 is breathing on neck and "GT6 support" is ending soon after GT7 is out.

Half baked, false advertised, just made for cashing money for next generation console version, and it's easy to test several new ideas on old platform, nobody cares if you just test something what would be great if it works, but half way working and never fixing it is mantra of GT6, sad.

But if you look through the news, GT5 is getting more seasonal event that GT6 is. It's almost April, which should mean the fourth Vision Gt is on it's way. Instead, we have 1...and the same 1 with a wing. And the 1.05 update had very little in it of any real value in it other than finishing what should have been done before release.

There was a time when I was more optimistic, but I have to agree with your sentiments. And for all the talk about a GT7 prologue, I won't be one to dive into a PS4 for that.

Just opinions - not facts:

"gt6 was abandoned"

A - No.

"GT5 was updated relatively faster"

A - not by much and they are working on GT6 for PS4 as well.

"it's been more than 3 months and we don't have X they wont add it ever - pack the bags"

A - GT5 was updated over the period of 2 years

"they delivered nothing"

A - few cars, RB events/cars and lots of minor tweaks are hardly nothing and still requires work.

"not sold enough"

A - 2,5 mln right now and probably 4 mln lifetime is enough plus assets being used for PS4 version resulting in heavily reduced development time

"gt7 is coming FAST so GT6 must be updated tomorrow so we can enjoy it"

A - GT7 is not coming, Kaz always ever only talked about GT6 on PS4. GT6 on PS4 may come at the end of the year - just when GT6 on PS3 will be receiving major update. They are developed together and share assets.

GT7 is not in production. If it is then PD is currently 1. Updating GT6 on PS3, creating GT6 version for PS4, creating GT7 - Nope :)

PD will deliver promised features but it will take up to 1 year or more.

@TurismoBad you're quite misinformed if you think GT6 is coming to PS4, and PD have already told us GT7 "may" be out this year, so yes they've been working on it.

Although, it's likely it'll be a prologue not the full release if we get anything this year, considering what we've heard.

So how would people feel if GT7P came out before all the things they promoted for GT6 (course maker/gps, B-spec, community features etc) were added baring in mind GT7P may not be out for at least 5 months or far longer?

I would find this completely unacceptable and this should also be a worry for PD/KAZ blind worshippers as it would clearly demonsterate that current customers are not a priorety but new customers are and where would this leave people if they also thought gt7p should no longer be a priority for whatever reason and moved on to GT7 leaving people with another pile of mess?

Another fact is PD clearly took the piss out of gt fans by marketing all of those features whilst obviously knowing they wont be ready for well after a year of showing them off, All of you guys defending everything and making excuses for whats lacking in gt6 just remeber PD/KAZ are taking the piss out of you! You get nothing for not opening your eyes, Defending them doesnt make you the greatest fan ever, There is no honour to be won, Just whats inside your wallet

If that was the case i would pre-order on day 1, cancel 1 day before launch date. Then go to a sony store, buy the game and return the next day...

Fast food restaurants are very common, that doesnt mean they are any good.

GT is very common compared to other racing games (going on sales)... is that the sort of argument you were trying to make?

:)

Presumably it's bad news, or something that would be received badly by the general public. If it was good news they'd be falling over themselves to tell us.

Why wait then? Possibly because the best way to make sure that bad news doesn't have too big an impact is to either package it with or follow it shortly after with some good news. Timing can make a difference.
Kaz and the SONY CE folk have been pretty tight lipped or vague about anything till some offering is pretty close to release in the PS3 age. Of course, that doesn't mean that what you're saying isn't exactly true...

This is such a weird time to be a GT fan. It seems clear to me with two different people at different times leaking clues about GT7 Prologue that this has to have been okayed by SONY, or deliberate. Now the question is, with work on GT7/Prologue going on, what does that mean for GT6? Especially with the silence after such meager updates - really more like patches this month?

I've always been of the opinion that people complaining about GT5 Prologue holding up GT5 proper, they were off base. There were only a number of interviews in which Kaz said that making GT PSP was really hard work, and a long period of really hard work, to the point that all of PD had to quit work on GT5 to focus on PSP building. That means coders, modelers, artists, everyone, trying to squeeze something bigger than GT4, 5GB, into the PSP, 1GB. In comparison, I'm pretty sure that GT5 Prologue took a small portion of the team to fuss with some assets and game code made for GT5 and massage it into a mini-game. I suspect just one lead coder, modeler, network guy or whatever, and a few subordinates to do the work and test things. Kaz has never said to my knowledge how it was actually tasked out, but much of the work is just lifted from GT5 work itself, so I suspect my scenario is fairly accurate.

So the question for me is, how ambitious does Kaz want this prologue to be? GT5P was the biggest racing minigame I can recall, almost as large as Live For Speed. And in discussing GT7 Prologue here on the boards, people have wanted a bigger game yet. One guy mentioned 400 cars if I recall, it was a lot, and more tracks too. The PS3 models have been stated to be good enough for PS4, so they should port right over. But what if Kaz wants to really show off and make people take notice of what they can do? I mentioned "living worlds" with a lot of stuff going on, more environmental detail, dynamic crowds with more individual movement and not looking like 2D mannequins, flags waving in the wind realistically, Speedtree-like foliage that responds to breezes. Race locations that look dirty and well used. Fan favorites like beefy sound and damage. An online system like GT5 and 6 really should have had. Time of day transitions on all tracks, and more realistic weather, including things like wind gusts - how many games have wind gusts? Who knows how many cars will be on track at once?

What if some of that user content is there, like a Course Maker 2.5? Race Mod and a basic Livery Editor? Some of that GPS work? Online club and league tools? A game that grows not just from updates, but from what we add to it? A real mini-GT7?

Yeah, that's kind of crazy talk. But, it would change a lot of people's minds who are sure they'll never touch Prologue with a ten foot network cable. And keep fans a lot more happy until GT7 itself is ready. But that is quite a bit of work, and then there's the matter of the team piling on to GT7 itself...

Have they already piled? Is that why GT6 has seen almost nothing released for it for two months? If Lawndart is right, April is going to be Normandy for Kaz. I'd never abandon Gran Turismo, since nothing feeds my need for speed like it does, but I'm a lot more accommodating. He's going to HAVE to have something to share with the class in a few weeks, or the Stormgriperz will attack in force.

Well, piss. :D

This might vex you, but because there is no comparable racer to a GT game, I'll be there for my PS4, my Prologue, and if I need a wheel controller for PS4, that too.

TB - There have always been two Gt's on every PS console since 1997.

  • GT / GT2 on the PSone
  • GT3 / GT4 on the mighty PS2
  • GT5 / GT6 on the PS3
  • GT7 / GT8 will be on the PS4 if history is "prologue" (pun intended)
Nothing with the name "GT6" will be on the PS4. Expect GT7 prologue by Fall of 2014 / Spring of 2015. Remember, the PS3 launched on 11/17/2006 in the states but we didn't get a full GT5 until 2010 with HD & Prologues at the outset.

Just because they've done something in the past, doesn't mean it will always be like that in the future.
