having trouble with real circuit tours

I did this using the Minolta and just with the standard setup with no problems and first time, keeping up with the cars in front was not really an issue.

I'm pretty sure I did this with a 787B running racing hard tires.

Wow how in the world?? That car is a beast on straights but can't turn. I could try for a million years and never pull that one off - well done :)

I gave up on this in the end. Itll close soon anyhow - right now im grinding in my MR-2 '86 for 400k a race until new a-spec seasonals come out

i did the dream car one in toyota 7 - tried the shared FGT for the Nurburg nightmare lol - thatnks btw it had a huge advantage on bendy roads but ultimately i realised that if I couldn't keep the car on the road i couldnt win - if i could finish the track without three major accidents maybe lol :)
also i'd never driven an FGT before i borrowed yours so it was strange getting used to - kind of like a Toyota 7 or 2J at 20,000RPM lol

in my advice though (i tried a lot of cars) the best one for me, if i could handle a 4WD, is the Escudo - if like me you expect to come off the track the Escudo will get you back on quick - if you touch another vehicle at high speeds they will spin out; not you, and it also accelerates like a beast :)

I'll give it a shot with this car/tire tonight and report back, if this race is as difficult as everybody is saying I may be mistaken (thinking of another 'Ring event)... I don't want to misrepresent my skills.

lol theres no need really im just rubbiish haha
i have the 787 but generally avoid it unless on Indy speedway which is never lol
I just find it doesnt steer very responsively - i could probably alter the suspension or something with help from gtplanet tuners but then why make a horse into a lion if its supposed to be a horse :)

Alright.... tried again and I must have did it on racing soft tires because on my second try I finished 3.6 seconds behind the lead. I wasn't making up enough time on the back half of the track. Winning on racing hard tires with the 787B is doable, and if I try again I bet I could get it, but I'm ready to move on to something else.

I'm using one of the tunes I found on the Wiki page with ABS set to 1 and TC set to 2 to take the edge off. The car is still a handful though, no full throttle in third gear while the wheel is turned much or you'll swap ends, and the car likes to rotate while decelerating in second gear so you have to be careful with it.

Advice would be to wait until a Toyota 7 holds the front, it will drastically slow whatever is behind it, holding them up most of the way to the Caroussel. If you overtake it before the C9 or Pescarolo Hybrid gets it, you'll find it much easier to win. Minolta is a good bet, or the C60 Hybrid, whichever you have and can control best, they're both over 740 PP fully tuned. Or use a detuned Polyphony digital as others have suggested, either way works.

This,

Although I used a Escudo, that car is so good it feels like cheating :)

Know your lines, know your braking points, slow in fast out on the tight curves, caress the throttle with LMPs on corner exits and aim for consistent times in practice mode that match 1st place man (between 7.40.xxx - 8.05.xxx)

Did this with the Mazda Furai, enjoyed it so much I did it a couple of times more.

The bit I had to watch was coming down the long straight, checking behind me to ensure I stayed ahead. I'm pretty sure the race was pretty close, even when passing the first placed car as far back as Karoussel.

Definately knowing or learning the track helps, try it with the racing line until you become more confident with your braking points and where you can go flat-out.

I might be stating the obvious, but the key to this event is to make-up as much as possible at the start, the sooner you get to the front, the quicker you can relax into a proper rhythm. Don't get stuck behind the AI, pass them at the first half-chance. If you wait behind an AI through a slow section, you'll have no chance. It also seemed to me that if I got stuck behind one AI once, I tended to get stuck behind other AI also at critical points.

you dont have to use the "f1".. I can go almost as fast as the F1 in other cars..You can win with "peugeot 908" and "mazda 787"and "audi r10" and easily if you have the minolta toyota..You can even make a few mistakes with the Peugeot and Toyota .. You need to be smooth with the Mazda and Audi but I find them easier to drive and you dont make as many mistakes with them..I left the Toyota stock save for 5 extra degrees on the front to help with turn in.The toyota and peugeot will gain all the way through the track but with the others you will have to gain a bit of a lead because the lead car when I ran the track was always the toyota 7 race car and it is fast on the straights.. I am not sure but i think if i could get the "f1" car down enough in pp to use it the Toyota and Peugeot would be faster at least with me driving it..I am only around 8 seconds a lap faster with it than the toyota as is.. I am an older guy and play for fun.. I love driving the "Mazda 787" win or lose because it is so so easy to drive and looks good from the cockpit in "3d"....I am sure there are other people with other views but this is my 2 cents worth.. thanks.

I just ran this event again with the 787B on race hard and it was fabulous (as usual). I caught the Minolta at the karousel and passed him just beyond it.

I find it very balanced. Being a MR configuration it will actually turn too well if you lift off throttle at the wrong time. She stepped out on me a couple of times.

Trail brake to get the suspension set and then light throttle all the way through the turns and she'll reward you.

Yeah, when I tried it with RH tires I was playing a lot of catch with the car in second gear diving into turns. It was very smooth though, so it was fun.

I think the 787B is one of my favorite cars in the game, even if it handles like a truck compared to the Formula GT. I'd like to try more of the prototype cars, but I'm such a fan of the cockpit view that I basically limit myself to the premium cars.

Everything handles like a truck compared to the FGT (except the X cars).

But since you like the cockpit view you are in luck. All the open cockpit standard cars have good cockpit views. Not as good as premium of course but good. I'm a fan of the V12 LMR and when PD added the cockpit view I was stoked. :D

ye i noticed this recently - some of the standard models have unique inside views just like premiums - except obviously they don't look as detailed and the other thing is there is no rear to look at when you glance behind you, just road. Still a nice surprise though as I always thought all the standards had those blacked interior views

I used the Peugot 905, stock with Racing Softs. Passed the Sauber just before the Carusell, had a half a straight lead down the final straight and only finished .7 secs in front.

I'm laughing at myself right now because I forgot about that little fact about the open top prototypes.... I don't mind that the gauges don't move, I just want to feel like I'm sitting in the car. :p

I used a R8(Playstation team Oreca) Race Car, and won using this setup, its a great setup if you have the car, also won Expert B-Spec online with it, using the pit lap 2 and 9 strategy, going from hards at the beginning of the race, to intermediates, and back to hards. Great car for anything you might want to use it for.

Wait... You used a Suzuki ESCUDO Dirt Trial Car for this seasonal???

EDIT: for the begging 4 I think races I've used a Bentley Speed 8 Race Car and it was very easy wins but I just couldn't win with it on Nürburging 24H :(

I couldn't do this at all, I'm absolutely awful around The Ring. In the end I had to turn all the assists on as it was the only way I could do a full lap without spinning off. Can't remember what car I used though, Minolta I think.

Same car and setup I used with stock turbo and power limiter to run the wet Spa TT. Ran a 2:31 my first lap. This car is dead stable even in the wet. Well, I did run TCS 1 for the rain.

I beat the ring with this set up. The only change was the aero being set 35/42 and brakes 6/5. Nice little tune.

Hm, did this with the Minolta with default aids on (tried it without SRF and got frustrated after losing sub 1 second three times in a row :grumpy:) with downforce tweaked up and racing soft tires easily... Knowing the track is key. Won by over 5 seconds so it is easily doable if you know the track (and I'm not that good a driver haha).

Oh my i even win with GT-R 2008 Super GT.... or the RX-7(fully tuned) from DLC
No aids
Now Cmon

I like to think I'm half-decent at racing games, by no means excellent but competent. The Nurburgring 24hr drove me to full assists in the Minolta. I suspect I'm not the only one in this thread who started appreciated the "Green Hell" nickname after this seasonal.

I did this first in the Toyota 7 and again when I got a 787B (love that thing!) ...now I'm really liking the permium Jag XJ9 and can get it round the Nurb pretty fast. So I might do it again tonight. Best seasonal I think.

I tried the FGT, toyota 7, and a few others before nailing it with the Minolta. Must admit to RS tires and used assists but even with them I couldn't manage with any other cars. Max aero, lowered to the ground and camber f1.8, r0.8 if that helps. Can give a tranny setting if you need it.

Managed to do the monza race with a 620pp ferrari 458, then used my 787b for the rest winning by about 10-20 secs each time.

7:41.583 is apparently my best known run at the Ring race with my un-upgraded 787B. Not that that is super fasy, but it's pretty fast for me even without the rolling start and passing cars.

Love this race, I've done it sooo many times. Not as much since they ruined the 787B's sound, but it's still fun in other cars - there's just been other things to do. I've been in first before Kallenhard, but not taken first quite that early and avoided screwing up later. I think you probably need the 7 to be there to get them all that soon.

Minolta. It will be extremely easy with that car (unless you're rubbish).

I used my Toyota GT One. PP717 with over 900 HP. Easy win despite making a ton of mistakes. Its an easy car to drive and control. My go to car for any race not involving the FGT.
