Hahahaaaa!! Cant argue with that! :)

Yep CCC order the cars and they are 'modified' near the ports. IIRC Owen developments are responsible for the FQ400. IMHO if I had to get a spanking new one I would choose a small importer and get it serviced by a reputable tuner over a dealer anyday!

I know a little bit about Evo's but not much about Scoobies :(

On to the engine. The engine is a boxer set up, now, I know you probably don't know a lot about Boxers. A boxer engine is a vertically opposed cylinder engine, most super cars (like the RUF/Porches you described), have a boxer, but yet, it cost $90,000 in their set ups, and is VERY unreliable. In a Subaru, it has a large cylinder boxer, where the cylinders are quite large, which means they can make a smaller, more dependable, very powerful engine, for cheap. This engine is a big turbo inter-cooled engine, and I know what you are thinking "Turbo=Lag". WRONG! The Turbo in any WRX DOES NOT LAG, I have been in a 2.5RS, STi, Standard WRX, and the new TR, and have not felt any "lag" from an un-reved launch too.

2.5rs doesn't have turbo???

Few points here.

1. Are you talking about a Lancer Evo IX here, because that most definatly doesn't have a boxer engine, its an in line four. As can be quite clearly seen here on the spec page for the Evo IX.

2. Porsche/RUF engines are unreliable? I think not, Porsche have built a reputation on manufacturing the supercar/sports car you can use every day, reliablity, particularly of the drive-train is a famed part of the Porsche legend.

3. Most supercars do not have a boxer engine, apart from Porsche/Ruf most supercars/sports cars running more than four cylinders will run with a v config engine (and the 180degree flat v's used by Ferrari are not the same as a boxer engine).

4. Turbo-lag has been pretty much removed from most turbo-charged engines these days, the WRX is not an exception to the rule, rather the norm. The Golf GTI for example has a wonderfully lag free turbo, generally only those engines running very highly tuned turbo set-ups will suffer lag, such as the Evo FQ-400.

Umm, how to get it fast? Buy a Supercharger or a Stage 5 Turbo ( Original ). I recommend Stage 5 turbo over supercharger because Stage 5 turbo can be described as Stage 4 and Supercharger combined.. Works effectively in low rpm range and high as well.

WOW! This thread got a little off topic. Not to start any arguments or to offend anybody. I just simply wanted to add that there are a lot of well built Japanese automobiles in addition to the Impreza STI and Lancer Evo. that are very entertaining to drive on the screen and in real life. Including some stock Honda civics and well modified and tuned honda civics (not punk street racing wannabes or "ricer" civics). Civics that are actually tuned and modified for compitition driving! I think that anybody that is a true car enthusiest should appreciate all types and kinds of cars. Whether it be Japanese, European, Australian, etc. I own a civic hatch, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't like to own a TVR, Aston Martin, or a BMW:sly: . I would like to own a numerous amount of cars of all different types, because fun and driving pleasure (knowledge and skill) can be achieved on the autobahn or on a rural back road that twists for miles.👍

,you don't have to love to appreciate:)

One of my friends has a Sti My99 and another friend has a Pulsar GTiR (2.0litre 4cyl AWD), both have had : turbo upgrades, front mount intercoolers, ecu/boost control and large turbo-back exhuast systems.

Both cars are now sitting on figures well over 400bhp. So..the 200mph mark is not hard or very expensive to reach from a stock wrx/evo. Just a few small upgrades :p

Anyway...from personal experience, in stock form, neither an evo or an sti would make 190mph; unless maybe sitting in top gear along a very long straight road and you would be red lining. :)
