How many cars?

Or me? I haven't Broadband myself unless I go up to school and store car files on my 256 MB USB Flash Drive and port them to my future PS3. But yeah, I have no broadband at home. So what about people like me and AngelCreator?

I'd say that those of us who don't have broadband surely know someone who does, so see if you can make some time to come over, hook up the PS3 and download an update. If not, those flash drives are handy, and you can get a 512meg for not much these days.

Sorry to sound like an ass, guys, but broadband internet access is slowly becoming a necessity. It's just like how everyone had to buy CD drives to play computer games that would otherwise require 25 floppy disks, and how DVD-ROMs are beginning to appear with games that would otherwise require 4 CDs.

The world is switching to DSL and Cable, and the trusty analog modems are becoming the "floppy disks" of networking. The only difference is that broadband isn't available everywhere yet, but you shouldn't hold Sony or any other gaming company accountable for that. Petition the nearest broadband ISP and ask them to set up your street.

When have you ever sounded like that? ;)

But he's right about that, and broadband prices are dropping... well, periodically, as competition increases. The access to us westerners is incredible, so even if there's no way you can get broadband now, it wouldn't be much longer till you could. And like I say, there are those interim solutions like bumming some time on a friend's cable.

As for as I know there is broadband where I live, but $58 still sounds like a
bit much but we are starting to think about getting it.

Broadband is really nice and is getting to be affordable and to think six to eight months ago it wasn't available in my area but is now. I think that by the time GT5 comes out every person including Joe Shmoe from Khokomoe will have it or have access to it.

Now I also want to comment on what some have called "1930's grocery getters." The "grocery getters" probably were some of the most advanced vehicles of their time and belong in the GT series. OK, let's take oh say a 1931 Ford Model A Sport Coupe which sold new for about $540, it had 40 horse power from a little 4 cylinder. Now we can compare the Model A to a 2006 Ford Focus which also has a four cylinder but is getting up to 200 horse power from production models and sells for $10,000-$30,000 new. Both of these cars were built pretty much for the same reason for mostly cheap transportation. Now I'm just guesing here but how much horse power can you get from a origianal (by origianal I mean using the block that came with the car from the factory) Focus motor maybe 400? But I know for sure that you can safely get 180 horse power from a origianal 1931 Ford block. Now when you think about that with the focus your getting a 100% increase in horse power but with the Model A your getting a 250% increase in horse power.

Any motor can be tuned it's just wheather or not you have the knowhow and the tools.

For me I'd say we could get up to 2000 easily. People say that number is not realistic so then there should only be 400 cars in the whole world or what. The GT series is the real driving simulator so there should be as many cars as they can cram into it and it would still be "realistic."

someone may have said this before, but wouldn't it be nice if PD make EVERY SINGLE excisting car in the history into GT5? except police cars, taxis and.. you know what I mean..

not a chance PD will do it, but it would be nice huh?

I think that there'd be no point in 1321,213,21,321,321,651,632,1324,213 cars.....think about it.....how many will you acctually drive...
Take GT4 for example....Whats the point of haveing a Ford Model T Tourer....
too look cool? makes you sooo special....I think that there shouldnt be 20 variations of the same car(Skyline for example: GT-R, GT-R Vspec, GT-R VspecII, GT-R Mspec, GT-R Mspec Nur, GT-R VspecII Nur, GT-R Vspec N1, GT-R Vspec Special Color MNPpointless car.........)
If anything there should be a noticible difference between the cars like that...
But my guess is that they should have anywhere between 700-800 Useful Cars

The point is not that you will drive all of the cars it's that with a large amount of cars their is a better chance of getting the one you wanted. Not everyone wants a Viper or some supercar. Some want the little economy car that they own. Like personally I own a 2000 Honda Civic EX Coupe. Now in reality it is rediculously slow (but hey 32 mpg makes me happy). If it was in the game it would let me live my dream of modding my little eco car.

They did have race verson's did'nt they?

exactly, everyone can drive their irl favorite car :D

Now let me add to my initial question. Assume GT5 will feature 1,000 cars or more. Is it possible to increase the diversity of the types of cars and even the variety of cars among these 1,000 cars? For example, for every 50% of street cars and tuned cars,is it possible to have about 50% of racing machines including whatever Racing Modifications we may see in GT5? Are we going to perhaps see a nicer distribution of street cars and race cars?

Actually with racing modification, you wouldn't need all that many new race cars placed in the car lists. At least that's how I'd do it. I'd have a few new stock race cars in the visible lists, and I'd hide many more in the race mod results. This would have more street vehicles than race cars, but the number of race cars would be wonderfully huge and diverse.

With 1000 cars, especially if there are numerous historical vehicles, you're going to end up with new vehicles in all categories. The lion's share should be in performance cars, but you're going to have more trucks, perhaps some SUVs, old jalopies and what have you.

they can´t have 150 like they had in GT3.

this time they need to fill a BD, very important for PR

i think they will jam with variables, just to up the count.

since in the beggining of the tread everybody was guessing, my take is 1822

if i´m right do i get a PS3?:dopey:

Yup, you can certainly count on that.

Why put "500 cars to choose from!!" on the box when, for just a little bit more work, you can put "750 cars to choose from!!" instead?
