As far as I'm concerned the G25 (& the DFP) is Sony's driving/racing game ace-in-the-hole. I think M$ made a serious error when it opted for its own (substandard) wheel - it is the main reason I decided against buying a 360, Forza 2, HD-DVD player etc. etc.

G25 & Playseat here..

And you are spot on with the jab at MicroStupid for going their own route. I was perma banned from the Forza2 forums very early on because I would not agree with Chez and a few other Turn 10 folks who said their wheel with F2 was ideal and that no-one needs or is interested in an H-gate and clutch for cars that use those controls in real life - and less than 5% of gamers are interested in anything except a controller - and that it was not a market worth persuing.

It didnt seem to matter to them that I and many folks owned both consoles, both franchise games and both "official" wheels and had valid criticisms of their setup vs the Sony/PD/Logitech path.

oh well... I am glad Sony/PD/Logitech have kept working so close for so long :)

DF Pro with DIY stand. Made from 1,5"x3" wood. Quite sturdy, with adjustments for height, angle and pedal base.

Being a pad user since GT1, I start GT5p with a G25 on a Playseat Evo and will never return to pad

I find it easier to play with a wheel,so its the G25 for me,to be honest its the only way you can fully enjoy this game.Racing with the pad isnt that much fun in GT5 prologue.

Wheel since GT4 Falken-Demo (Nordschleife) and never again a racing-Game with pad !!!
What a coincidence.....that Demo (car + track) is exactly what convinced me to buy the DFP, design a stand for it, and have a welder friend assemble it.

I also could never again enjoy a GT (type) game with a mere controller.

It's not so much about the clutch & H-shifter, even, it's the overall QUALITY of the G25 (or, for that matter, the DFP) compared to the M$ wheel.

I have to admit I've got over 500 hours on the G25 with GT4, Enthusia & F1:CE. The $230 I spent on the G25 has been a great investment, & I haven't even got into the clutch & H-shifter yet.

I don't know what the overall percentage of wheel users is, but I guarantee that a high proportion of committed race sim fans use a wheel (hell some of them - like you - even buy one for each console :ouch:) & for a "flagship" title like Forza or GT, having a high-quality wheel available is just as important as what actually goes into the game itself.

Pad because I have nowhere to mount my wheel near the TV. I have a DFP but I use it exclusively for sims like rFactor or Live for Speed.

Well, I'm telling you, the adrenaline level goes up the roof with a G25 and a 700 point Suska online event...I'm sweating with my Elise!!

Controller since GT2, but i have the money and i'm gonna buy the new GT5:P wheel when it's released.

I got the Logi. DF GT yesterday and played the GT5P demo. O...M..G...
I just picked up the full game today!
since GT2 I have been using the PAD and when i played GT5P demo with the pad it was REALLY hard!...to the point where it wasn't enjoyable.
With the wheel though...WOW!
It took me a few hours to get used too but I adapted pretty quickly.
The amount of information you get from the wheel is insane.
I played on professional with all aids off and OH wow was it hard to push the limits of a RR vehicle (IS-f, 135i...)

Wheel, simply because i'm smoother and therefore faster using it. You get so much more control over steering and accelerator/brake than you ever could with a pad.

The only downside is that severe oversteer is much harder to correct as you cant go to opposite lock as quickly ..... but to be honest, if you're oversteering when you're racing then you're doing something wrong anyway.

Pad for me. The wheel represents the point of no return for nerdy single gamer to me :p... and I'm not ready to give that part of my life up just yet.... although I think I can see it from here :p

??? Not really...just have to love cars. The wheel reps. a good enthusiast who doesn't mind spending some money to get the best experience.

G25 here... just finished trying it out for the first time... unbelievable experience. Maybe one of the coolest videogame experiences ever for me! I just wish I had a dedicated basement or something for a PlaySeat...

Wow! Now I feel kinda left out. Either way I plan on getting a wheel sooner or later, will definately have one by the time GT5 is out.

Had the same issue...Moved the PS3 back to the desk. I was hoping to be able to play with the G25 on the living room with a "easy to fold" solution but it didn't work out. The feedback on the G25 is so strong that you need a desk or even better a playseat. My GF didn't like the idea of the Playseat, I don't know why :p

I also went for the "easy to fold" tv tray solution when i recently purchased my Driving Force Pro. I countered the instability caused by the FF by reinforcing it with 4 pieces of 1x4 fir that i nabbed off a jobsite (I work carpentry). It kind of veto's the easy storage of the table, but if you've got somewhere to keep it then its a fast cheap solution thats worth checking out until you can either build or buy something more permanent.

Started off with a pad/dualshock 2 for GT 1,2 &3,bought a DFP for GT4 & was given a a G25 as birthday present after if couldn`t fix the stupid pedal potentiometers on the DFP. Fixed it at least 5-10 times over the last 2yrs but they finally died and just wouldn`t do anything or it would just go beserk. Mastering the H pattern shifter is taking some time with the G25 but i`d never go back to a pad or dualshock 2 :-)

I am using the G25 and I have to say it's just freaking magnificent.

I bored my dad's Full HD TV, he is gone for 1 week :p to Slovenië

I placed a small table in front of the TV and tapped that table on the floor with the pedals, installed my G25 wheel and we are ready to race.

Playseat Evo and G25 in cockpit view pro mode and NO aids :D What a game indeed!
